Arch27
Hey all -- It's been a couple of years and I'm finally at a point where I can think about getting my TD together (more on that in another thread later). I have a Woodchuck T-21, and I wanted to do some of the fancier finishing details, but I wasn't able to find any reference for some things. Scour as I might, this pipe detail isn't mentioned in any build thread that I've seen. I've highlighted it in red on the following image. Image sourced from another trooper's thread. First thing that came to mind was a 3/8 copper coil pipe. That's not too bad, price-wise (~$6), but is it the right size?
Blaster 8266
Tv cable is the best thing to use.
Arch27
Excellent. Thanks!
Vf2112
I used copper line worked great! Hey Anthony , how do you get TV cable to stay where you want?
Blaster 8266
Very small screws. Very easy to use. will never dent like copper can. Its all what ever your preference is.
kayelbe
Can you elaborate? Do you screw through the cable?
dutchy
I used 4mm full copper wire and bended it into the right shape and "clicked" it around the barrel..

Arch27
Second Question: The ribbed area. I know people say a D profile rubber weatherstrip, but where does one find that? All I can find are foam ones.
Arch27
I used 4mm full copper wire and bended it into the right shape and "clicked" it around the barrel.. For those in the US looking to do it this way, that's 6 AWG, and it's sold by the foot at Lowes/Home Depot for roughly $1 a foot.
Arch27
I'm back! Ribbed area complete. What I'm trying to find now is info on the two little detail pieces that go on the top and bottom of the barrel at the end of the ribbed area. This thing (with the diamond-shaped part) and it's corresponding one on the bottom of the barrel:
Arch27
Thanks to the tips from TD-8266, I bought some vinyl tubing. I made rings, using the smaller tube as a plug to complete the ring. 14 rings total. Then I sprayed the whole area down with Plastidip, because it's rubber spray paint and won't flake off if the vinyl gets crushed. Just a few more details to add. sandtrooper
Very nice. Great job on the details.
OnlineJeff
I couldn't get anything to stick to the vinyl tubing. If you have problems, use black fuel line of the same outside diameter. Acetone will take the white writing off of the fuel line if it's there.
Arch27
Plastidip does a wonderful job. I use it on my Scout blaster, which is rubber resin. It doesn't flake or chip off.
Arch27
Forgot to mention this (because I've been scrambling to finish my TD, but it won't be done for this Saturday's event...) but my T-21 is as done as it's getting for now. It has the correct sling mount thanks to a garrison member who does WWII reenactments. My pack is almost done too. Waiting on the black ABS pipe for the mortar tube from a friend.
