  1. Rustoleum Battleship Gray spray paint doesn't come up on amazon searches nor in any of my other google searches. I see this Winter gray: And there is a Krylon brand that says battleship:
  2. Are you finding this in a rattle can spray paint or mixed and brushed on?
  3. Well.... thanks to this thread I have a new prop project underway that involves a C3PO head. More details to follow.
  4. PS -- I changed my profile pic. Thanks for the paint update! I'm assuming I could proceed with the battleship color for my SWAT level pack at this point.
  5. Hmm... until command makes a decision, aren't we a bit stuck when it comes to SWAT level field packs? If I'm going to build a field pack I'm going to do it to SWAT standards even if I'm not yet ready to go full SWAT.
  6. Ok thanks. It's tough to get these colors in the US for some reason. Hopefully you have an option that will work. I'd like to get to work on this Field Pack because that RS pack (my PO approved pack) is HEAVY AS ________________________________. I'm confident my built SWAT level pack will be lighter.
  7. Getting ready to start a SWAT level pack build. It doesn't appear there is a consensus about the correct color here in this thread. The only agreement is that it's on the gray side of a grayish blue. What do you guys think of this:
  8. This is the beginning of my tour of duty log. I managed to get out to the Iron City Cosplay Day in Birmingham, Alabama. It is not a charity event, but it was a great opportunity for me to get out into the public in my armor for about 4 hours. The event benefits the Sloss Furnace museum and preservation, and professional photographers come out and do free photo shoots for everyone. I was also able to meet and connect with several members of the Alabama Garrison. It was the perfect first outing for my kit! My favorite photo of me from the event:
  9. I kept it on all afternoon even though it was killing me. Lol
  10. Now that you put the idea out there, I need a 3PO head!!!
  11. Well RS is pretty darn stiff and has the bib. However I’m trying to balance authentic with functional. Let’s face it— trooping for 4 hours with a stiff neck is challenging.
  12. I find my biggest movement restriction in my armor seems to originate from my RS neck seal. Are all seals created equal or are there less movement restrictive alternatives out there?
  13. I vote that we adopt the boonie and pattern it similar to the one above
  14. I kitted up for the public for the first time yesterday. Went to Iron City Cosplay. Met a handful of the local garrison there too. HOLY SMOKES are my muscles sore! The outside of my thighs are sore like when you go horseback riding. My shoulders are sore from the field pack. By the end of 4 hours my back was hurting from carrying the pack around. I also have 2 minor pinch areas on my shoulders right where my arm meets my torso. It was a lot of fun though! I rolled out of bed sore as heck today though. I'm getting old and stuff.
  15. Me too John. For some reason this just seems to fit.
  16. Now THAT's what I'm talking about Urs! If we could get a run of desert boonie hats with a couple standard patches on them it might work. I like that idea.
  17. Would people prefer a MEPD shield patch on it, or a MEPD shield pin? Something else?
  18. Yes but if you are going to go WW2 it probably needs to be more of a German flavor since the Empire was based on that style. I really like the one hensel found on etsy actually...just needs either a shield patch or a silver pin.
  19. Let’s not let this topic die. I have discovered the bucket hair syndrome after being kitted up. I totally need an official MEPD hat to put on when I’m between being suited up.
  20. Just a quick follow up -- the DLT is now up to standards I think.
  21. Thanks guys! DLT conversion is underway. I did one wire but I had to stop to get a new Dremel. The one I had was on it's last leg and I don't want it to screw up my T-tracks. New one arrives Wednesday.
  22. I’m not a deployment officer and I’m new but I would think it’s never too late.
