  1. This is very interesting... I have been in Scouting since 1986, and at least to the stores ive been, they never carry one single kind of pack or even one single brand. So, even if they got the frame fro. A boy scouts shop in London, you could easily find any camping brand there. Also, people just tend to say "boy scout" to mean pretty much any camping or amateur oitdoors activity, specialy a few years ago... So, the posibilities are just infinite I guess. Saludos.
  2. Those are the same pouches I used to make mine. Needs some modying and some dying, but they seem fine to me. I wish I could get a set of original WWII era, but, thats just me dreaming. Saludos.
  3. This is the syphon infound on a toilet on the streets of London... Its not as vintage as the originals, but should be a close match. Saludos.
  4. Nice, where did you find those? Saludos...
  5. Wow. You guys are making great detective work here. Few ideas and comments: About the weir pattern in the side of the tool box, we used to think that somehow that tool box was comfigured in that or other pack, with a syphon there. The painted all black, then had the syphon detached. Just speculating but looks pausible. About the hole on the top of the mortar tube, e thought it was done to set a radar dish there, but then attached upside down ans therefore a new hole had to be made to attach the radar dish properly. I have that in my pack since 3 or 4 years ago. Trapezoid toolbox sounds about right. Keep it up guys. Saludos.
  6. Oh well. Make it One real-real life radio. That one is the same as the one with Rocko water mark on it. I just forgot. Saludos.
  7. If anyone has access to any real sonix, I would cheap in to have it scanned and maybe have the files available or something or even produce something out of it. Just saying. Saludos.
  8. Afaik, now there are two radios that were found. One is the one one the only "real-real life" pictures of the radio I have ever seen. Pictures have a water mark from Rocko, former member here. The other one is this one. Weird that yes, nothing has ever come out of those findings. The only other radio that I know of not in movies or tv shows is "Bob's radio". But we know the story of that already. If anyone was to reach BigRead and document it and make all or any kind of research on it would be awesome. Maybe even 3D scan it and print a faceplate. That would be awesome. Saludos.
  9. For the pauldron, look fir Trooper1 here on the boards. He has a thread with his runs. For the pouches either look online for real pouches, or some replicas, or here on the board contact Blaster 8266, he can sort you out. Saludos.
  10. Hey bro... No worries. For the best pauldron in the world, contact Trooper1 here on the boards. For the under suit, I use a two piece Nike Combat combo. Also have a underarmor all black combo. There are other brands for different proce range. There are eve. A few options provided by 501st members with some logos and all. As for the neckseal, i think one of the best more accuarte ones are made by veedox,. It is the hero anh version. You cam contact him over the fisd. Hope that helps. Saludos.
  11. Well, most of us use BFGs... So, no need of holsters. The benefits of the PO and SWAT programs are, besides the bragging rights, are to go further into the hobby and character. For most of us here, researching and building is as important as trooping. Sometimes more. Sandtroopers of the MEPD are proud of being very welcoming community, but also take a lot of pride in our researchs and builds, standing, as a community, as a high bench mark for the costuming world. Not just the 501st. So, its just in the MEPD dna to strive for more accuratw costumes. Our founding members were the firts ones in the 501st to actualy declare that the bare minumin was not enough. Even if that minimun was consider as professional level back in those days. So... If you Just hang around for some time, you will see how the accuracy bug bites you. Enjoy bro, and get and build the armor that makes you happy. That is what this is all about. Saludos. Juan
  12. Thing is, do you want to go 501st level, Police officer or uber accurate swat? For 501st entry level, you dont need a pack. So you can wear the shoulder pouch attached to your shoukder strap or shoulder bell, or however it works for you. If you want to go PO, you would need a pack, cause it is requiered by the CRL and we think a sandtrooper, in order to represent what a sndtrooper should be, needs a pack. Pouch is wore on the shoulder, attached to the pack shoulder strap most of the times, as that was the way they did in 76 and makes it actually a lot easier, but you cam use any method you want. Now, if you want to go SWAT or uber accurate, the pack depends on the trooper you want to emulate. And the pouch needs to be attached to the pack strap, that way, no pack means no pouch. And... About the holster, no sandtrooper has ever been seen wearing one. It is not allowed for canon or CRL levels... You could use it in non canon events, but then, why go sandtrooper to use a holster? Saludos.
  13. Looking real la great bro. I am really excited about all the accurate builds happening now. It's been some time since I was so excited about new parts and gear discoveries. You guys are doing a great thing with your accurate packs. It is inspiring to say the less!!! Congrats. Keep up the good work and keep us posted. Saludos.
  14. Man. Your radio looks amazing. If I remember correctly, a few years ago I was inspired by Sir Dave to upgrade my own radio. At that time just a few of us used the vinyl cover on the radio. And not everyboday had all the greeblies and intakes and stuff on it. For us it felt like making prop forgery history... But now, about 4 years later, a few of you guys have taken it to the next step. What we did as innovation is now the standard, abd you are setting higher goals. I agree, you can only learn by experience... And building and reseacrhing and improving is that, lesrning by experience. Your radio and whole project is looking awesome. Together with the research by Ruggero and Nick and co., and some of the other recent builds, you are really adding the exciting element to our detachment once again. Thx for that... And congrats. I am in a place now where I will only settle for a real sonix radio for my new pack on the works... But if i ever decide to hukd a new one, this is for sure a place to look for inspiration. Thx bro. Saludos. Juan
  15. Lol. Yes Bob! So it was you that made friends with him. Hehe. Yes. The d ring looks like it could be to hook a strap. I've been looking at similar radios for the last hour or so, no luck finding clues or better references. But that one throws some light on the issue. We will find something soon. Saludos.
  16. Hey bro... Have you tried with a fine grit sandpaper? The gray ones. Havent try it myself but sounds like a good idea. I think. Saludos.
  17. Interesting. So, this is my radio. I found it in a flea market. Of course not the same but very similar make and components. And there is something interesting. There are two D rings, one on each side for what I can only imagine is clipping a long strap. Maybe that is what the sonix one has those rings. And as you can see, it also has a plug in jack for earphones. Similar to the one on the north star radio. Finally, there is some guy on the net who actually owns a real sonix victory 75. I have tried to contact him as many of us, but he won't answer back. I remember someone saying that he replied to him. So, maybe that someone can ask that guy for some references and info on the radio. I am sure that web guy, being a radio enthusiast, will now what the plugs and D ring are for. Saludos.
  18. Nice!!! I got the BB-8 and the millennium falcon drone. The sandy and dew back from funko and a 6" kylo ren! They are all in the states but my mother in law will bring them to me next week. I never thought I would be so excited to receive my mother in law! Lol. Saludos.
  19. Ok bro. No pressure. Just give it a try and work for your BFG. We will see how it goes. Saludos.
