  1. We have done Lego advents with the kids the past 2 years. They love it. Last year we did the Star Wars one and it is way cool, they change up the contents every year. It is a bit pricey so if you can wait you buy the calendar after Christmas and save it for next year. They were going for half the price at Walmart once January hit.
  2. Jay, I am taking the family there from June 2nd to the 11th. I am not marching though. When are you going? Best regards, Jim Familyjim72@yahoo.com
  3. I like having my PTT in my glove because I can use it the most easily from there. A spot in-between the the thigh armor and cod piece might work well. Here is a tip to putting on your helmet and keeping the mic in place. Put on your headset, then put the foam tip in your mouth between your lips. Try not to drool! Then put on your bucket and spit out the foam tip. Then it will be in a perfect spot. My nephew taught me that trick. Also, make sure the white line on the mic tip faces your mouth. The mic is highly directional. If it is facing the wrong way your voice volume will be muted, the static burst will seem too loud compared to your voice, and the VOX will be set off by sounds other than your voice.
  4. I am happy for you Brother!
  5. Not a bad turn out for a weeknight. We have an awesome squad!
  6. Guys, I did not know there was a thread here or i would have jumped in to help sooner. My apologies. Here is a diagram on how to wire up the aker icomm and wireless kits. Check to see that you have it wired that way first. Also, make sure you are using fresh batteries for the wireless kit. When in doubt work backwords in testing things. 1. First make sure just the amp and wired headset works together. 2. Then make sure the amp works with the icomm, wired mic, and PTT. 3. Then make sure the amp works with the icomm, wired mic, and in Vox mode. 4. Then test the amp with just the wireless headset mic (no iComm). That should pin point the problem. Then email me at familyjim72@yahoo.com. I will arrange a time to call you and give you live support. I will of coarse replace whatever is not working if that is the problem.
  7. Glad I could help, Kirby. I wil ship out your headset in the morning.
  8. I put my iComm in my back armor and attach with industrial strength velcro. I am also able to fit my wireless receiver and Aker MR1506 in the back armor. I had a tough time doing that before with my RomFX and hyperdyne because I also had to fit in a enclosed battery box with it. That is no longer an issue. While i use velcro, i have also take 1" elastic straps, strung them across the inside back armor, and glued them in place. The webbing then keep everything in place a little better. Especially the voice amp.
  9. Unfortunately this already true with pay pal reporting all earning to the IRS.
  10. The old trik toy voice card (the one you have to blown in) is actually the small white radio shack sound amplifier that sells for $15. All that was done was the card was taken out of the protective box. Seemed kind of deceptive to me...also that radio shack is a "sound amplifier" not a voice amplifier. When bought from RS it does not come with a mic and thier is a reason for that. There is no feedback control and it is meant to only amply sound. So feedback will be a big issues unless you can completly isolate any exterior sounds from reaching he mic.
  11. I tried one of the Trik V2 recently. I thought it need a lot more work before selling to legion brothers. I returned mine. I currently use a hyperdyne and a romFX. Both are great and you can't go wrong there. Both need a good voice amp. I of coarse use an Aker vocie amp because I sell them. I am also working on static burst card with My aker supplier. I have been working for months on it and i will have a prototype to play with in a couple of weeks. My objective was to have a simple static burst card that is easy to use an un-complicated. Have it enclosed in a safe box and most importantly be about 30-40% cheaper than the hyperdyne or RomFX. I feel that most troopers want a good static burst but they don't want to pay $160 or to have a fragile card....
  12. I can help you out. I think it is easier to show how to hook things up with a diagram then with a picture. So look at the Before memeorex wireless headset mic" diagram. For voice amps and microphones go to my Sales thread. http://forum.mepd.net/index.php?showtopic=5790 You will not find a better voice amp for your dollar then you with the aker voice amps. Although I am a little biased. The Aker also come with a good wired mic. What are your specific problems with the hyperdyne hook-up? I suggest two things right you use it. 1. Buy or a make a protective box for the hyperdyne card. that thing is too expensive to break or short out with sweat. 2. Wire up an enclosed battery box to power the hyperdyne. There was a recent accident where an exposed battery leaked acid on a troopers skin and it resulted in severe burns. For the batteries and box here are some sources that I use: Lithium rechargeable batteries. they are the size of AA but pack more than twice the voltage in them. 3.7volts compared to the standard 1.5volts. With these lithium's i get the life and voltage of 8 AA's but with little weight or space taken. Plus the battery boxes have switches built into them. I only need 3 lithium's to replace 8 AA's. So now i have 3 lithium's for my hyperdyne. I also use the same set-up to power my helmet fans. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.3435 Charger for the batteries http://dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.4151 3 x AA battery case holder with on/off switch. http://cgi.ebay.com/Battery-case-box-holder-with-switch-3-x-AA-cells-4-5V_W0QQitemZ390111485482QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item5ad474de2a
  13. In an effort to keep from offending anyone with my opinion, i retract my comments. Sorry if offended anyone....
  14. Thanks for the quote Nol. I never mind helping out. Here is the information I give out to noobs when they are looking for some tips on helmet cooling. Bucket Wiring I have a KEV ANH 2.5 helmet which is also smaller than a FX. Here is kevin's website. He makes great stuff. I have a TK and black TX. Both have the same 4-fan cooling system inside. http://www.imperialsurplus.com/ Here is the photobucket folder and photos where you can see pictures of my wiring set-up inside my bucket. I bring in air at the frown with two fans. they blow upward below and outside of my eyes. Then i have a fan at my chin that sucks air downward inside of the helmet and blows out at my neck. Finally, i have a fan at the very top of my head that sucks the hot air in and blow it back down the back of my helmet. Basically i bring in air and remove air at the same rate. In order to achieve good cooling there must be a flow of air. In order for the air to flow there must be a balance of input and output. A good example of an unbalance in air flow is blowing air into a coke bottle. The air you blow in just stops at the top and never circulates to the bottom. The hard hat liner allows the air space for the air flow. I am sure you could get by with two fans at the frown because the neck area is open. However, there will not be as much air hitting the top of your head and there will be nothing to suck the heat out at the top of your head. After suiting up I usually have worked up a good sweat. My system works so well that i put my helmet on to cool off. In Texas this is a must have feature. For more photos. http://s889.photobucket.com/albums/ac100/TK6294/KW%20ANH%202-5/ password 501SGNTS Hard Hat liner: http://www.labsafety.com/AOSafety-Replacement-Six-Point-Pinlock-Suspension-for-Standard-or-Full-Brim-Hard-Hat_s_133039-2/Hard-Hat-Accessories_24537530/ Squirrel Fans. The suck in at the middle and then blow out at the side. Make sure that you buy this model and part number. If you go for more CFM the decibel will be too loud inside your bucket. I made that mistake the first time around. the voltage range for the fans is 10.2v to 13.8v. So you need three of the batteries listed below. http://www.newark.com/nmb/bm5115-04w-b30-l00/blower/dp/14C7796 Lithium rechargeable batteries. they are the size of AA but pack more than twice the voltage in them. 3.7volts compared to the standard 1.5volts. I originally had 8 AA's per two fans. I felt like my whole bucket was full of batteries. When I use 9volts they would not last longer than 2 hours. With these lithium's i get the life of the 8 AA's but with little weight or space taken. Plus the battery boxes have switches built into them. I only need 3 lithium's to replace 8 AA's. So now i have 3 lithium's per 2 fans. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.19770 Charger for the batteries http://dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.4151 3 x AA battery case holder with on/off switch. http://cgi.ebay.com/Battery-case-box-holder-with-switch-3-x-AA-cells-4-5V_W0QQitemZ390111485482QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item5ad474de2a ZD 99 Solder Station http://www.soldertoolsdepot.com/productsdirect.asp?dept=480&main=79&item1=15860+TL&item2=15845+TL&item3=15140+TL&item4=15141+TL&item5=17204+TL Heat shrink tubing http://www.soldertoolsdepot.com/listitems.asp?dept=477

    Day Job

It is tough to get a posting on a starship these days since them rebels blew up the death stars... Maybe I need to go sandy and get a nice planet side posting....
  17. I sell the aker voice amps refereed to in some of these postings. The vocie amps are small enough to fit inside armor with out modification, they are really loud 10-12 watts, they are really clear, they come with a good wired mic, and the have built in rechargeable batteries. As a bonus there are two input ports, one for a mic and one for a mp3 player. Both will work at the same time! The guy that made the sound loops (Daniel) also uses my amps. You said you are tired of cords. Check out my memorex wireless headset mics. They will let you hard wire everything and then eliminate the cord that runs from your bucket to your armor. It makes it much easier to take off put on your bucket. I also make and sell the the Push to Talk (PTT) Cables. They do give a single click after talking. However, you don't need a static click after talking if you have a romFX. But you might like being able to control when you can be heard or not. I also suggest that you replace your battery system with an enclosed box with rechargeable lithium batteries. I use trustfire 3.7volt AA. You can typically replace a 9 volt with three trustfire batteries. I place a link below. Then you need an enclosed box (See ebay link). There was a brother recently who was severely burned by battery acid that leaked out onto his back. If you have any questions o nmy gear or the other stuff just PM or email me (FamilyJim72@yahoo.com). 18. The Smoking T21: Woodchuck, Lights, Sound, & Smoke=Awesome! Finally done! This is my T21 Lewis gun. The details on what is inside are located below the video before the pictures. First off a video of my gun. For details on the innards. *Gun: It was made by a master woodsmith known as "the Woodchuck". The gun is made out of wood with the exception of the middle barrel. I asked Woodchuck to make the end barrel hollow so that I could add my modifications. I had considered buying a cushman but I did not like the look for the cost. Woodchuck did an awesome job as you can see by the pictures. *Sound: I have a $15 mini mp3 player set up to play heavy blaster sound in a nonstop loop. I have the mp3 player hooked into one of my 10watt Aker voice amps. It is small enough to fit right into the barrel of the T21 without modification. It is plenty loud as you can hear in the video (If you are interested in one of my amps please see the link below). I control the blaster sound with a push to talk cable that I made myself. It is a male to male audio cable with a micro momentary push button wired in-between. The push button is wired out to the trigger. In a few weeks I will be making a bunch of these PTT cables to sell along with my amps. So when I hold down the button the audio connection is made and the blaster sound plays through my amp. Aker Voice Amps Link: http://www.501stforums.com/forum/viewtopic...&highlight= *Lights: I have three small red LED lights that are turned on by a lighted toggle switch wired to the outside of the T21. Those lights tell me the gun is powered. Then I have twenty 10mm red LED lights wired to shine out of the gun. Another lighted toggle switch is wired to the outside of the T21 to turn them on. However, I also wired another micro momentary push button to turn the 20 LED lights on and off. I wired that push button to the T21 trigger and piggy backed it onto the sound push button. So when I push down the micro momentary push buttons the sound comes on and the lights turn on. Both the sound and the lights stay on until I release the buttons. All of the lights are powered by three Lithium Ion 3.6volt batteries. The advantage of these batteries is that one lithium battery replace two AA batteries. *Smoke: This is the really cool part. I hacked up and modded a miniature fog machine into the barrel of the T21. The smoke machine is powered by the same three lithium batteries that power the lights. The fog machine is turned on by the third lighted toggle switch wired to the outside of the gun. There are also three blue LED lights wired into the same switch as the fog machine to indicate inside the gun that the machine is on. To control the fog/smoke exhaust there is a squeeze bulb wired from the fog machine inside the barrel to the outside of the T21 and located on the handle below the trigger. All I have to do to make the fog/smoke come out of the gun is flip the lighted toggle switch on and squeeze the bulb on the gun handle. If you are wondering where I found the miniature fog machine go to www.zerotoys.com. I stumbled across these smoke ring guns last year and I bought one for each of my kids. They are really cool and I recommend them to anyone with kids (adults love them too). I also bought one of their wizard wands. The wand just expels smoke/fog in a steady stream. The wizard wand was my inspiration for the smoking T21. I talked to the inventor and owner of zerotoys and he was very helpful with tips on modding. He even supplied me with some of the original wand prototypes. With some serious cutting, rewiring, and re-plumbing I was able to fit the wand into my T21 and make it work. Here are some pictures http://' target="_blank">
  19. Sorry about that. I forgot the link! Too much multitasking going on here. the link is now below. http://cgi.ebay.com/10pc-Mini-Micro-PUSH-B...=item58834f9079
  20. Harley, You will need a switch like pictured on the ebay listing below. You will also need a 3.5mm male mono audio cable. You will have to splice one end of the cable to the button and leave the male end for your hyperdyne card. I don't think Radio Shack will have the buttons. If you have a fry's electronics nearby they should have it. I already shipped your amp or I would have thrown in a extra button (if I could find it).
  21. I just weathered mine last night and treated the stock. It is a woodchuck special. I have a lot of electronics to add still. How did you make the metal sight? i would like to do something just like that....
  22. Looks awesome! where did you get the ring and gun sight on the barrel? Is that a woodchuck T21?
