  1. Back to it! I got the radio all glued together and painted. I really love that kit! Finally after a long wait, customs released my order from RWA Creations. The seed trays and plumbers cups were delivered yesterday! I’ll start working on the Karrimor frame after I get this radio completed...
  2. I thought It would cool to put a face to my name. I started this build because I love Sandtroopers of course, but I also wanted to get back out trooping again. My original TK I built when I had a few less lbs. So I decided why not build a TD that will be more comfortable for me now! The other pics are my TK on display in my home studio and my Star Wars display case. I live in Cleveland Ohio, USA with my wife and our 2 dogs. I’m an artist/animator professionally and if you like fan art check out my @octoarm feed over on IG. Ok I’ll get back to business now Oh I can’t forget, thanks for all the info and feedback I have gotten from you guys. It is greatly appreciated and motivating, cheers!
  3. Thanks again for the tip about the backer pad @bdgr I ended up purchasing a 5 inch backer pad not a 6 inch because my Tupperware piece has a diameter of 4 3/8 inches. Is my Tupperware too small?
  4. I was a little hesitant about cutting the radio box and converting it into a lid, but I gave it a shot. It worked! I don’t have any plans for putting stuff in it, but I wanted to have that option. The Sandie Comm kit is another fun project!
  5. Wow, these backpacks require a lot of steps! I’m thoroughly enjoying it though. I’m probably more excited about building the backpack then the armor kit because I’ve built an OTTK once before. The backpacks look amazing so I knew I had to build it no matter what Sandie Comm kit so far...
  6. Some non backpack related news. BBB Day!
  7. Ooh I like that too! I like the little raised area in the back of it. I’ll check out Amazon. Thanks @bdgr for the tip and pics!
  8. Good point @Hausi I’ll try what you suggested, thanks
  9. Another necessary asset secured! The Tupperware piece is a little yellow, but I figure that it won’t matter after weathering the pack. I decided to just spray paint an old PS 2 game for the backing.
  10. This is great! Amazing looking packs @Hausi This completely helps, much appreciated. I’ll definitely use your work for reference! I love what you did with the Sandie Comm too. Where did you hide the pleather surround seam? Underneath one of the sets of feet?
  11. I went to Lowe’s today and found the mortar tube I needed! The end caps and control panel from TrooperBay fit perfectly (they still need to be trimmed properly). Printed on the side of the tubing it says that it’s 2”. The actual diameter measurement is 2 3/8” from outside edges. This black tubing is really lightweight compared to PVC tubing . I also made a purchase on eBay today for a Tupperware pitcher with lid. It’s supposed to be model 874 so I hope it’s the right one. Here is all the pieces I have so far. The treasure hunt continues...
  12. Ok, so now I have a Shires UP90 That was a lot of work! I guess I’m still not done with it! I’ll need to figure out the system of attaching the plumbers cup and bottle. I’ve got an order of RWA Creations seed trays and plumber cups on the way. I need to look for bottles too
  13. Found some time this morning to glue the Shires replica back together and did some initial sanding to smooth out the seam. I want to hide the seam as much as possible so I added a layer of bondo over the seam. Then I’ll sand it smooth. I trimmed up my RWA Creations Brexton box. I also got @henselmonster exhaust port 3D printed in abs plastic and started sanding it too. So many details in these packs!
  14. UP100 to UP90 in progress. Now to get it back together!
  15. Thanks for that confirmation @bigwam I’ll give it a go!
  16. So I have a question about the Shires syphon. It looks like there is 2 different kinds. UP90 and a UP100. If I’m building Pack #3 do I need to shorten the RWA Creations UP100 to be more accurate? I’ve noticed some troopers haven’t bothered with it. I guess I would prefer to not have to do that.
  17. Secured another difficult asset!
  18. Thanks for your response @Hausi ! Nice to meet you. Your right that canteen does seem extremely unique. I debated on purchasing it for a couple of weeks but I’m happy I eventually did. I appreciate you letting me know that the steps I’ve taken so far seem to be on target.
  19. Great! Glad to hear that I’ve made a good choice on this. Ross is really friendly and responded to me right away. I placed an order for a Sandie Comm radio yesterday. Looking forward to working on that kit.
  20. This RWA Creations Shires Syphon kit is amazing! All the details are there. The piping that comes with the kit really helps keep the entire thing more rigid. I decided to cut a small piece off of the white pipe and added it to the threaded area so that part would be solid too. This kit takes some time lining everything up, glueing, and sanding but completely worth it. As thin as the vacuum form seems, once together it feels like a real piece of pvc plumbing. Another hard to find part finished, phew!
  21. Looks like a good time! Hopefully we start seeing more and more pics like this
