  1. This is a very interesting topic (not so much the Kelly Le Brock talk, but hey she was still very hot!) I have never experienced anything paranormal myself, but have always thought there must be soemthing out there. My mother in law has to sleep with the covers over her head because spirits talk to her all the time, she has to tell them to go away. I told her she should become a medium, but it scares her so its best not to. I have just started watching all the episodes of Ghost Adventures on Youtube and have become kind of obsessed with paranormal stuff now. Nick
  2. I can vouch for the fact that they are awesome for how cheap they are. If you spend alot of time and effort, checking ref pics, you can also make a virtual exact replica of a real Sterling. Nick
  3. To be perfectly honest with you Dan. Instead of building your armour up bit by bit, I would suggest building your finances up bit by bit and then getting a whole set when you are ready to do so, that way it is all the same and you can use the same techniques to build it. Patience is a virtue on something like this. I am nearly 3 years into researching joining the 501st and I am still not finished with my armour that I got this summer. Nick
  4. I tried loctite ultra gel and the damned things just will not bond. I am using standard black marigold gloves from my local supermarket. Any tips? Nick
  5. Amazing mate. I had a real blast making mine. You did amazing getting that sub assault game for £2. Well done mate. Look forward to joining you with my armour soon! Nick
  6. That's a Master Replicas Collectors Edition helmet that has been updated a bit to look a bit more realistic, see the ear screws. Good thing to have in your collection, and you can modify it for trooping, but it isn't really anywhere near as good as a kit helmet. Here is my MRCE next to my Kit made ATA helmet. MRCE on the left. Nick
  7. It's awful. I think its cheap flimsy plastic too. Very lacking in details for such a high price too. You can get a MRCE for that price if you trawl Ebay. Nick
  8. I have some of Karin's lovely latex hand guard and was wondering if anyone had any tips on how is best to glue them to rubber gloves? Should I do it with them on? Because as far as I can see I need them to follow the contour of the back of my hand? Cheers Nick
  9. Just a quick update on this build. Things have been coming slowly recently but I am comitted to seeing it through. Recently I have been getting the strapping system right (which is a lot of trial and error as Im sure you all know) And I have nearly completed putting all the parts together. The good thing about having my pack and weaponry done before hand is that once the armour is put together, fitted and weathered I am ready for clearance. I'll keep you updated with some build shots once I have it all put together. Nick
  10. That's the understatement of the year. I wouldn't have even known where to start if it weren't for places like here and FISD. It is so great to see a community where there are so many people willing to help others. Hope I can do the same once I am a trooping veteran. Nick
  11. Thanks mate, I will post some pics as and when I can, I am still working on getting everything together. I have the full right side trimmed and assembled, and the full torso done. Just need to finalise how things go together and then work on the left side. Not too much longer I feel. Nick
  12. Hey Juan, I'm doing fine thanks mate, build is coming along (although slowly due to having 2 small kids to look after and a shift work job) I just hit this stumblinhg block when trying to put the sides together. I trimmed everything correctly but the back had a much wider bend in it which was making the sides of the back stick out further. I have done as the guys suggested and it looks great now, so I dont have any pictures Im afraid. Sorry. Many thanks for your help though. Nick
  13. Cool guys thanks, so I should aim for a minimal gap between the front and back and use a strip of styrene instead of elastic straps to hold them together. That will actually help with them sliding up and down and losing alignment too. Many thanks I'll give it a try Nick
  14. Can anyone help me to discover why this is happening, and what I an do to correct it please? Not sure if the image is clear enough but basically the back sides are sticking out about a quarter inch outside the front sides. Nick
  15. Mike, Couldnt you just hang on until you have some more funds and then get a larger chest plate, maybe AM or something like that, I believe there are some that are markedly bigger. Nick
  16. Well I got the bucket pretty much finished. The only thing left to do is fit the fans and headset for the Icomm when I get them. Here it is in all it's glory. ATA helmet. All decals are hand painted. Green lenses and no mesh behind frown ready for SWAT clearance. Correct number of teeth on frown for the "Stop that Ship" trooper. Next to my MRCE helmet. ATA is on the left in case you didnt guess. Hope you enjoyed looking. I will post some shots of the armour when I have it a bit more advanced. Its going slowly so far but Im getting there. Nick
  17. I just used some 2mm thick alluminium bar from b&q.
  18. THanks for the kind words guys. I've been busy trimming parts and trying them on to see if they fit. This is harder than I thought it would be, but I am getting there slowly. Waiting for my snaps to arrive so I can start putting stuff together. Meantime I have the Helmet assembled, just waiting for an appropriate time to paint it. Comments welcome as always. Thanks again Nick
  19. Awesome can't wait to see the results. Nick
  20. On this subject does anyone know if you can get these made with a white text on clear background, trimmed just around the lettering, like an Airfix model kit's transfers? Cos when I looked at home priting some the best I could find was white paper that you would have to colour match the dark colour of the radio to and print out a square with the lettering on. Nick
  21. I'm in on these too please guys. I looked into making some for my radio, but if you can get them done then I'll be up for some. Nick
  22. My ATA armour arrived today (thanks again Terrell) so I'm a very happy boy today. Very daunting though to look at all the work I have to do. Still that's what this is all about. I'll post more pics as I go along. Nick
  23. You need a pack for MEPD Police Officer status before you even go for SWAT mate so you would need one. Nick
