  1. Yeah I couldn't stand the sound of all the chatter going back and forth at the same pace all the time. It got to where I started to realize the passage of time because I knew the banter. The last thing you want on a day-long troop is to have something forcing you to acknowledge the passing of time
  2. I took all the "Combine" sounds from Half-Life, sped them back up to normal human voices, added 5-10 seconds of dead air at the end and made them individual files in a playlist. I also sped them up at different intervals so they'd sound like different people. I also took the readily available 501st radio chatter file and broke it up into individual files with 5-10 seconds of dead air at the end, so I have like 80 sound clips in a playlist that I put on "RANDOM". I might still have the files at home (I know they're on my iPod). If I can find them I'll upload them somewhere.
  3. Hey all - I'm converting a beat up RT-Mod TK kit into a TD. How beat up? Well, the guy I bought it off of used pop rivets instead of adhesive for all the leg connections, for starters. He also used them in the shoulder strap assembly. I got a new TD ab plate and the correct diamond knee plate, but I had a question or two. Here's the torso parts all together. I was playing around with weathering when I started this project a couple of years ago, which is why one forearm is dirty already (so just ignore that... I'm going to redo it). Anyway you might be able to see two things: 1 - The ab plate button area is missing the bottom indent. 2 - The chest piece shoulder area has two nubs where the TK plastic shoulder straps align. My questions are: 1 - Should I alter that ab plate button area to include the indent? I am rather sure I can heat up something metal (like a nail or putty knife) and create it. 2 - Should I try to heat up and flatten out those nubs? They're going to ultimately be covered by the pauldron and ammo pouch.
  4. No one can hold a candle to Gibbon's build. That thing's the Gold Standard. http://forum.mepd.net/index.php?showtopic=13060&hl= Still, I'll try to put together a decent set of DIY instructions based on all the different builds I have read.
  5. Do you have examples? I'm a Garrison Web Liaison and Garrison Web Master for Excelsior. It's a volunteer post, and I mostly format the membership profile photos. I police our forums and make changes to our website when needed as well.
  6. You can fish through the large weapons section for various builds and the occasional piece of info on how to put together a DLT-19 or MG-15. I won't lie - it's not easy to find the info, and there's no definitive design out there. No one has a tutorial with templates or a shopping list like the Pandatrooper T-21 build. I'm going to work on that as I get the time. I've just started assembling info for the MG-15 build tutorial. For now you can take a glance at the tk409 site for a basic MG-15 build. It's on the left hand side, about 2/3 of the way down the page (or click here). Lots of pictures but not much description.
  7. Looks like you're practically in the Southern California Garrison territory. Hard to say since they don't seem to list all their regions in one place. "The San Joaquin Squad represents members of the Southern California Garrison of the 501st Legion that serve in the farthest northern reaches of our Garrison territory." I would start by reaching out to SoCal Garrison! Otherwise, we have a "Where To Get Stuff" thread right over here: http://forum.mepd.net/index.php?showtopic=4255
  8. Plastidip does a wonderful job. I use it on my Scout blaster, which is rubber resin. It doesn't flake or chip off.
  9. Thanks to the tips from TD-8266, I bought some vinyl tubing. I made rings, using the smaller tube as a plug to complete the ring. 14 rings total. Then I sprayed the whole area down with Plastidip, because it's rubber spray paint and won't flake off if the vinyl gets crushed. Just a few more details to add.
  10. Such awesome work! Copies you say...?
  11. I'm back! Ribbed area complete. What I'm trying to find now is info on the two little detail pieces that go on the top and bottom of the barrel at the end of the ribbed area. This thing (with the diamond-shaped part) and it's corresponding one on the bottom of the barrel:
  12. RE: Posting pics. Easiest thing to do is throw them on an image site like Imgur or Photobucket, then share the album.
  13. For those in the US looking to do it this way, that's 6 AWG, and it's sold by the foot at Lowes/Home Depot for roughly $1 a foot.
  14. Second Question: The ribbed area. I know people say a D profile rubber weatherstrip, but where does one find that? All I can find are foam ones.
  15. Hey all -- It's been a couple of years and I'm finally at a point where I can think about getting my TD together (more on that in another thread later). I have a Woodchuck T-21, and I wanted to do some of the fancier finishing details, but I wasn't able to find any reference for some things. Scour as I might, this pipe detail isn't mentioned in any build thread that I've seen. I've highlighted it in red on the following image. Image sourced from another trooper's thread. First thing that came to mind was a 3/8 copper coil pipe. That's not too bad, price-wise (~$6), but is it the right size?
  16. That's on the stock end. The strap is the same as in the link from earlier.
  17. Hi there all - I scoured through the forums quite a bit but couldn't find an answer to this: I have the Enfield straps with the brass C shaped pieces on the ends. http://www.ima-usa.com/british-enfield-web-khaki-sling-wwii-dated.html I also have a Woodchuck T-21. How do I get the strap through the stock strap swivel? Do I have to bend the C shaped pieces so it'll fit through? Thanks!
  18. bah - MORTAR Tube. You know what I mean Does anyone here sell these? Original or a copy is fine. Need to have it in hand in the next week or so. Trying to throw together TD for an event on the 28th.
  19. "Hasbro Special Announcement: Star Wars is Magic!" Gag. That crap is getting out of hand. Even for an April Fool's Day joke.
  20. THAT. IS. INSANE. Until Iron Ram's post I wouldn't have even thought it was possible. Well, I hope you're all ok. Hopefully there isn't 9 years of that stuff.
  21. I didn't realize you weren't already a 501st Legionnaire! CONGRATS and WELCOME! Good work Chuck! Looking awesome!
  22. That's quite a busy 2 weeks! Looking great so far.
