  1. It's not supposed to be symetrical, but you can have it centered if you want. I like to have 3 blocks to the inside of the thigh and 2 to the outside with the thigh joining strip lining up between bocks 2 + 3, just as it looks in the photo you posted.
  2. You can see some comparisons on their facebook pages. Their thighs look different to the originals in some areas and the shoulder bells look a lot smaller. Lots of small areas are different all over the suit compared to the original it was cast from. That is correct. If the parts were somewhat flattened over the years then some effort should have been employed to correct the shapes whilst they were cast so the forms were true to their original shapes rather than the flattened pieces that are offered.
  3. Not many people are aware of the big differences between replica and original armour. I can agree to a point with Carsten that people get accustomed to how something should look based on the replicas that are popular. But when you put a replica piece against an original the difference is huge. Just take a look at the SDS vs LFL comparisons to see what I mean.
  4. There is not supposed to be black showing. Why do you think there should be? This is not real ANH armour, only a replica. The shape of the butt is the same on both ANH and ROTJ except ROTJ is conected to the kidney plate. Both TE ROTJ and RS ANH have badly shaped butt plates due to the fact that neither of the original pieces were supported while they were cast. I believe Rolf had to heat his up to tuck it in, didn't you? What you have been used to seeing over the years like TE, AP, ATA are all bad interpretations of ANH armour and most of you guys haven't got a clue what original ANH is like. Not trying to belittle anyone here, just saying what you think is accurate is far from it, even the RS suit.
  5. Which pics have you been looking at to think #14 is too dark?
  6. It's #15 Midnight Blue that is too dark. #14 French Blue is better.
  7. Thanks Rick! Those original boots were part of a suit that was auctioned earlier this year and the black ones are mine
  8. These are original ANH boots. If you find anything that look close to these...buy them! This is what they look like without paint.
  9. These will be just fine painted white. The stitching under the elastic gusset is perfect.
  10. 7 x 8mm bifurcated brass rivets 5 x 6mm single cap rivets Those are what you can use to give the impression of screen strapping. Of course you can go one better and put the micro screws in the torso edges but I wouldn't recommend that on your 2mm acrylic capped ABS.
  11. I guess it all depends on what kind of build you are going for. A screen accurate build will require a different amount of hardware compared to a standard 'trooping friendly' build. I can tell you the original hardware and give you an idea of the standard set up, but if you go for the latter then it can differ since everyone likes to do their own thing.

  13. It is recast TM armour.
  14. Just use the brass bolts to hold the lens in place. No need for glue. Use the top bolt and make a hole in the middle of each end of the lens and make sure you use a whasher and nut to avoid the lens ripping off.
  15. Here are some photos where I tried to show where I thought it shown paint coming off the original armour. This one shows the ANH forearm next to an SDS and I still think this looks painted.
  16. Don't let me stop you trying to get the evidence Rolf. I am only giving my opinion and in no way trying to shoot you down. I strongly believed it was painted for a long time, and some photos of the armour in the archives does look as if it is painted and it very well may be. But that doesn't mean they were all painted for the use in ANH and it is going to be hard to prove they were. Keep trying my friend. You never know
  17. Great topic Rolf! This is something I tried to prove a few years back but there was never enough evidence to support my theory of the ANH suits being painted. Since then, I have changed my mind abut them being painted and now believe all the original ANH armour was unpainted white ABS. This is mainly because I have found glossy ABS in 1.5mm that looks to be an identicle match to the screen used armour and there is no reason to paint it. We know the stunt helmets were painted, that is a given, and we also know the hero helmets were not painted. So, if the hero helmets were not painted and match the armour, it stands to reason the armour was unpainted too. Moving onto Simons suit, he told me he spray painted it years ago but is was already painted which accounts for the two coats. But, just because it was painted before he got it doesn't automatically mean it was painted for the use on screen. Chances are the suit had been used for promotional purposes or TV appearances just as many props do after being used in the movies. It is also a mis-match of several sets of armour so it is likely it was never used on screen in the way is is today and probably cobbled together from whatever was left over from filming. Some of your evidence you have put forward is not totally correct. You say Simons suit was reused as a Stormtrooper in the Tantive raid but that is not true. Only his belt can be identified and the same belt is worn by a hero trooper in the Tantive raid (seen marching behind Vader when he enters Tantive IV). The armour you say is a Sandtrooper in the archives with a 4 button plate is actually a regular Stormtrooper that has lost his centre button plate. The shoulder straps are a bit of a giveaway Chances are some of the armour was painted after ANH. They may have painted the ESB armour ready for filming? They may have painted several suits for promotional use? What I do know is that Simons ANH suit was painted. The recent ESB MKII suit that was auctioned had some ANH parts mixed in with were painted and John's ESB MKII suit has some ANH parts mixed it with that are also painted. That said, it doesn't prove they were painted for use on screen and no one really knows the history of the original suits before an owner comes into posession of one. I would like to be able to offer you some better proof of them either being painted or not being painted, but the truth is I really don't know and until a new set of ANH armour comes along that isn't painted, then we are all just guessing.
  18. Just glue it directly to your shin armour with E6000. No need to complicate things with any fancy stuff.
  19. They would only be considered screen accurate if you have ROTJ style trooper armour as per these Special Edition troopers. I would not go putting drop boxes (or anything else you see in this photo) on your ANH armour. Just my 2p
  20. Not really, but I do make 3" longer shins. My thighs are 16 1/2" long and most, if not all of my parts are bigger than what you are wearing. I have had guys at 6'2" wear TM and look perfect.
  21. 6'4" is very tall for a trooper. FX or AM torso parts may be your answer?
  22. What's the probelm Mike? Are your armour parts too short?
  23. The ammo belt should at least touch the centre box on your ab plate, so you want to completely cover the highlighted box and more. Check out this photo. Even though it is a Stormtrooper you should get an idea of the where the belt should be.
