  1. We did a troop with Continental Airlines for kids from the Florida Hospital. Although it was a bit unorganized, it was still a rewarding and fun day. Continental brings all the kids to a hanger where they met Super Heros and Star Wars characters. The kids then load up onto a plane with Santa, taxi around the runway for a couple minutes, and then disembark on the opposite side of the hanger where they have pizza, sit with Santa, and get entertained. Look carefully and you'll find the one dirty trooper (myself) and you should be able to find Sith'ari's Elite Novatrooper as well.
  2. I had to reshape a couple pieces of my armor (shoulder bells) when I got them so they'd fit better. I put on two oven mitts and held the pieces over the stove and CAREFULLY let them heat up and opened them up a bit. I was too cheap to buy a modeling iron or a heat gun . You could do the same with the cap but like Nol said be careful.

    Metal Art

Lets see, mortgage and groceries for six months or a 8 foot metal Vader... Hmmmmm... Gotta admit, that's a tough one.
  4. A friend of mine who was in New York found this and bought me the small Boba Fett (he's about six inches tall). I thought it was cool because everything was made basically from garbage. Then I went to the website and saw everything they do. Thought it would be worth sharing (even though they apparently have yet to make a TD). Check out the warriors and especially the spaceships. http://store.metalpark.org/warrior.html

    Questions.MEPD

This is pretty cool! Of course now this means MORE time spent on MEPD.net and less time doing the things I probably should be doing...
  6. That's way more than weird my friend..
  7. I didn't think it got weird until around age 15 or 16 I'll have to look when she gets home but I think the book you mentioned (What to expect..) is the one my wife is reading right now.
  8. Yeah, I know. It was supposed to be a joke . We've actually got a couple of books and thanks to my parents there are probably about 37 more on the way. I do appreciate the advice though.
  9. Thank you guys! I've waited a couple weeks but an instruction manual hasn't shown up in the mail yet. When can I expect that?
  10. Yikes! Gotta love those emotions running wild. I'm sure I'll get my fill of that. Thank you!!
  11. I've worn both 3mm and 2mm wet suits for shows before and I would be careful about it just because you can overheat in them without really realizing it. Add to that the armor and you might be pushing it. I guess if you did shorter troops it wouldn't be too big of a deal. I would be more worried about the longer ones. You could always just move some place warmer. The temperature dropped here last week all the way down to 68!
  12. Oh yeah! I didn't think about that. I wonder how many times I can say, "yeah, this new figure, it's actually for the baby" before she catches on. Terry, regarding what you said, we do feel unbelievably lucky and especially blessed. We're not gonna take it for granted. Again thanks everyone for the kind words. MEPD really is a one of a kind place!
  13. Thanks guys I appreciate it. Now I just need to wait long enough to find out if I'm decorating the bedroom in star wars pink or star wars blue. My wife wants to paint trees and such. I might just have to sneak in an ewok here and there.
  14. The first day I just thought she wasn't feeling well, maybe it was something she ate. The next couple days I was worried that she had caught something. Two pink lines on a stick explained the upset stomach and with that, and a doctors appointment a couple weeks later we confirmed that I'm gonna be a Dad. We're both really excited. And by excited I mean my wife is really excited and I'm completely terrified. Either way... Here we go!
  15. I used only fullers earth to weather mine and I'm really happy with the result. In my opinion it really makes it look like you've been standing out in a sandstorm forever. One trick I found is that if you do one layer over everything you can get rid of the shine that the armor has. Take away that shine and it looks older. I also found that as I was weathering I felt I was using too much until I put the armor together and looked at it as a whole from a couple feet away. I did probably three or four layers and then clear coated the whole thing. The nice thing about weathering is that it's personal and as long as you like it, that's all that really matters.
  16. Thanks for sharing that! Really entertaining.
  17. Nice! I like the Falcon and Slave one pics.
  18. I love my sci-fire. As with pretty much everyone else I would say avoid Cushman. It's tempting because of the price but the quality just isn't that great. Even more than that the customer service is awful. If I were buying again I would seriously consider woodchucks stuff as well as sci-fire.
  19. AND that was while marching to school uphill both ways in seven feet of snow!!
  20. I've got the black one from them and the only issue I've had with it is that it is a little tight (when you wear a neck seal). Without the neck seal it fits fine for me (I'm pretty average build). As with everything you just have to judge accuracy vs price. I'd love to get one of Trooper1's but you know how things can start to add up and $70 is a little steep for me. When the time comes to upgrading, eventually this will be one of the things I'll probably get. Still, I have no regrets buying what I did.
  21. You COULD get two sets of lenses unless you're a doofus like me and just started cutting because you were excited that they came and wanted to get them in the helmet, and didn't measure as well as you know you should have... D'oh
  22. I got mine here : http://www.rjsafety.com/hp3.html Item # HF4178D You'll have to cut it down a little but it works great.
