  1. I know in the past people have sometimes even just made it out of wood. I reckon you could possibly scratch build it out of styrene. Did you get anywhere with the mortar tube. That was the only thing other than the DLT-19 that I was gonna mention. It is a little too long at the top. Other than that its a cracking build mate. Really impressed. Nick
  2. Yep I've already played it. My 5 year old daughter thinks its we'll cool. Nock
  3. I know it's not canon for anyone other than those horrible Special Edition "things" but it was a steal on ebay. Nick
  4. Hans, Please remember that the 501st standards for "basic" Sandtrooper clearance are not directed towards any particular character in the movie. You do not need to emulate any particular trooper in order to gain 501st approval you simply need to have a moderately accurate Sandtrooper that meets all the CRL requirements, which, its fair to say, are pretty broad. Having a specific armour from the film to copy is not even a MEPD "Police Officer" requirement. Just the CRL is a bit more specific. With regards to the spanish pouches, no they are not referred to in either CRL but the CRL does state 2 or 3 total pouches made of canvas or leather. Spanish pouches are acceptable for MEPD Police Officer and 501st clearance as we know they are screen accurate. If any GML has a problem with that they can come here and discuss it with us! The tube stripe issue and number of teeth is something that is being discussed behind closed doors, but in the meantime my suggestion is to make your helmet with 8 teeth and then fill 2 in and repaint when and if you go for SWAT. Nick
  5. Awesome drawing. I was looking at it and thought "oh such a Shane his binocs are backwards!" Lol. Nick
  6. Cool ill bring it mate no worries. Nick
  7. I've got Heart of an Empire if you want I can bring it to MEM for you mate? Nick
  8. Frank, I simply used the same process as weathering my armour for my canvas pouch, much like dry brushing weathering onto weapons. The canvas shouldnt suck up paint if it is already dry. Just use a light brown type colour to give it a used and work look. Nick
  9. Frank, Awesome build mate, looks really good and I'm glad to see you've gone for some of the accurate details of the "move along" trooper from the very start. I would echo what Marcus said and say I think your thighs could do with lifting a little, they should almost meet your cod at the top ideally (I know its hard sometimes because of leg shapes and such). It also looks like you've got a strange shape on the back of your left thigh, maybe try and level that out so its a smooth shape at the back. Other than that as Mike has already said, you are very nearly there for deployment. Nick
  10. The only thing you have missing for uber accuracy is the wire wrapped around the T-tracks mate. But that won't stop this getting cleared here as it is spot on in every other sense. Nick
  11. Vince, Thats a great effort you've put in there you should not have to do too much to get through this. One thing I've seen so far is, I think your helmet ear screws should be flat head and countersunk to be flush with the surface and be painted white. I think your pauldron could also do with some weathering but I dont think this will stop you from deployment. Maybe paint the brads on your left side white also. Lovely pack by the way. Nick
  12. Wow Brad this is purely awesome. Can't wait to see it in person at MEM. Although I think you'll upstage most of the rest of us you inconsiderate bugger! Nick
  13. Yeh congratulations are in order. I dont know much about the personalities involved but I hope she has a smooth ride as CO. Nick
  14. That looks great mate, depending on whether your lid will sit on it nicely enough. Im sure it can be modified to work. Nick
  15. Haha, well good luck for Sunday mate. I'm sure it will all be great, just put your own take on it, make the role your own, dont over sell it but dont undersell it either, remember why you are there is the most important piece of advice I can give. Nick
  16. Daz, that is a great looking pack mate, really well done, hope it goes together nicely for you. Nick
  17. I kinda don't wanna post any more to let it stay at 1000........DOH!!!! Nick
  18. Ha, really awesome effort Dave nice to see my old E-11 put to good use. Looking forward to seeing these in person in a few weeks brad. Nick
  19. I too was searching for answers on this topic a while ago and here was the discussion http://forum.mepd.net/index.php?showtopic=9778 Nick
  20. Not planning on that yet Marcus but the thought had crossed my mind. Nick
  21. Well I finally got around to making the Dewback prod that I have been promising myself for ages. I used a 2m length of alluminium tube that used to be a curtain pole, and added some greeblie bits to the end from various pieces of conduit accesories I found in my local hardware store. Painted Silver they look OK. The whole thing splits in 2 and is screwed in place with a piece of plastic conduit inside the join to hold the 2 bits together. Should get its first outing at MEMORABILIA next month. Nick
  22. Great idea Ben. I put my Aker inside my medium Spanish pouch on my belt and it achieves the same thing. You've come up with a novel way of keeping your costume accurate whilst allowing for functionality. Well done. Nick
