When I saw the trailer - I thought it looked like some sort of oil or fluid. Like when you change the oil or the transmission fluid and it gets on you and then you don't realize it's on you until you see that you had wiped your forehead. Or like when a gasket has blown and the fluid shoots out. Or there is a seal that has cracked and it just goes everywhere. Or like the time my coworker was in a c130 over Vietnam and they took some fire, and something pressurized was hit, he just slapped some duct tape on it and wrapped it with whatever was available. But he ended up covered in "aircraft blood". I'm going to lean to something more like my coworkers story. A craft of some sort has been damaged and the crafts "guts" spewed onto the passengers.

Tupperware "radar dish" sizes and part numbers
Fraulein replied to Fraulein's topic in Field Backpack
TBH - I didn't mention Etsy because some sellers think that just because they can tag it as "vintage" they should be getting vintage prices for worn out old Tupperware. -
So I wouldn't continue the threadjack from this thread here http://forum.mepd.net/index.php?showtopic=14033&hl= The Rocket Scientist - as I refer to my husband - designed and helped me construct the way to attach the sniper plate. It was originally attached it the way I think most people do - with something glued to something else. However - the plate would pop off when it made contact against the thigh. So we needed something flexible that could move when it made contact. It would also have to be able to take any abuse - like bending forward or crouching down to take pics with kids or the low altitude high-fives with little kids. The Rocket Scientist came up with a two spring design. The two springs were picked up at the Tractor Supply Store. They came in a kit http://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/mixed-small-springs-1-assorted-kit?cm_vc=-10005 Two matching size springs were used. They were epoxied onto the plate with some fiberglass mesh. The kind that you get from the hobby shop. It is a finer weave. The white square in the image is where I spray painted the springs, and masked off the rest. You can see the washers sitting on top of the springs in the first image. Those were a little larger than the size of the spring. We measured to where the plate should look right. And adjusted where the washer sat. The spring was then attached with a machine screw and nut. In the image below, I am holding the nut with a pair of needle nose pliers, then there is the washer, the greave and the machine screw being screwed in with a screwdriver. The next image - I used a "hard" hot glue to set the plate into the right position. I filled the void in the center of the springs. The top one, not so much. The top one was going to need to move around more. The end result - the plate is at an angle and still has flexibility and can take some abuse and get bumped around. If for any reason it needs to be removed or readjusted - I can just undo the machine screw and melt the hot glue and redo.

Pretty sure I posted the pics. Because it took forever to upload to photobucket. I'll post a new thread to keep from threadjacking this one.

I'm no expert - but I thought the "dot" is supposed to be more like a washer or the backside of a rivet shape. Or is that for PO and SWAT? I do think the notch is OK, because you are going to put the buttons above it and the notch is visible. Found a pic of from Beren's swat upgrade http://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/m619/Beren97/SWAT%20upgrades/IMG_2721_zpsb170559b.jpg[/img

Should have seen the one on Sunday. Practically filled the top half of the page. No issues now.

Vintage Karrimor Tot'em frame measurements...
Fraulein replied to iconoclasta_88's topic in Field Backpack
Yup. I get it. There is the curvature of it. No hurry on measurements. Whenever is fine. -
No prob. I don't know how other people have done it. My "rocket scientist" designed the sniper plate with the dual spring assembly. It is secure at the bottom spring. And the top spring is semi-secured. The springs allow the plate to twist and flex when it bumps against the thigh.

Vintage Karrimor Tot'em frame measurements...
Fraulein replied to iconoclasta_88's topic in Field Backpack
Just basic W x L And the length from the elbow to the end. If looking at it from side - it is an L shape. What are the rough dimensions of the length of the two parts of the L I ask - because I do have a tube/pipe bender and may have that size aluminum pipe out in the shop. Might be able to make my own to look more like the original - than scouring thrift shops/ebay/surplus store. -

Other dimensions? -
Is the plate parallel to the leg? Or is it at an angle like this?
-
Nope. I was just coming in to post the same. I picked one up.

Bump Opinions comments on the color please. EDIT - I don't think this color works. Too much gray in it. Home Depot and Lowes have failed me. I did find another Rustoleam color. It is a "baby" blue with gray. It is Rustoleam Painter's Touch 249062 Satin Wildflower Blue. It is sort of like the blue that I used to see painted on benches at the air base. Like a "military baby blue". It is windy out today. I'll try to make a patch to post here. EDIT - This is a strange color. I don't think it will work. IMO - I think it is a bit too much gray. This is one coat of the paint on a wipes tube. Direct sunlight Indirect sunlight Idoors W/O flash Indoors w/ flash How it really looks is somewhere between the indirect sunlight and indoors with flash.

I haven't checked to see the forum on mobile. I don't have the issue on mobile. I use the regular browser on mobile as well. EDIT - just reported spam - It was removed in less than ten minutes.

Didn't see this really posted all in one place. If you are looking on eBay or any other place that sells them online and you are coming up empty. And you have exhausted your search term of Tupperware pitcher lids. Here are a few extra terms to search with. There are part numbers for these lids. The lids come from the Servalier collection. There were several sizes of pitchers, this also included small creamer and sugar pot lids. The little lids are about 2.5 inches across. Im not including them in this post, because they are not the lids you are looking for. (See what I did there? ) The pitchers came in gallon, 2 quart and 1 1/2 quart sizes. The lids are a three piece assembly. The seal, button and backing. The part numbers are usually listed as two numbers together. The first number is the seal, the second is the hard plastic lid. The part numbers I list can vary, due to style designs or different years, but the lids were usually the same. The common ones are the ones I am including here. The measurements are of the inside seal. The larger size lid was from the gallon pitcher. The diameter measures 6 ¼ inches across. The part number is usually 1417 / 1418 The two quart size lid measures 5 ¼ inches across. The part number is 801 / 802 The 1 ½ quarts lids diameter measures 4 ½ across. The part number is usually 875 / 876 This information is not complete but can help you narrow your search. I also think that a regular non-pitcher lid might do, until the one you need is found. The Servalier lids from most, if not all, of the collection have that sunburst design. Edit - some of the gallon size pitcher lids measure 6 1/2 across. Edit - separated numbers with slash to make it clear

I have been reporting the spammers, and they are usually removed a few hours after I report them. I like to think of them as Yoda is spamming. Or IG88 is writing some really bad fanfiction. The multiple coding errors are still at the top of the page as well.

I was at Big Lots with my mom looking for Christmas gifts for the nephews. I hear from an aisle over "Come quick." I come around the corner and then she says "Ah nevermind." I look and see what appears to be a TD. It is the 31inch tall (not so much action) figure. The woman who made me a Darth Vader costume in 1977, can see the subtle details that some miss. We also spotted this collectible Crayola tin at Target. At which point she said "They aren't even trying." In Crayola's defense, the rest of the tins were Stormtrooper tins. It appears that the mislabeled one was the only one.

Pauldron Helmet Issue
Fraulein replied to Uncle's topic in Pouches, Pauldrons, and other Accessories
I have been having this issue. We sort of solved it by gently heating the top part of the breast plate, along the neckline and shoulder tabs and pressing down a little towards my chest. This brought the top of the chest down so the pauldron rested on it. I also installed a better chin strap that I scrapped from a pasgt helmet. This really pulls my helmet on. But I have to just bend at the waist if I'm gonna look around or pick something up. It's just the way it has to be.
