  1. For my brothers out there who can't make it to my back yard for Disney's Star Wars Weekends, here's a link to the photos I took today including a good looking bunch of Sandies... http://s1134.photobucket.com/user/Beren97/SWW%202015%205-17-15/story
  2. You'll have a blast! Sorry I'll miss you though. I'm trooping the 16th and 22 of May.
  3. For what it's worth, I didn't fully understand the differences either when I started my build a few years ago, and I ordered a standard TK kit from AP. Once I figured everything out, the "extra" parts were easy to acquire from others here on the forum.
  4. At first glance it would appear so, but there are several details which are unique to the Sandtrooper including painting differences on the helmet, ab button differences, knee plate, and pouches. Sandies don't have the small drop boxes hanging from the belt, nor do they have a leather holster. Check out our CRL for more information...
  5. I own both. I was approved for SWAT with a trooperbay pauldron. I purchased a Trooper1 afterwards and prefer the look and design better.
  6. At last!!! Congratulations and welcome to the team!
  7. Looks really nice. Great weathering and attention to detail. Good luck!
  8. Nice improvements on the pack... my only suggestion would be to move the radio up now so that the top comes level with the bottom edge of the black seed tray. Good luck!
  9. Looks really nice Manny. I especially like the weathering. I've attached a screen shot of the "filter pack" for your reference. You may want to alter the position of your radio and filter just a bit...
  10. It's always good to have goals, but I'll be pushing 80 by the time I earn my shield!
  11. Great work with the weathering and final details! Nicely done.
  12. Hate to be "Captain Obvious" here, but just wanted to point out in case you weren't already aware that there are a few other differences in assembly besides the shoulders... like the sniper knee plate, 3 button ab plate, missing ab detail. Don't want to see you end up looking like a Heavy Weapons Trooper!
  13. Isaac, it certainly is not looked down upon those who choose a "basic" or more personalized build. SWAT is there to satisfy the OCD in a few of us, and you can always upgrade later if the obsession strikes you. Besides, we always need a few extra troopers to keep the dewbacks clean!
  14. Hi Anthony, I agree with the overall sentiment you are receiving here from the other members... don't fret about the weathering too much. For me, it was the most fun. The goal for SWAT is to replicate your specific trooper as closely as you can by referencing screen shots, and if appropriate, other SWAT builds. You should try to reproduce the texture, pattern, and color of the weathering as best as you can, and then be open to suggestions. Although it might seem like we are asking you for "absolute perfection", there is plenty of room for personal interpretation. For example, although most use acrylic paints to weather, I was able to accomplish it with colored tile grout (and a touch of Tunisian sand). Ultimately, our goal is not to tear you apart, but to help and support you in your build. Enjoy the process... we're here to help!
  15. I totally agree with Mr_Hair about your chest piece sitting too low. If you can take a photo to show how your chest piece fits, we can give you better advice on adjusting (and maybe not trimming) your armor to look better. Your biceps could be lowered a touch too...
  16. Congrats Vince! Thanks to you, the SWAT team can now be called "The Dirty Thirty"! Well done.
  17. Check out Trooperbay. If they can't help you, you can always use colored tile grout. It looks just as good and can be a bit cheaper...
  18. Welcome to the SWAT team, Milo! Nicely done!!!
  19. Great looking Sandy! See you in the cantina soon!!!
  20. Yep, I think you're getting there, but I am interested to see what others think too.
