  1. The topmost pouch in this pic is nearly a dead ringer for the roadblock - depending on it's actual size. It has a center strap attached under the flap (although with two rivets rather than one) Square flap, fold-over sides on the flap, AND two straps on the rear to slide onto the belt. The only other difference is that the closure stud is on the face of the pouch rather than the bottom, but moving the stud WOULD explain why the strap on the roadblock is extra long.
  2. I used black electrical conduit with a 2.5" OD, then found some white ABS couplers that fit on it. Probably 2" ID plumbing pipe, if memory serves. Then I cut circles of white ABS scrap to function as the end cap and put those between the black pipe and white coupler and cemented everything together.
  3. Hold that thought- I'm following one of the costume designers for R1 on twitter and he's been VERY responsive and helpful. Edit: Question has been deployed. Waiting for an answer back now. Edit 16 May- still waiting on a reply. He's not on twitter too often, but hopefully he'll see it soon.
  4. NICE! I guess that explains your mad graphics skills. Speaking of which- any further development of getting your patch/shirt idea off the ground? I dearly love it, and NEED it as a t-shirt. My "Mountain Dewback" shirt is dying an ugly death and needs replacing.
  5. Greedy sods- they've only got 14 CRLs at the moment (before the standard R1TK). LOL
  6. On a purely "sci-fi reasoning" level, I would agree with you. It's also the same argument that ended the HWT up with the FISD rather than here. My rational for wanting the Kyber patrol trooper with US is how the troopers are perceived through the eyes of the general public. THEY see: A dirty trooper with a pauldron, big gun, and backpack. Which is exactly what they see when they see us. WE are the dirt-masters. WE have the best supply of BFGs WE wear the backpacks. WE are what the public sees when they see the Kyber patrol troopers. They don't see shiny clean garrison-ready TKs. Just my $0.02, but then again I still can't get my backpack powered on.
  7. I'm a little late to this thread, but here's what I did- Sewed an elastic + velcro tab into the top of the boot And then stuck the other side of the velcro about halfway up the inside of the shin plates This not only keeps the boots from popping out from under the shins, it keeps the shins from twisting about during a troop. The elastic gives me some a bit more flexibility than straight velcro-to-velcro attachment did (I tried that first).
  8. THIS RIGHT HERE! All the excitement is actually about the Kyber Crystal Patrol with the 'grenade holder' backpacks (and pauldrons, and heavy weapons, and dirtied up). The Kyber patrol troopers should fall under our mantle, because they are deployed and dirty. The mythical beast that is the Jedha 'Sandtrooper' barely exists.
  9. Letting the ladies come up with their own name does seem like an excellent idea. Sent from the far side of Mos Eisley
  10. Well, in the case of R1 ALL troopers are technically "standard" in appearance, and it is the load out which differentiates (which is probably what was intended in ANH to begin with). Just sort of seems like a land grab on FISD's part. Especially given that they already have ~15 CRLs. IMO- any non-garrison (aka dirty/deployed) trooper with special kit should belong to the MEPD. 11. I'm still sort of unclear on why the Jedha "Crystal Patrol" trooper doesn't fall under our aegis- Big backpack, pauldron, and weathered. Sounds exactly like our department. Sent from the far side of Mos Eisley
  12. I wish I COULD fit a power bank in my TD bucket- I have a 3200mah in my Snowie powering 3 fans and love it, but in my TD I'm restricted to 4 AA batteries spread out in the 'roll' at the neck, and one fan. I have a really big head. [emoji53] Sent from the far side of Mos Eisley

  14. Hope I didn't offend. It was actually my grandfather's joke (he was a Staff Sgt in WWII). He and my other grandfather (who was a 1st Sgt) used to joke about Pvts and Sgts doing all the real work. It just doesn't work as well with Sandies, since we've got the nonsensical no pauldron "enlisted" trooper alongside the black pauldron "Private". In any case, I'm always glad to see more black pauldron troopers. Sorry for veering off topic. *back to our regularly scheduled programming*
  15. Too many officers, not enough working men. *says the trooper in the black pauldron*
  16. Cute pix Congratulations on the engagement.
  17. If this would become a patch it would HAVE to be a ginormous one- 11" across or so. Otherwise we'd lose all the gorgeous detail. I would be totally cool with this as a patch on the back of a vest or jacket.
  18. I'll volunteer my photoshop services for any CRL pix that need cropping/adjusting.
  19. Just got my Snowie approved at the beginning of February.
  20. I would absolutely be down for a shirt in either white on a tan/khaki shirt or a full color screen on the same tan/khaki.
  21. Man, the new icons look fantastic! Well done, henselmonster!
  22. The movie IS blurring the lines, because the lines probably weren't meant to exist, originally with the Sandtroopers. The Sandies were the first ~10 pulls (done in a hurry) and shipped off to Tunisia in a rush for the start of filming. It's why our stuff is so wonky- even more so than the other ANH TKS, we were "first and best" (for a given value of best). In all (story arc) sense, the TK armor would be the standard and upgraded with any necessary extras for a given environment. Which is why I thought the moniker "Deployed" and the description of "extra kit for a specific deployment beyond the standard Garrison E-11 and bright, shining plates" should be our domain.
  23. That is essentially the crux of my argument right in a nutshell. What makes us TDs and the shiny white-jobs TKs? BEING KITTED UP FOR SPECIAL DUTY AND DEPLOYED (aka dirty). IMO as soon as a trooper gets handed special equipment and actually gets his plates dirty on the ground he should be one of us. I'm NOT saying that the TKs seen on Scarif are Sandies, they are in garrison. But, to me, the troopers with T-21s, big backpacks, and pauldrons shown on Jedha should be classified as TDs (the D can now stand for "deployed"- rather than in garrison/on starship duty)
