Warrens back pack build WIP

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone ,

Thought I'd better drop you a line, as I've just realised I've been working away on my back pack and I haven't started a WIP on it. (SORRY )

Here are a few pics showing how far I've got ef48e48919850687f37fe6a8d7ab4014.jpg

Still got to fit mortar tube, lab pipe and stinger. But I'm not happy with the tool box but I think I have found one closer to the original size.

Will keep you posted on my progress.

Cheers

Warren

Thanks for sharing the pics. Don't forget your shotgun shells and canteen.

Here's a pic of mine that I finished last fall. I'm sure you have lots of reference photos, but just in case you need a quick peek at one that was approved for deployment after some minor changes, which are listed below and not depicted in my photos.
1.  I made my stinger on the canteen too long and had to trim that.
2. I had to lower my radar dish.
3.  I had to trim the size of my mortar tube keypad.

They are a fun build; I wouldn't mind doing another just to sell.

Looks good so far - good luck on the rest of your build and post some photo updates for sure!

Question about the packs are the "shotgun shells" actual shotgun shells? If so, high or low brass and what gauge? Thanks!

Recent photo analysis concluded they were old style capacitors, with a single lead coming out one end.

Cipher offers a complete set here:

Definitely some type of compacitor. I own Cipher's except I opted out for the little leg things. I drilled holes and fastened it to the seed tray with those self taping screws.

Definitely not shotgun shells; it's a term they were given before they were determined to be capacitors (long before I came along).

Well thanks to Crashmann I'm going to get started on my pack. Looks like a great kit. Thankfully there are some good tutorials here.

Well I finally got to finish my back pack here are some pics93d40e3f0c3aff2a62eb9de0b7257965.jpgab79f12054b7b0a6b8ff827faaacb82a.jpg36b59c253c8be2953928f703e5938db3.jpg2a7260e2aa8a14c0aadb2b65691f0d58.jpg
I've just noticed that I haven't painted the back end of the shotgun shells or the rivets holding the plate that the shells are attached to, will sort that out.
Please feel free to comment as all are welcome.
Cheers

Hi, does anyone have some decent reference pictures of the black gaffer tape on the bottom seed tray?

Some more changes to my pack.
I've shortened the mortar tube, made sure the black tape goes all around the bottom seed tray, shortened the canteen tube and added a wooden dowel inside it to keep it straight.
Hopefully these changes will are correct???7902419cf93c5be00ad75930a4e37ead.jpg0366c2cc00ce32cabbf6ad3692fcce16.jpg1bd3d732f550c1d8371e35c56d83212b.jpg
Sorry for the upside down pic
