  1. Whew...got ahold of Lewis a few minutes ago, got one ordered...This is one happy guy
  2. Thanks a bunch Smoke! Your testimony is consistent with everything I've heard, which is why I have to get one from them. Thanks for the info man!
  3. Hey guys, Are the folks at Sci-fire / Hyperfirm still in the business of making weapons? After reading many rave reviews here, and from friends, it sounds like these are best weapons stateside for a great DLT-19 rep. Sadly I have tried to contact (who I assumed was one of the owners here) and also sent an email from their website to get a quote on a DLT-19, weathered by them and shipped to Arizona...Haven't had a replay from either source after a week. Maybe someone here might have a reliable means to contact them? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  4. Sweet, thanks Rhaps...I've been debating on rigging something that hooks to the left side of the paulderon, and around the right shoulder...but my new pouches aren't shipping out until Monday...so I'll have to wait to play around with it.
  5. hmmm...interesting, thanks for the reply...seems like I see alot of sandies with a shoulder pouch, and no backpack, perhaps it is a Jedi mind trick on me perhaps I shall pay more attention LOL!
  6. So, I was just curious, and this may be born out of ignorance (as my pouches, and sound system aren't here yet). Couldn't one place the Icomm unit in your tool pouch (punch a hole through the back of the pouch) run any wiring to the mic in the helmet, and the aker in the chest. It would keep the Icomm unit away from any body generated humidity.
  7. I know this may be a rather dumb question, but how does thes the shoulder pouch connect to the armor? Does it strap to the paulderon? or is it just strapped around the shoulder (not connected to the paulderon or the armor at all?) Does anyone have a picture that shows how it is hooked up by chance?
  8. Where is a good place to get cheap mesh...petscreen would be perfect, but it comes big and expensive, and I'd rather not have to order online if possible to go to a local store and buy a soloution.
  9. Ok guys, I know this topic was out there (I have been looking all over for the post with pictures). Someone had made a "riser plate" for their sniper plate, that could be glued / rivited / or bolted to the shin. It was a great looking piece, I saw the post when I was getting ready to leave work for the day and didn't mark it. Now I have been looking all over the place...and can't find the post anywhere ( apparently I fail in the art of search fu). Thought it would be a good design to play with the idea of attaching the plate with a pair of snaps so that it will pop off rather than break. On a side note when the plate is mounted to the shin should it be tilted towards the lower shin? or towards the thigh? or should it be more or less mounted perpendicular to the ground with no tilt to it?
  10. Ok...does anyone know what the object actually was that this trooper held up...looked kind of like a washer, but appears to have a conical depth.
  11. I can say as a know nothing NOOB in this hobby, the people here are great, helpful and very receptive to the new people. Thanks a ton guys and gals, You all truely stand above the rest.
  12. I thought I saw it being used by the Red Rain group...I could be wrong, but maybe some of them are here and would chat about their weathering perhaps? I plan to join the 501st, not sure if I could go further in the M.E.P.D. I'm not really trying to replicate any particular trooper from the big screen, but rather just a personalized random trooper that would fit the bill so to speak. Been looking up and down the weathering thread all day actually (some pretty amazing work, by some very talented people for sure), but didn't see particularily what I was looking for so thought I would ask. Perhaps I will go play with some scraps after work and see what comes up
  13. Pardon the lack of proper terminology, as I am very new to this whole business. What I am looking for is a good technique achieve what looks like a light greyish almost fuzzy, cloud like, water color mottled appearence as a base coat to the weathering? has anyone tried to spray droplets, then dab them down with a sponge in various layers then polish it up to weather over it? Not sure if that even makes sense to anyone.
  14. I just cut a 2mm ABS scrap to the right size rectangle to fit the space on the ab plate, trimmed the corners to 45s, sanded the edges smooth. used a penny to trace out the buttons on another piece of 2mm ABS, cut them out sanded the edges to roughly a 45 degree angle. glued the buttons to the plate with E6000. wasn't very difficult.
  15. Must say I'm a little bummed I can't see the pictures for some reasone, the technique you are describing sounds very interesting to me, time consuming for sure, but worth it...hope it's just this stupid work computer not allowing the photos, and I will be able to check them out when I get home.
  16. You are some sick and twisted people...I like it
  17. Thanks guys, appreciate the input
  18. Hey guys, so my ab plate left side currently does not have a button plate attached to it, I fabricated this plate out of scrap abs, and just wanted to get your input as to whether or not it will be passable once it is attached to the plate and dirtied up. Looks like the regulations state a minimum of 3 maximum of 4 and must be white...I was going off the pictures in the reference library to estimate the size.
