  1. Loving that BFG what is it ???
  2. i feel bad posting this after your genorosity but i did forget to mention it, if you are planning to send these as completed items ie painted with mesh, it might be worth you looking into painting the inside of the Mic tips before adding the mesh a very minor flaw to what are great Mic Tips
  3. Just a friendly Bump i cant stress enough how good these are im really pleased with mine
  4. if you plan on airbrushing then avoid Holfords paints an Acrylic based spray job will be much better and the finish will be superb as i said i could be wrong but this is what i would do ......look forward to seeing your progress
  5. i may be wrong but id try and avoid using Halfords sprays they are a bugger to adhere to plastic unless the plastic is super clean, ive found their sprays to sometimes bubble even when every care has been taken. this is just my opinion others may find halfords stuff great, i try and use Tamiya when ever i have spray jobs
  6. ok so i had a break from my sons Mini TD build and tried to sort out the mess that is the CAP helmet i aquired i completely stripped it down and noticed it had been trimmed really badly note the face plate So i cut quite a bit off from the top of the face and various other areas, im begining to wonder if this was a second or something its really badly warped in places or again just really badly trimmed After a few hours ..... yes hours i began to get a shape of a Trooper helmet, i managed to close up all the gaps and i now have a nice snug fit between the Dome and Face plate, underneath it looks like a pin cushion i had to keep pinning the helmet in various places until id got it sitting just right. Im obviously trying to get the "Move Along Trooper" look so your opinions would be greatly appreciated on wether ive achieved that so far or im way off, if im way off unfortunately im stuck with the look i now have still a long ways to go I feel so much happier now however i now have the ears to tackle .... which im not looking forward too at all More to come thanks for looking
  7. Build my TD Display and finish my Judge Dredd movie version, i have most the bits except the Main armour pieces which are like gold dust ......... anyone fancy making me some hahahahaha
  8. So now im nearing completion of my Sons TD i will hopefully be able to make a start on mine soon ......... Howm accurate do i go with my sons TD .... thats the dilema im having, the Armour to be honest is not of the highest Quality, i really wish id known Trooper Master did kids armour however im doing the best i can do with what i have. I have on order a custom made Canvas Belt for my son so im left with 2 flat pieces of white plastic that would have been for the belt and out of this ive tried to make a diamond knee plate but to be honest it just doesnt look right, also the ab plate is standard TK. Therefore im thinking would it be fine just to leave the standard Knee plate and leave the ab plate as it is ie with out the buttons just leave it plain. My son is just over the moon to have real Life stormtrooper armour as he calls it and i personally think with the subtle mods ive added ie the belt, Back pack and weathering will the ab and knee plate look out of place, im thinking perhaps not ...... another dilema if it is one my son wants to have a Holster and a grappling hook added to his belt, how can i disappoint him by saying "well son thats not quite accurate for a TD" He doesnt yet understand the need for accuracy he just wants to be a Sandtrooper, am i trying to hard to alter what in essence is a childs costume ..........
  9. Well Graham promised me a finished set of these, and he has duely obliged, they look as good as they do in the Picture and i am very very pleased with both the product and the price top man and once again (publicly) thank you very much
  10. yeah il be taking him to MEM march, also hopefully we can chat about your latest version
  11. yeah your sons helmet is far better, i assume you made that??
  12. Your sons Helmet looks fantastic the helmet i have here is very similar to the other one with the flatter dome, i wonder if its the same kit? ps slightly off topic ive just come across a Han Solo Hero Trooper Helmet on Ebay, is this one of yours?? its fantastic
  13. Well said. I love the fact the Americans embrace this and see it for what it is, how great that a mudane Subway trip was brightend up for those passengers, if this was done in the UK i dread to think what would have happened
  14. if you dont mind me asking, what ages are the children in this picture .... ? the reason i ask did you have to trim much off the Thigh armour ??
  15. I think this is where the fault lies, this helmet i have is 3 piece the Back and cap fit perfectly but the face seems to have come from a different kit if that makes sense. its like tring to fix a GF face to and FX back and cap the sizes just dont match. Its together now and il fill in the big gaps, my son wants the armour to be dirty which benefits the whole build, oh and il make sure the Tube stripes go on the right way
  16. Ive tried it both ways and which ever way i tried to add the face plate i was left with quite large gaps down the sides, when i first attempted putting it together my immediate reaction was to fit the face under the cap. I was told after buying the armour there was design fault and i found it lol im not having much luck at all with trooper buckets lol as for the tube stripes im my defence i fitted the stripes with the helmet upside down
  17. Ive begun to Build my sons Box of Armour parts and thought id post up a little progress of what i achieved today The Helmet is almost done just need to trim and fit the ears, the maker of this particular kit tells me there was a design fault so im left with 2 gaps either side of the helmet however ive double checked and the ears will cover these gaps no problem, im a little disappointed in the cap as it seems rather flat id have liked iot a little more domed Next the shins are nearly done too im going to alter the knee plate by adding a diamond shape, also one complete thigh piece
  18. I have a load of pins so im ok with that i just need to know whats safe to remove the Paint off the helmet itself ?? yeah im defo in for Mic tips too thanks
  19. Im worried this may pull the helmet out of shape? ive added the Brow trim and pulled the face closer so the gap has gone, by added the ears there seems to be excess Plastic around the bottom and now the trim doesnt seem to reach around the bottom of the helmet, its been originally trimmed quite poorly. il keep persisting
  20. Thanks for the input guys Ive completely stripped the helmet down now, i just think it was badly trimmed and put together to be honest. Im going to order some new ears for it fit it back together when those arrive and then weather it up "Move along" Style. Rather than re-paint over the exsisting paint work can i remove whats already there safley if so what can i use? How do i get in touch with ATA for new ears, is he a member here ??
  21. Usually im very cautious and picky about what items i buy, i like them to be of the highest standard, which im sure pretty much goes for 99.9% of us. Today i learnt a valuable lesson dont buy a prevviously owned or previously built item until absolutely sure your happy that the build is to your standard. My CAP helmet arrived today and to say im a little disappointed is an understatment, i figured as my TD is for Display purposes i wouldnt have much problem buying a reputable helmet that had been pre-built, unfortunately this not the case, the whole helmet is going to have to be disassembeled and re-done, i guess in all honesty this isnt a major problem but its the principle of buying something on the word of a seller and not getting whats expected. My armour is on order with another helmet, the armour will be converted to TD and the new Helmet kept as TK for display also. OK so onto the dissappointing CAP and hopefully your help and advice. The build is actually awful to be honest and the paint even worse. picture 1 The cap has a massive gap, so this will have to be unscrewed and brought forward flush with the face plate Picture 2 The view from the back of the helmet looking at the right ear has awful gaps, the ear piece will need to be trimmed Picture 3 The Mic tips sit proud and are not Mic tips im familiar with at all picture 4 The screw in the bottom of the ear have been painted white and this has discoloured and gone like powder, are they supposed to be painted white ?? Picture 5 all the painting is awful you can see the brush marks in the tears and in some cases the white of the helmet shows through the grey Picture 6 More terrible paint work and again those horrible pins in the helmet Is there a safe way i can remove the paint ?? i think id prefer to use Decals to be honest for this helmet build. Im not impressed with the build on this Helmet and to be honest im not sure im impressed with the CAP helmet in general. As mentioned i intend to strip this down to kit form again and amend the problems i realise it will be weathered to portray "The MOVE ALONG TROOPER" but i at least want a decent starting point. il up date progress as when i do it, but in the mean time any hints, tips and suggestions are welcome.
