  1. Nice suit you got there... wonder who assembled and weathered it, must be some sort of genius Looking good mate, I'm glad it went to a good home
  2. Lots of shiny alum parts there... nice! R2 building is loads of fun! No matter if you scratchbuild or "just" buy and assemble parts, you will learn a lot during the build and make good friends along the way as well. Oh and you'll end up having a droid (or two...) Here's my R2 - It's a mix of scratchbuilt parts (frame, legs, feet, some detail parts) and club "run" parts (skins, dome, other detail parts ) and is fully remote controlled - Cost me roughly 1.500 Euros in materials (that's $2.000... wow!) and I'm planning to upgrade soon. Did I mention an R2 is a neverending project?
  3. Just thought I'd do a little update. Some of my mates want me to have that TD done for our Moviepark event in September (right Jens? ) which is going to be a tough one, but I'll try. I'm pretty much done with the clutch DLT19 now, and have started on a backpack, which is not going to be 100% screen accurate, but it'll do for a start, as I have that deadline there Knowing me, I'll upgrade it later, but that's half the fun anyway, isn't it? The only thing I'm really missing is the armour But it's my birthday soon, and that should bring me a lot closer to solving this as well In the meantime, I'm just geeking out with what I have:
  4. Looking good to me - maybe you should take some pics in daylight without flash, as it might be causing the yellow to be so prominent. And yeah, getting all that hair into the bucket can be quite a pain! I usually wear a balaclava though and have them run down my back. But then dreads are another difficulty level I guess
  5. Oh boy... I need to go change my pants... A M A Z I N G !!! Can't wait for a run of these!
  6. Thanks for the praise - your suit has been one of my main inspirations
  7. Another little update. I just weathered the first set of my new version latex handguards. Those come from new moulds and are super sharp, and cast in white latex. I will soon be offering those in a second run - the first happened on the FISD. I will be offering both the white latex version and the "classic" honey coloured latex version painted white. Anyway, here are pics of the first "prototype":
  8. I've got the MG34 waiting to be finished, some backpack parts kicking about and yep, I have a nice pauldron already Currently I'm saving up some cash to order a set or armour to go with that lid, and I'm waiting for my second pair of TK boots to be returned to me by a fellow Garrison member, so I can dirty them up Here's a pic showing the current status, kind of:
  9. Nah, Jens and me we're both in the far west of Germany - Ruhr area to be more specific. Jens won't be there next weekend, but make sure to look for the longhaired weirdo cursing like a maniac trying to get those legs back on R2
  10. That will take a while mate, but when I'm there you'll be the first to know Maybe we'll get a chance to troop together late this summer! I really hope I'll be able to get everything together by August. Fingers crossed
  11. I just thought "what the heck" and went for it. It's no Sandy without the dirt, so there's no way around it anyway. Sometimes you just got to act like your balls are bigger than Chuck Norris
  12. Right guys. We had a nice, warm and sunny day here in Germany so I thought I'd put it to good use and destroy the perfect and glossy paint finish I had achieved on my CAP lid the other week, as it's going to be my sandtrooper bucket. And I really went to town with it, I'm not the guy for subtle weathering, I want it rough and dirty So here it is, the way I know me I'll keep putting things on and taking things off for another week, so it's done yet, but close to it, changes will be subtle. earlier pic, I've taken off a little on the forehead after taking that pic for those who would like to know, this is the finish I had to destroy... So what do you guys reckon? I'm quite happy for now, except for some minor things I'll have to tweak
  13. Hey guys. I'm currently waiting for a new lid from my bro CAP, he's doing a run of helmets in high gloss HIPS. I just got a pic of the first "prototype" helmet he just finished, and I love it!!! Can't wait to get mine now Here's a pic for you to drool at: Now that's a real beauty!
  14. A first update: The latex takes a lot longer to cure in those new moulds. I guess it's because of the difference in mould materials, I need to leave it for another day or two, we'll see. Hope it's worth the wait! Fingers crossed...
  15. Thanks for the praise I'm really glad you like them - I made new moulds today and just poured a first test set in the white latex to see if they're better than the old moulds. I'll let you guys know tomorrow once the handguards are fully cured (it takes 24+ hours before you can take them out of the mould again... great for practicing you patience! )
  16. How did you miss that? Nah, I was only doing a run on the FISD a few weeks back, will do the next here, if people are interested... of course that doesn't mean my clean and shiny friends from over there won't be able to order as well! Yep, very soon
  17. could be argued, but we won't here, not again. Wasn't Gino banned from all the detachments a little while back? For insulting language and "trolling"? Not that I mind him being here, it's just weird that people forget that bit about Gino very easily
  18. I've got a few more bits and bobs flying around already. I might even give the radio faceplate a go and build my own one from scratch I'm not in a rush, so it might take a while, but I'll make sure to post progress pics here!
  19. I want to cast them in white latex/rubber so they're more suitable for trooping. The painted ones look great and are definitely more accurate, but the forearm rubs against the back edges and the paint doesn't hold up too well to that. While that would be accurate as well, I can see people not being too happy about it I will do both versions soon though, white cast and the standard ones painted white
  20. That's a painted set - They look fantastic with the weathering! Glad you like them bro
  21. I'm a member of said forum and got to read that thread as well. I also tried to be the voice of reason, asking BOTH sides to stay away from the insults and trolling that was overpresent. It's an neverending argument though, and I guess it will always be heated. I've said so before, and I will do so again: No insult fest will change the views of either side, so why don't just agree to disagree and move on
  22. Okay guys, although I'm not reinventing the wheel here, I thought I'd share my backpack build progress with you here. I just really started the whole TD thing, so there's not much to see yet, I did some work on the syphon though. First, I bought a syphon on eBay UK, which I knew wasn't quite accurate, as the main body is sort of square-ish. So when it arrived I had to figure out how to improve it a bit... First, I cut off the topper of the main body, then I heated the devil out of it and pushed a CD-R spindle through the remaining body, forcing it to take a round shape. I was convinced I'm going to trash the syphon at that point, but to my surprise it worked quite well! I left the spindle cover in it, hot glued it in place, then added a new topper I made from an acrylic sphere cut down to fit the diameter. I also cut off the extra details, followed by some filling and sanding, and that's where I'm at now: It still needs a little more work here and there, but it'll soon be good to go. My first backpack part! Woo
