  1. Congrats Nathan! Mother and daughter are simply beautiful - you are a blessed man
  2. Remember though that the intent of the CRL is not to be a requirements list, but is intended to be a visual guide for the costume and just one tool the GML uses when judging a member. Alas, the only costume to have a written CRL is the sandtrooper and that was done years ago and I'm not sure anyone really knows about it. Otherwise, there are no written standards, and the GML is pretty free to use their own judgement. Sound strange? Yes, it is but such is the current state of the Legion. Also, to be fair many costumes have quietly been upping the bar at least since I've been in, so this issue is not specific to TK/TD, or even armored costumes at all. EDIT: for background I submitted my first CRL in 2006 and have either been a DL, DXO, or on the LC since (and at times, two of 3) so have seen it through it's process since the inception and how it's metamorphasized since.

It never has been an issue in the past. One of the fun parts about being a sandy is that between weathering, pouch placement, pack tweaks, etc. you can really personalize your gear within due bounds, and thus every TD will look different. While it's great to have screen accurate references, I hope we don't get so anal that people have to replicate dirt patterns to be accepted.
  4. http://501st.com/crl/TD_CRL/TD002_Sandtrooper/index002.php FTW! Well done Noel!
  5. The other is that I'd not call it a squad. Squads are very specifically defined in the charter and it would cause a lot of confusion. Why not a riff on our title already? When you are deployed you are an MEPD Police Officer - which is sad that everyone uses the more boring "deployed". Ideally the "elite" will tie in to that. FISD will also create an "elite" above EI next year (if I'm still DL). I also will call it something cool, like Ranger, Centurion, Commando, etc. So you can either go that route, or again just try to figure out what's higher than a "Police Officer" (alas, SWAT doesn't sound as cool...)
  6. You are correct : TKBoots = ShoulderPauldrons. I'll also agree that Mark Chengs are certainly the pinnacle of boots (and yes, TM may say they are not accurate as the real ones were painted, but for *trooping* rather than prop replication...). I'll also agree that for the price you can't be trooperpauldrons. Yeah, not perfectly accurate but as you note they also aren't high priced. Remember paying $100 for SB pauldrons, and even Rolf's were not that cheap either. In the end it's great to have suppliers at both ends of the spectrum, and shoulderpauldrons is still better than what we had 5 years ago...
  7. Geez, you kids are spoiled. Back in the day we only one had source of pauldrons and we made do. And, we had to make our packs from rubbermaid boxes and sewing kits. And cut the ab plate out in our FX kits ourselves! OK, move along, move along ;-)
  8. Congrats Juan - my first was a girl too and you'll enjoy being a Dad
  9. Hey Tony - from one former XO to another - this Corona is to you and your health!
  10. There was an idea from ages past of calling the group of TD's in a squad or garrison a "patrol". As noted squads are geographic in nature and not bound to a costume type. You can make a "patrol" as just a fun thing. We've been trying to agree on a name for a Seattle/Vancouver patrol for a long time. We already have matching boonie hats, so why not? Terry - perhaps we should resurrect this idea for Garrison Titan/[whatever the Vancouver squad of Badlands Garrison will be called when you form it]?
  11. ??? No pauldons on TK's in my garrison. Must be a local thing in yours if it's allowed, same with bafoonery. My question is, if it bothers you so much, why not be a stand and try to stop it? And yeah, I'm thankful for TE2 as a person even more than the armor. There will always be better plastic in the future, but there will only ever be one TE2.
  12. Wow, this takes it to a whole new level. Thanks for sharing Gino - this is outstanding! And yes, I'm drooling...
  13. Outstanding work Terry! You are truly a talented prop maker. You're going to be the best Dad ever

In some screen caps I swear I can see what looks like cellulite on the butt/thighs. Not sure this would really be much of an issue for normal trooping, but you should check with your GML for anything canon.
  15. Dunno. Looks kinda off. You know I should review this in person. ;-)
  16. Awesome! can you PM me contact info plz?

  18. This counts anyone, even if they've never posted or even signed on. It's probably time to prune them out. I did a prune on FISD for anyone who wasn't a 501st member, had 0 post count, and hadn't logged in over a year. We went from ~6200 members to 2600, e.g. lost 4000 members that way.
