  1. We may not all celebrate Christmas but I want to share a holiday wish with each one of you and your family and friends. Merry Christmas from the Woodman!
  2. That was the quote I was talking about but couldnt find it. Thanks alot for posting it.
  3. Well since I worked with JM Leather to get the unknown pouch made the Private has in the roadblock scene I have chosen this trooper to do for my deployement. He has a some intresting details to his pack. I snipped some screen caps of them and I am open to your opinions on some of them. Some of the main details are... what # pack is this one called? No blue bottle on bottom of cistern. The tube opposite of the motar seems to have a metallic cap or fitting at the top and some details along it's side in 2 places. some kind of detailing in the same spot the "shotgun shells" are on the Captains pack. I am unsure of the exact details but they look to be in simple terms a square piece/a bunch of holes in a uniform square section/square piece. The top blue bottle has a different type of cap and not a mushroom cap. Also the top blue bottle is clearly not a wetones bottle because the top is very rounded and the diameter seems larger. There are some straps/tape/bands holding the radio on and a detail around the bottom of the radio. The motar tube doesnt have a top white cap. The detail where the "toolbox" goes seems to be a rectangle frame about 3/4" thick and has some ribs in the middle part.
  4. I will dig up the quote from one of the "making of..." books that says that the packs were cobbled together from boy scout backpack frames and some other things bought from a local source.
  5. Yeah I have what can only be described as a "solid" build. My clone armor fits me like a trash can around the gut. Thanks alot for tha great comments. I am not far off. I am just going to get it approved 501st as a captain and then build the roadblock Private with the box pouch for my deployment.

    Hello all

Well formally welcome aboard Marvin the guys here are super nice and always ready to help plus they have the best TD info around. Congrats on the news of the little one bro!
  7. are you spraying the glue on both surfaces to be bonded? you should, then let both parts(vinyl and radio) dry to the touch only slightly tacky and then press them together and make sure you have them in the right place they should bond like crazy. looking good so far. Woody
  8. I suited up today to make a list of what is left to do and get a feel for the armor. I need to cut more off the bottom of my shins, weather the other thigh, finish the belt, add the other pouches, finish the pack. I took the helmet apart to sand it clean and weather it to match my style since I bought it already weathered. I ordered a sheet of visor stuff from TK4510.I need to make a neckseal also. Gotta work on the T-21 too. Tell me what you think. I dont feel to fat in it either like I do in my Fett.
  9. I need to find out more details. I was on the Legion board and in a thread for JRS patches I found this info and did a search.
  10. no doubt you'd be pretty snazzy. The red/white one would be alright for something custom here in Arkansas since or state colors are always red/white on everything.
  11. anyone read about this yet? PP will be reporting any account activity above 200 transactions and/or a gross total balance of or over $20,000. Not all in the account at once but when you reach one or the other they will report it to the IRS. I am floored over this. I may not do much business here but I do at TDH and this will really put the jam on me(I am sure it will many of you also). One thing I dont understand is since it's an IRS thing is it fair that they dont have to turn in people outside the US. I am not blowing the whistle on those people just trying to make a point that they are not paying so why should we? Looks like I am going to be watching my account like a hawk and requesting payment by money order alot more. I am not a great fan of taxes though I more than understand the need for them but come on they are going to all but ruin any coin runs or patch runs since they are sometimes in the 100 plus transactions. end of rant...Woodman
  12. I got my two today and they are great! They are OLD though. One pouch is as hard as a rock but the shape is fine not crushed. I have been doing nightly searches on the origin and use of these pouches and so far I have found out that they were supplied to Italian troops fighting with the Spanish in the Spanish Civil War. I have not found any info about the other two sizes yet but I am still looking.
  13. Thanks boss, the blue isnt as "loud" in person and when I weather it the tone will calm down a bit. I have the antenna box and pipe in the works right now and the lab pipe is already on the other side.
  14. I am pretty far along with the build now so I thought I would post some pics. The frame is a vintage Boy Scout frame and the trays, twinkie, dome, det panel and curved cistern riser are Crashmann. I used tupperware pudding cups, pitcher lid and hamburger stackers and Wet ones cans also. The motar tube is thin walled PVC pipe and the caps are scratch made sheet styrene. The pudding cups are a bit smaller than the real ones but I had several so I used them anyway. I did some mods to the frame by cutting out an 1 1/2" from the bottom outer rail and of course the side bends and relocated the top rail to the very top. The straps are from one of my kids old backpacks. I am working on a sratchbuilt radio faceplate so I just laid the parts out to take the pic.
  15. Still those Red Rain guys do look SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!
  16. The MEPD patrol section isnt just for non-canon TD patrols. you can have all canon TDs' too.
  17. I upload my pics to photobucket then instead of the direct link I copy the IMG code and paste it directly in the text box with my message.
  18. Happy Thanksgiving to all everywhere!

    Grout?

Look at the last pic I posted in my "weathering woodmans' armor" thread, I used non-sanded natural colored grout and I think it looks awesome. I sponged a bit of grey, light tan/khaki and raw umber paint on the armor but not too big an area and then sprinkled the grout on and with a rubber glove on I lightly rubbed at it and it boned with the paint and made a really great looking real dirt look. Here's the pic
  20. Too cute...you softy! I remember my first stuffed animal, man that was a long time ago!
  21. oh man, I feel for you...LOL! That's great I have 3 boys myself so dont be scared it happens to the best of us!
  22. I have tried some different methods and I like this look the most.
  23. Thanks for the tips, I am waiting to spray the Dullcote until I do the Fullers Earth
  24. I have most of my armor together so I wanted to work on weathering some of the parts. I have some Fullers Earth on order but I wanted to post for feedback. I am going for a well worn look but not over the top. I wanted some places to look worn like no just dirty but old and worn against by the arms like the sides of my chest. Here are the pics.
