  1. Thanks guys! Im really happy with what i have so far. I will be posting pics soon of some other parts i cast over the weekend.
  2. Thanks John! Yea i always knew there was something behind it that was a larger disc..it just dawned on me when i actually had the 2 lids in my hand...that maybe they used half n half lol
  3. thanks Rick! Yea for now im just going to cast it as 1 piece, unlike the doopy kit. Id like to maybe cast it in pieces so when you assemble it it looks like it works. As far as functioning, it would probably have to be metal, i dont think a working resin folding stock would hold up. But hey, it will probably be somethin ill mess with and if i get it to work, ill offer it with the kit!
  4. nice! sounds like it! I really want to try and figure out a way to make the trigger work if the builder wants Id have to make the entire assembly multi part. It may be a secondary thing i'd work on.
  5. and here it is! i guess we can say that was a happy lil discovery for me tonight lol
  6. Sweet! Mine is goin on the pack like this then
  7. Roger that! Yea i was just sitting here looking at my older larger lid and then it just hit me as i was lookin at reference pics here is mine set up like that:
  8. So today i got in the smaller lid that is the 4.5" size. I switched it from my 5.5" size one. Then i was looking at reference pictures. It looks like maybe they put the smaller grooved part on a larger back lid with the edge cut off. Look at this pic What do you guys think? Im gonna set mine up like that and snap a pic to compare.
  9. Thanks guys..im hoping to have em available by the spring at the latest.
  10. Been posting this progress over on the FISD, but figured id cross post it here as well since some Sandy's use E-11s too! So i decided to get a cut up sterling Machine gun and take casts off the parts to offer E-11 blaster kits to build onto a PVC pipe, similar to DoopyDoo's kits, but better, and made here in the USA to save american troopers on shipping. (doopyDoos is UK based). Features i intend to have are more detailed parts, like separate detail pieces on the Mag housing, an accurate inner bolt/cocking handle/ inner barrel, more accurate front nozzle, a seperate grip so you can actually use a real grip if you desire, and i will cast all parts in black onyx resin, so no more scratches that show up in white! I will also offer kits in both ANH and ESB stunt/promo/snowtrrooper versions and also make the Sandtrooper stunt version with the seam along the back and no trigger etc. So.... Sterling parts: Basically i need to take molds off of all the necessary parts, cast them, and mod anything that fits on the barrel/PVC pipe to fit it correctly and then make new molds of those parts. Its a apin in the butt, but it will be worth it, as i plan to make this kit much better than the doopyDoos kit. I will offer a few ranges of kits as well to hopefully fit anyones budget. I will also offer ANH and ESB stunt/promo versions. Im going to work with Evilboy to include his scoperails/henglster brackets as well. Here are some of the first castings. A couple of them miscast, but you get the idea. I left all the corrosion and natural weathering from the originals so you can see that in some of the castings. They also have dirt on them from the original parts. With time that will fade, plus i will be casting the kits in black onyx resin so it will be less noticeable due to that as well. First is the Mag housing. I cast all the detail pieces separate for a more realistic look. Here is the clip, it miscast a bit and will be shortened a bit more, but you get the idea Here is the rear site and bayonet lug: here is the un-modded nozzle. i just need to widen it at the base, and will also make it to cast front and back to fit nicely on the inner barrel. here is a comparison with mine (left) and doopy doos(right). you can see why i think theirs may be fabricated. The shapes are all wrong and the bolts arent even Allen bolts! Doopy's on top, DVH on the bottom All the allen bolts are in rubber at the moment. The kit will include the cast allen bolts so you can use those as "pins" to assemble, or you can use real allen bolts.
  11. I absolutely agree Paul is crazy when it comes to detail! I was just saying that its natural for something to be slightly off, and in Pauls case i mean SLIGHTLY...when its an original sculpt, i wasnt knocking Pauls work at all.
  12. interesting! they were all over the place eh? lol So i guess any 2 identical handplates would be ok.
  13. Ya know...i was wondering...how did they get the face so perfect...something that has taken Paul years to do, (and even his still look a tiny bit off next to an original)....but yet the back plate rectangle is still too big and too sharp. That may explain it..but i have no proof..just going by what Paul said...kinda makes sense. Anyway, Even idealized as FX/AM is meant to be, the back should have that swoop from the rectange's edge to the actual backplate, and the rectangle should definitely be smaller. this is going to get interesting!
  14. oy lol. Well i meant the oddness. are we sure where he had 2 right handplates wasnt a flipped shot? We know Lucas was known for doing that. Oh and I wasnt trying to be derogatory or anything by saying i thought it was discussed before, i realize now it may have sounded that way, and it was unintentional.
  15. I thought it was establlished already that he had 2 left handplates. Karin offers move along sets like this. Either way its still a cool discovery and i8 have planned on doing the 2 left handplates eventually for my rebuild. Not sure where it was disscussed...mebbe it was on FISD.
  16. Ya learn somethin every day! Im gonna try and make a blaster like those Sandtrooper ones. cool info bro!
  17. Nice work Walt! Glad to see the old helmet finally becoming a thing of the past! Looking forward to seeing a built up helmet and new armor! looks really great Walt!
  18. Yea the guys were NOT happy about that. Especially cuz they decided to cap the number of troopers we would provide. Why would you do that and fill in with crap rubies suits, when you could have all 501st members there? horrible, and embarrassing. BAD call on the producers part.
  19. Sent over a few bucks..my thoughts are with you guys
  20. Great pics Rolf! Here is my Fave. (Which is why its my avatar )This was taken at a hospital visit that has a festival every year for the kids. I love this pic because we used our tattooine wall for the first time and it really makes the pic feel like Star Wars. This is full TE2 armor. Ive since sold the armor and replaced it with ATA ABS. I JUST sold the helmet and have ordered a RS props helmet kit
