  1. Hello all. Brand newbie here. Thanks in advance for any help. I inherited a vintage HIPS Sandtrooper kit that was intended for a smaller framed individual. I've been able to properly shim the upper torso and my shins (greaves) but the thighs are presenting a unique challenge as I'm about 5 inches too short to close the rear gap and I'm already maxed out using the front closure at the front cover strip at 1.5". I'm sure many have faced similar issues. Q: should I cut out the raised portions that supported the old cover strip and shim there ( leaving the lower knee area ridge) or should I begin my shim on the raised cover strip sections? Once again thanks for any help/ input( BTW: armor has not been "dirtied up" yet!)
  2. Hello everyone, Bones here again with another test fit and promotion photos for a Halloween event at the tattoo shop I work at (Crown and Dagger Tattoo) here in Lancaster, CA. So the apprentice taking the photos didn’t tell me my sniper knee plate was under my thigh or that my cod snaps were hanging or my ammo pouch slouching lol but I feel my progress on my fitmant is going well. Still being a little short to be a sandtrooper the backs of my knees have some nice pinch bruises so I’ll still need to shorten my shins. The abdomen is as high as I can get it to reach and my thigh snaps are also as high as they can go. Few more things I need would be a nice backpack and a BFG or just a blaster. Thanks for checking out my progress hoping to finish soon and submit my first go for approval If anyone wants to show off some of your progress on fitting and any tips please do, id love to see. -Bones
  3. Hello all! I'm new to all this. I am currently getting my kit ready for 501st approval and then I can try for the MEPD. I am having trouble getting my boots to stay under my shin armor. I can squish the boots and make them narrower and tuck them under the shin plates but as soon as I walk they just pop out. I thought about getting different boots like white Dr. Martins but I know they are not correct. Is anyone else having this issue? Are there Chelsea boots around that hug your ankle very tight and would not cause the issue I am having? Check out the attached pic for a visual of the problem. Many thanks.
  4. Well, I figured it was about time that I officially become a part of MEPD. I have always wanted to be a Sandtrooper and since I now have the packs down, I think I am ready to go for it. I am going to post my progress on here so people can review and let me know how I am doing. While I have built over 75 packs in 1 year, I have only done a few armor sets. Of course, I will have to build as if I am going for SWAT, so accuracy and detail are going to be very important to me. This will not be a rushed build. I figured since many build threads have been lost, I could make this one very informative so it could possibly assists others with their first builds. I just received my armor today from Jason Hill. He makes excellent armor and he also provides many of the pieces for the packs that I build. Armor: Jason Hill Pack: Crookknight's Imperial Trooper Packs Boots: Crow Props - Giovanni Rodriguez Pouches - Crow Props - Giovanni Rodriguez Pauldron - Crow Props - Giovanni Rodriguez Replica Sonic 75 Radio - SandieComms - Ian Havenhand DLT-19 - Hyperfirm T-21 - Custom Build (not by me) Here is the package I received today:
  5. Hey fellow trooper, i was wondering what i should use to close the back of the shin and thigth: velcro, snaps or something else
  6. So I found this supply list on the FISD page; Elastic- 1 inch wide black for shoulder bells, etc. (4 ft.) 2 inch wide white for ab/back plate shoulder connection (1 ft.), 1 inch wide white for drop boxes, (1 ft.) 1/4 inch wide white (1 ft.) for shoulder straps. Nylon strapping- 1 inch wide black, at least 6 to 8 ft. long. 2 inch wide black (48 inches) for high tension areas if you are using the double snap method. (NP) Before I go out and buy all this nylon and elastic. I wanted to know how these supplies might vary for a sand trooper build since our belts and shoulder straps are both different from a white armor build.
  7. Hey all!!! Long time no talk. Don't think I'm not watching you just because I'm not on the forums. Every time I see a TD anywhere online or in public it does me proud. I beam knowing I had a little bitty part in the great history you all are still building in the MEPD... the greatest detachment in the Legion!!! I'm logging back on today to ask you all — my brothers in the dirt — for help of sorts. Tye "Wolfman" O'Dell and I are hoping to build another kind of armor: namely Warhammer 40k Space Marine armor. But we're not gonna be able to do it at all unless we get some help funds wise. So, I've set up this Indiegogo campaign and I would be SO APPRECIATIVE if you would all consider donating SOMETHING to it! $5, $10, $25, anything would help. If you just got the grand reward from Lord Vader for finding the droids... then feel free to chip in $1,000. Here's the link again to the campaign... http://igg.me/at/WH40kSpaceMarines/ I will say thank you ahead of time for any help you might give! And I'll be sure and be posting back on here with links to builds and stuff when (Lord willing) we get it going. Until then, let the sun always be on your back and the sand always outside of your bucket!
  8. Taking into account that Halloween is just around the corner I thought we should post pictures of our armor to share our hard work and accomplishment so far this year on one of the nights that our expertise really shines. So this thread is simple just post a picture of your Halloween costume/sandtrooper armor and name a detail about it that you are particularly proud, or that you just recently completed this year. Have fun and don't forget to post. Happy Halloween everyone, don't let the trooshti bite.
  9. So as my recent discussions have stated I am trying to figure out what armor i should get and i have done even more digging on the matter and TrooperMaster is still an option but i also came upon the subject of TE2. So is TE2 the way to go because i have noticed that is one of the most used armors for sandtroopers but what i am unsure about is the mold that it is derived from. so does it come from a ROTJ mold or an actual ANH or what. So what armor actually is the best? or is TE2 the best and if it is where can i find TE2?
  10. Hi I am new to the world of trooping and the idea sounds fun and i would like to get started but the only issue is that i am not sure what type of armor i should get. I have narrowed it down to what sounds like the two best ones, which are AuthenticProps and TrooperMaster. I heard AuthenticProps is pretty detailed, but something looks wrong with the right eyelet, and apparently it is a bit smaller then the actual movie armor from what i have read. I have also heard that TrooperMaster armor is like the Cadillac of stormtrooper armors and i haven't really heard a negative thing about it only that it is really good and detailed as well as being a great set if you can get your hands on one. Right now it looks like i want to get TrooperMaster armor, but i need help to find out which is the best. WHEN ANSWERING THIS PLEASE PROVIDE DETAILS PERTAINING TO THE QUESTION AND THEN YOU RECOMMENDATION. THANK YOU. =)
  11. So I finally decided what armor I want to get but i cannot find it. I would like to get TrooperMaster armor, but I cannot find it anywhere. Is there any recommendation as to where I can find a set because I would like to get one I just need to know where to start. Please post any info.
  12. I had purchased a custom, hand crafted neck seal from SID and have to say it's not only beautifully crafted, it's also one of the most comfortable things I've ever worn. Thanks Man!!!
  13. I am new and would like some help getting started. Where can i find Armore. I am very mechanically inclinded but i cannot make plastic! Is there a good resource to fins parts to get started? Any help would be appriciated. I live in IL and would like to see if there is a local goup that is part of your department. Thanks
  14. Hey everyone! I am almost done with my '76 style TE2 Move Along Sandtrooper, so while I wait for a final mod and to be cleared as SWAT team member, I got some picts taken by a professional photographer in an studio. Here are some picts of the armor, and of some details... Ill be uploading a few more later this week. I really like how they turned out! Let me know what you think... Saludos. Juan
