  1. Even IF they were making a movie accurate version of the packs, I don't see how this could warrant a C&D from LFL. it HAD to be an armor related issue.
  2. If you are going to use the flame method plese use a candle. If a lighter gets too hot they explode. I've seen it happen at concerts.
  3. I just used $0.99 shoe polish worked rather well. Twice now people have asked me, "Where did you find actualy Black leather pouches" because they don't look painted. they look dyed. Cut open the container and sparingly brush it on.
  4. Actualy TD's were banned from this event just like 99% of all LFL events. If someone showed they weren't 501st
  5. nice weathering. looks like aged metal. GREAT JOB! got pis of it on you?
  6. I cruised the AZ501st site but found nothing with a pack on it. Does this mystery pack really exist? would love to see it.
  7. R2ro also has one of my favorites. he was one of the first to make a kick-butt Marmit style / movie style pack. I don't knwo why he even has a sandtrooper costume though because hes pretty much the best **** Jango Fett out there.
  8. I just love the Studio Creations pack. Neat angle, and great custom look. Funny thing is, never saw one in person. Who else has one?
  9. I just don't see how spacepacks could get hit by LFL for the packs themselves. They had to be making armor or something. Thier packs looked nothing like the Star Wars ones. Are you guys sure?
  10. This pic shows you the Bend in the side. The frame itself has the bend in it. The correct angle should be 8 to 10 degrees. this pack is an 8 degree angle.
  11. I think it is "not bad" too many colors for my taste and a little too clean. LOL Interesting Idea with the water canister thing.
  12. I tried the TK-409 way but it was just too darn uncomfortable. When i complete the MDK Pack, I'll post some pics of the new improved strap system.
  13. The OFFICIAL thread for this project is now: http://www.sandtrooper.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=372 AS you all know by now that Jan of 2005 has come and gone. The new goal date is July 1st week. This thread is old. We have worked alot on this and I have pretty much taken it over by myself. TD8043 is just too darn busy. The new link is: http://www.sci-fire.com/MDKpack.htm Here is the latest design we shall be incoperating into the kit... (in addition to the other 2 designs.) TD1381
  14. I have heard and tend to believe that those different hands are made of gaffers tape because some hand plates came up missing and/or torn. They are not hard plastic or rubber. So I've heard. I'd stick to regular Stormtrooper hand plates.
  15. There it is, my favorite armor. Braks i've told you once and I'll tell you again...... FANTASTIC!
  16. Most people hate the fact that i love the SE stuff. I felt the same as Lucas. It added the stuff that always seemed to be missing. Of course I only care about beeing highly recognizable and not 100% screen accurate. I do dislike how people got so stuck on the fact that the regular edition is canon that they argue the SE not being. As braks said with a frown, I guess the SE has to be cannon. If for some reason Lucas flipped out and created a movie that featured sandtroopers only and added all of the SE stuff, I fear the movie would be highly scrutinized because it wasn't the same as ANH the original edition. I laugh at all of the fights on the RPF about this sort of thing. These are all things that will never be answered. I agree with Braks list. to be a true Sandie you should abide by those. But I also think there should be a little creativity and allowance on special items like Binders and Binocs. Those are BOTH things kids LOVE to play with for photo shoots.
  17. To date Braks has one of my favorite packs. (and his Gino suit is AWESOME) There has been some arguments about if this is the Davin Design or Terrick. Kotobukia makes a version of this design: Although Marmit and Kotobukia have some great packs, they are only "close" to movie accurate. Of course there is no perfect photo of the movie packs, there are enough photos out there to show enough to make on semi-movie accurate. I'd have to say the Marmits (there are 2) are the closest. As a matter of fact the Captain Marmit is the closest I've seen. And this will be one of the designs for my MDK pack coming soon. here is the drawing of it...... Since the movie packs were poorly constructed (some duct taped together) we decided to follow the old proverb "Just because they made crap in the movie doesn't mean we should make crap" but to make a nice sturdy pack with many interchangable parts.
  18. I love seeing people create bucks and vacuuforming. Thats where I started. LOL
  19. My second pack is a built up version of my first one. Mostly the same parts different scheme and slightly different paint job. http://us.f3.yahoofs.com/users/41c52a40 ... CBn3FjtYyk
  20. On the MDK pack, I am considering putting a sunken area for the back plate. Or just letting the buyer cut a hole wherever he/she want's. Since the hole would not be accurate to the Marmit or Kotobukia, I don't want people complaining about the hole. So maybe letting others cut it will be the right way to go.
  21. Do you still have those pics? would love to see them. As I posted in the other binocular thread I used the Sub Assult game. http://us.f3.yahoofs.com/users/41c52a40 ... 22. Sure wish those photo links still worked. would love to see them. i used the Sub Assult game. But i've seen people just buy some cheapo kids toy ones and add greeblies.
  23. Assuming the marmit Sandtrooper is 6; tall to the top of his bucket, the tube is 35.54" tall from tip to tip. I evened off mine to 35" even. We have the entire Marmit pack on AutoCad and each seperate part measured to the millimeter. Pretty cool. And fun to do. Had to do it for the MDK Pack project.
  24. I used peiced of PVC between the packs with long screws in the middle of each, bolted through the upper and lower boxes. then put Ribbed tubing (sump-pump hose) around the PVC. That was a pretty good pack there. More fun with custom "thrift store packs".
  25. Just heard the other day that a possible 2nd run of Spacepacks might be comming our. If I hear anything I'll post it here first.
