  1. forum looks great and now that im using firefox 3.6 i have no problems at all IE8 SUCKS!!!! sorry
  2. a couple of thing to remember when deciding on the straps is weight of your pack and average length of wear. i actually stuffed a thin piece of foam inside my under armour for long troops...it helped alot...now i have my pack down to about 8lbs and i usually dont troop long enough for it to bother me....
  3. I use the two piece under armour set....the shirt has a logo on the upper beck neckline that is visible with helmet off or no pauldron. i have blackened mine out.
  4. I use 1" black nylon webbing and cut them to incorporate adjustable clips....total cost about 5.00 and a few mins to pop rivet where normal people might sew works perfect and is thin enough to fit between the shoulder strap system. i actually have a bunch left over if you want it i can ship it US for 4.85 (cost of flat rate priority)LMK

very close to what i do....the only difference is that i actually mix a light sand based grout into my paint. its called latticrete and is available at most home improvement centers. for about 10.00 you can do your armor and about a hundred others. I tried the woodland scenics and about 50 other techniques from across the web and after scrubbing my armor clean and reapplying i ended up where i am at. very happy with the results. you can actually feel the sand on my armor...cool effect with the kids. http://www.lowes.com/pd_45133-73069-1230-0...dTerm=laticrete
  6. How do you get in that thing period????? Cant even imagine How I roll....lol
  7. Thanks Zac.... the switches believe it or not are actually extra long rivets with the surrounds drilled out. the main dial is actually a 3 part piece that the base is a circle cut out from the face and then a file to give it the lines. the second piece is actually not visible....but its a small circle piece of wood that was dremelled out to hold the screw that gives the dial movement. Then theres the 3rd piece that is a modified detergent cap that was cut an glued over the wood circle. the 2 smaller dials are actually some modified dials from radio shack....drilled out and dimpled. the faceplate is basically a bunch of cut sintra scraps. i like sintra for this type of project because it is real easy to cut and sand to the shape you want.
  8. thanks guys....ive made a few and have been trying to upgrade a little bit with each one. this is my first one with an actual accurate center. i love building things with scrap plastic
  9. Here is a pic of a radio that i threw together....its all cut pieces of plastic glued and painted....not vac'd or poured so its not perfect for sure. looking for upgrades to the knobs if available.... was going to put this in other thread but everytime i tried my computer froze.
  10. Nice!!! I could use a set of knobs for my scratch built.....are you going to part are pieces?
  11. Another great topic.... Well for me....I was born in 1971 so I was about 7 when "Star Wars" came out. My parents divorced at a young age so the time I got to spend with my Dad was super special to me. Every summer we would rent a cottage for a few weeks and I would stay with him and my grandparents. I remember like it was yesterday going to the movies to see "Star Wars" the summer of 77....we had to drive about 2 hours to Hartford, CT to see it.... as I road in the back of my grandfathers pinto....rain pouring down....no seatbelt...our german sheppard (Kilo's) dog hair everywhere...lol...from that point I was hooked. I loved the action figures and toy ships that soon became staples in my xmas and bday wish lists....fast forward 30 years and now I have 2 sons of my own. My oldest son Aiden (6 almost 7) is the same way I was back then....his room is loaded with figures and ships and he actually dresses as a Jawa for certain events. Being a sandtrooper is like a dream come true to me... A pic of me and my Dad at the beach cottage
