  1. Glad to see you enjoying the armour bro. I'm kinda missing it though Send me some pics once it's all done.
  2. I have a set of VT armour and I must admit that I think it is very nice indeed. He is great to deal with and the pricepoint is good too. The armour arrived well packaged and within the timescale he quoted. I don't care about the "recast" issue. It's a great kit. Here are a few (poor) pics of my sandy. GD it! Can't upload! Can't link to picasa! Only one pic for now.
  3. Nothing wrong with that ebay seller. He is trustworthy and wont rip you off. Recast? Most certainly. Decent product at a good price? Very much so.
  4. Use woodland scenic paint and layer with fixative spray
  5. The UK royal mail always advise to allow 28 days for the delivery/return cycle to complete before losing heart completely. I'm sure other countries are similar.
  6. I feel for you brother. I've had a similar experience before. But the moral of this story is most certainly to front up the extra cost for tracked and insured shipping for the full value of the item. Too many people try to save a buck or two by opting for the lowest price or misdeclaring the true value of the item. If, like in your case the rules are different, ship FedEx or UPS.
  7. The weathering is fantastic mate. I'm also loving the black pauldron. Great photos too.
  8. Is this going to turn into a "look at my hot wife" thread? Because that would be awesome
  9. I'm afraid you are lookIng at the unavoidable face of consumerism meets technological advancement. If you build it they will come.
  10. Where abouts in Blighty are you? I'm a Londoner.
  11. I favour costumebot's solution of using a neoprene backbrace/corset to attach the legs to as it has the added benefits of both giving you a little support as well as holding in the excess tummy
  12. Great video. How does the extra backpack strapping work? Do you have a diagram?
  13. Use watercolours like woodland scenics. If you don't fix them they will easily wash off with soap and water.
  14. You guys not issued FROG? Stay Safe Gyrene
  15. Great work. I recently bought a hyperfirm so would love to know what you did/used to make the modifications, please.
  16. Which maker of armour is that? Looks like you've missed the ab buttons too.
  17. I was born in the UK in 1972 and saw the original Star Wars after being taken to see it with my parents when it first came out here. I was hooked. We moved to Scotland as a Family around the same time and back then there was very little for a child to do but excercise his imagination. Star Wars filled mine. I had most of the Palitoy figures and vehicles. I drew stories and space battle scenes. I bought every issue of Star Wars weekly comic. I played Star Wars with my friends. I was always Luke Skywalker. I loved stormtroopers and always dreamed of having my own stormtrooper suit. Star Wars was my world when I was growing up. As the years moved on and the other movies came and went my interests moved on. I was reading 2000AD and moving into more grown up hobbies such as Tae Kwon Do and Triathlon. Star Wars drifted out of my life. The prequel movies were disappointing and never quite managed to rekindle the original flame in my heart for the story. By then I was working and my hobby had become airsoft. I got into collecting military gear and gaming. I started the www.wannabe.uk.com website a few years ago together with one of the most popular and well-known gear forums online today at wannabe.iphbost.com. All this somehow led me full circle and into buying my first FX stormtrooper costume for shits n grins. I can't honestly say that I am back in the Star Wars fold completely but I'm enjoying my little bit of dress-up nonsense now that I am pushing 40. I'm currently finishing off my TD. I've just completed a Boba Fett, I have an ESB TK and a Jango Fett in progress, with a complete Jawa and a Tusken also in progress. I wish I had photos like in the first post. I just have memories.

Loving the new look. Any chance of a stealth "work safe" plain invision skin?
  19. The MICH pads can be ordered here: http://www.oregonaero.com/ballistic-helmet...lmet-liner-pads or here: http://cgi.ebay.com/MICH-ACH-PASGT-Kevlar-...=item518fca3e6e
  20. I'm sure most troopers here have found out that there is a big difference between how weathering looks in person and how it looks in a photo. Back when they shot the original movie they would be coping with harsh Tunis sun, infill lighting, filters, limitations on the film etc. There are many photos showing props guys touching up armour to be more dark on set presumably after test shots had been taken.
  21. Thanks ... Coming from you that really means a lot
  22. How's the rest of the armour shaping up?
  23. Looks really good. An awful lot like how I did my own lid. The markings on the dome look more like scorch-marks than dirt though. Was this the effect you were going for?
  24. I didn't say he owned the rights. Remember all the courts are saying is that is is able to manufacture replicas of the design. As for it being art: the product is intended to be worn on the head as part of a costume and, it could be argued, does indeed have a utilitarian purpose (as opposed to art which by definition does not). History has however blurred the lines between art and object. After all one man's art is another man's urinal. http://www.copyrightservice.co.uk/protect/p15_design_rights
