  1. Waiting to be enlisted into the 501st and then plan to submit all required photos to also become an MEPD member. Also trying out photobucket to make sure I can post pics. This pic is the first time I put on all armor after it was finished or at the time thought was finished. I've already made a few adjustments on ammo pouches. Would love to get some feed back. Can't wait to get my ID. Also just purchased a T-21. Rosewood stock.
  2. I like that alot! It was pretty clear, but if you have a chance to post a pic, I'd love to see it. I started to try using duct tape but I'm not that happy with the results.
  3. Didn't try shoulder yet, but re-read TD-8800 Juan and sound exactly like what I'm gonna do.
  4. How funny, first I'm talking about the MP40 canvas pouches. Here's the funny part, I bought Gorilla Duct tape to try brfore I got to read replys. I was more concerned with the shoulder and was thinking of attaching it to the backpck strap. However, the first thing I tried was the belt pouch and it worked great. Here is how I was able to keep it straight and not at an angle. Get about a 10 inch pice of tape, run it through the top strap and then fold over the top of the belt until it comes to the bottom edge of the belt, then take the rest of the tape at the bottom and wrap. Actually, now that I typed it out, maybe start at the bottom, either way it's best to have the top lap of tape going the direction towards the ground, let gravity work for you(basic rule in construction). Then do the same thing on the bottom loop, it should come out looking even. Don't use cheap duct tape, it's one of those "you get what you pay for" kinda things, unless you wanna re-do this from time to time. Probably not. If i come up with anything drasticly different on the shoulder, I'll post what I did, otherwise, probably very similar.
  5. Wondering how everyone is attaching the ammo pouches. The leather loops sewn on the back of them are at an angle. The canvas is tough to get a needle through. I have a few ideas, but am looking to find the easiest way that works good. Thanks.
  6. Thanks for the replys, I'll be getting White Velcro tomorrow. Hope to get the armor finished tomorrow and maybe even weathered and on my way to getting my 501st ID with the Golden Gate Garrison. Woo Hoo - finally
  7. OK, I'm almost done with my build. I have a question about the velcro in the back of the calf. It closes pretty well and looks good with a straight-on look, but if you're looking at the seam / 1" cover plate from the side, you can see a thick black seam. Is this normal / OK? Do I switch to white velcro instead of black? I'll take all suggestions. I've tried heating the armor to get a better fit but that's not helping alot. If anyone knows, I'd like to know what the most popular method is to close the back and still have it look clean. I've had issues posting a pic, otherwise I would. Thanks All.
  8. WOW, just watching ANH and started really looking at the seams and there are some really big gaps, even in the front.
  9. Thanks. I do wanna be screen accurate, so I've trimmed the top cover strips. I just hate open seams.
  10. On both front and back sides of the thighs, the cover strip appears to stop just before the bottom where a kind of squared ring starts. is it wrong to run the cover strip all the way down, doing it this way hides the seam.
  11. I'd also like to thank Ben publicly for helping me finish my blaster. His help was priceless.
  12. Almost done building my DD resin kit and not sure what to do with the cocking lever. I've seen many pictures posted that look great, but I just don't have a clue as to what they did or how. Also wondering if anyone has specs on the spring or suggestions. I want to make this blaster as nice as can be, please help.
  13. Thanks for all the positive feedback. I wil keep working on it and post another pic when I'm as happy as I think I'm gonna get. I agree TD-8800, my biggest dislike is the sanded look. I'm taking my time trying to get what I think looks right.
  14. My first shot at putting a lid together and getting it dirty. I guess I need some feedback. I liked it more before I used Slate on it and had to do alot of sanding. I think until you've done a few, it will seem like everyone else's is perfect.
  15. Thank You all for replying. I decided to fill the holes. I was going to take a pic , but my fill job was better than I thought and you can't even tell where the holes were and that was without paint. Thanks Ben for painting advice. I've put together a Hasbro w/mod kit but also hope to make SWAT someday. I'm waiting for armor, but have also been working on my first helmet. I hope to weather it this weekend. One of the most important thing I've learned doing this is - Patience and not to rush anything, it is to your advantage if you want the best results. I will post pics of progress soon.
  16. Just made the sight rail for my DD E-11. Am I suppose to fill in the top hole next to the T track on the very top? And while I'm at it the same question goes for the hole that is in line with it on the bottom. The reason I'm questioning these is because I don't know why they are there in the first place.
  17. Steve from Livermore, CA. Looking into becoming a TD and must start getting all materials together. I've gone to whitearmor to find kits to get started. I've sent a few e-mails and waiting for replys. ANYONE who has started on this quest recently, please share info on do's or don't(waste time). I'm looking for affordability but able to meet 501st and FISD standards.
