  1. I'm starting my new pack build soon Charlie and I am not going to finish it until it's got one of these bad boys on it! My official request for deployment will just have to wait until I get my hands on this AMAZING radio!
  2. Still looking for these. Contacted AM and AP armor. They are not pulling individual parts right now. Anyone with any other ideas?
  3. Not sure if anyone out there in MEPD land can help me with this one but here goes. I am looking for a set of replacement forearms for my TD. The set I have is a little tight. If anyone has an old set or parts laying around, let me know. If anyone knows where I can get just a set at a reasonable price, again let me know. As always, your info and your help is much appreciated!
  4. That pack looks awesome! I especially like the radio. What you did with the painting really makes it. Great job!
  5. The trays I used are a little undersized (8"x12"x2.5") so the frame is slightly wider. The PVC frame was assembled as per the tutorial found right hear on the MEPD and the trays were also posted in a thread here on the MEPD as being available on Amazon.com. As far as the Novatroopers are concerned, Wookiepedia's descrption is as follows: "As stormtrooper honor guards, Novatroopers were assigned to either historically significant locations such as the Emperor's homeworld of Naboo, or to guard captured enemy starships. Also used as commandos in special missions, such as infiltrating enemy bases, Novatroopers were trained better than most stormtroopers."
  6. Well, I had a special request from a 501 member who saw some of my other builds. He wanted a pack for his Novatrooper. He had two requests. Loosely base it on a TD Captains pack and make it all black. Here are a few pics of the build. Still have to mount everything to the frame. Sonix radio faceplate courtesy of Mr. Crashmann. Feel free to comment, good or bad. You guys are tough critics and I value your opinions.
  7. Actually, no. They just kept trying to rub the dirt off my armor. At one point while visiting the kids in their hospital rooms, someone pointed out that it was a sterile environment and I shouldn't be allowed in due to how filthy I was! A little dirt never hurt anybody!
  8. Great job Juan. I especially like the photo of all four of you from below. The one with the beautiful woman isn't so bad either...LOL! Great troop for a great cause!
  9. Thanks Rolf. It's always a good thing to keep those Desert Nomads from eating a few human children! I got a lot of compliments from my garrison mates on my armor. Still a work in progress, but it's getting there.
  10. Thanks Dave, missed you at this one. It was a little lonely being the only Sandie in the group. Some of the other troopers (the clean and shiny ones) kept trying to clean the grime off my armor in front of everyone! Anyway, looking forward to the next one and hangin with a fellow "dirty trooper".
  11. Just wanted to share a few pics from a big charity troop my garrison did this weekend. Fifteen of us trooped and I was the only Sandie. We had a renegade Tusken Raider that I had to subdue!
  12. It's a little bit of everything actually. Textured spray paints, acrylics and some light airbrushing. Glad you like it. It's a little on the heavy side, but I like it. Looks like some serious sandblasting and battle scars.
  13. Hey Dave! Thanks for the nice words. Yes, that is an MRCE lid. I posted some close up shots of it here and on the ECG site. Just added the proper screws to the ear caps.
  14. Here are a few pics of me in my armor. Still have to fix my shoulder straps. They are canvas, but are attached above the armor. I know Sandies don't carry holsters. Mine removes with two snaps behind the belt and is a leftover part of my TK days. Second ammo pouch is attached to my old backpack strap. Will be transfering that to the new pack once it is done. Opinions and comments are welcome!
  15. Thank you to everyone for your info and opinions. I have decided to go for the Filter pack. I always like being a little different anyway. I will post some pics along the way. Just finishing up a pack build for a "Novatrooper" (got an order for one) and then I will hopefully be starting my build.
  16. I'm gonna have to check on the shot gun shells thing. I know about the no black tape. Have to go and watch ANH....again! I guess if I'm going to go with the sergeant's pack, I'm gonna have to ditch my nice orange pauldron for a white one.
  17. So I have been checking out some old posts on pack builds as well as some of the newer builds (including Noels) and it seems like most of the packs are modeled after the "Move Along" pack. I am considering doing the pack with the Air Filter over the Radio just to be a little different. Is there a specific part that has to be used for that filter? If so, where do I get one?
  18. I was thinking the same thing. If that box gets wet, it may warp. You could try sealing it with a matte finish clear spray sealer. I think Krylon makes it and they sell it in most of the craft stores. My wife uses it to seal ceramics and pottery that will be used outdoors. It works pretty good.
  19. Hey Noel, it looks like your mortar tube is mounted directly to the trays and not to the PVC frame. I have seen it mounted both ways. Which way is better? Is one way more screen accurate than the other? Also, what is the material you are using between the frame that the trays are mounted to. It looks like ABS strips. Pack is looking STELLAR!
  20. Thanks Charlie! You are the man!
  21. Does anyone know what the correct length of the mortar tube should be? I will be using 2" Black ABS pipe with the proper end caps. I'm looking for the length with and/or without the end caps installed. I read somewhere in a post (can't find it now) that it should be 29 1/2" before the caps are installed. As always, any info is GREATLY appreciated!
  22. Well, I just got home this morning from working a 24 hour shift to find a present on the table. Apparently this arrived yesterday from my friend in the UK.
  23. I can live with a clean TK wearing a clean white pauldron, it kinda looks cool. I always considered the orange or black pauldrons as for Sandtroopers Only! Especially the orange, it just doesn't look good unless it's on some dirty armor. I have an FX kit and I never got a pauldron! What's up with that!
