  1. Through a fortunate turn of events I was able to buy back my original TD suit I entered the Legion with from a garrison mate just recently! With a new pack from Rick and a new BFG (soon) I once again pronounce myself: dirty. Glad to be back in the sand pit! Cheers!
  2. Thanks Mike for everything! Congrats Noel; it is an honor to serve under you.
  3. Well done; I like the blending of the colors.
  4. Thanks Gordonator... actually I do a Clone Wars Kenobi costume as well... however the white in the beard pushes me more toward the episode IV version...
  5. Congrats! I guess since we entered together we'll be in the same patrol...
  6. Thanks Zac so much! I am more than thrilled! And thanks all my brothers here for the encouraging words and compliments and advice. To have built a screen accurate costume of my favorite Original Trilogy character (with the help of MEPD of course) is a dream come true. And to be able to wear it with pride representing the Legion, the MEPD, and the Georgia Garrison is a truly great honor. THANK YOU ALL!
  7. Got my Legion TD # today! http://www.501stlegion.org/members/display...amp;costumeID=2
  8. Thanks Mike. Yep, the shoulders straps and belt are soft canvas.
  9. You know what Mike, since I've been growing my hair out several people have said that. I don't quite know if it's a good thing or bad thing. I'll say this: I do need to lose about 40 lbs...
  10. Thanks. Actually that BFG is a fanmade weapon I bought off of a gentleman here last year. I quite like it.
  11. FULL NAME: Derek Struchtemeyer 501st TD ID: 9254 LOG IN NAME: Daric LaRone GARRISON: Georgia Thank you to all members of MEPD for help, encouragement, and for camaraderie.
  12. Well, I've purchased over half of the pieces I need for my Special Edition Boba Fett I'm building. Also I completed another costume; it's not even 501st (it's Rebel Legion :o ) but I thought you guys would get a kick out of it... Hello there! Now I just need to color the beard and lose 50 lbs!!!
  13. Aha! Replace it... now there's an idea. I have some neck trim left over from Smitty over at FISD when he was still in business. Dumb question: is neck trim and brow trim the exact same or different? Thanks for all the help from all you seasoned MEPD officers. I so appreciate it. This is what makes the MEPD so very awesome.
  14. :o I threw up in my bucket a little bit... Although I cannot judge. Yeah, I bought this AP assembled and it's great... except the browtrim moves around a bit. I bet I can scoot it up a bit and glue it. Thanks for the tip. My pack is coming along nicely... reporting for deployment very, VERY soon!
  15. Thanks Dutchy! I wasn't planning on changing the brow trim but I am very open to any suggestions for improvements; so please tell me what you had in mind.
  16. Well, ask and you shall receive... Not quite ready for deployment (especially the pack) but presentable... Need to strap down that chest plate obviously, reposition the pouches a bit, and other tweaks but I like the overall look I've achieved. Thanks to MEPD.
  17. Of course this all benefits me b/c I bought the old pack from my garrison mate Mike and am in the process of upgrading that one as we speak! Now I can see the before and (optimal) after! Great job with the new pack Mike! And great talking with you this evening; thanks for the advice on getting suited up to patrol the Hive (of scum and villany of course)!
  18. Thanks for asking... armor is how I want it as well... Putting finishing touches on fieldpack in order to go for deployment... Stay tuned.
  19. Yeah, it's weird... I wasn't necessarily going for a specific result persay... it was definitely a progression, stages of weathering I suppose. You're right- the markings on the dome (which I quite like how they came out personally) could be identified as scorch marks (actually I've classified them as moisture farmer residue ), but I see them more as a dirt/grime/rust/dewback poodoo build-up if you will... which is actually the technique I used... weathering powder, then a bit of paint, then a bit more powder, until I got what I was looking for. Same with the facial features as well really. If one can go so far as to call what we do here "art", then I can totally see how an artist takes a piece through progressions or stages and (somehow) comes out with something he very much likes and others find interesting as well.
