  1. Vader was the first costume I ever tried to replicate. 'Move Along' sandtrooper was the second. So it was EXTREMELY satisfying to finally have one put together that I was happy with after all this time. The morning of the first day of Celebration, I woke up at 4am and weathered the entire suit. And since I had forgotten the paper towels in storage, I had to use hotel room tissues! True story. I want to give a shout of thanks for all the people who helped with one part or another. Strider for his awesome seed trays and karrimore frame, RS for their found item mushroom caps, karrimore pack straps, and fantastic Tunisia E-11 build, and Blaster for his MP40 hip pouch replica. Also thanks for all the support from all the guys here who put up with me while trying to bang this out, Woody, RS, Strider, Rolf looking at you guys. I hope you guys like it as much as I do. Just to show how long I'm been messing with this prop, here's a comp showing the various versions I've made over the years. Back in the 90's the only reference available was a couple promo stills and pausing the VCR! At the time those old packs were made, I hadn't seen anyone else attempt an 'accurate' version of a backpack. Only random tupperware fixed together. .

  6. Depends on the event. And what troopers are there. If there is my favorite Jawa, I'll usually drag around with her like keep an eye on her. She plays around like she is trying to steal everything or touch shiny things. I'll stand and give her a "put it back" motion, or "hands off" or the "scolding finger". If there are other TDs then it's serious. Or Ill play the foil to whoever is being the most serious. My character is usually fun. However - If there are kids and they are frightened or there is a child with special needs that is unsure or having a difficult time processing (I work with special needs kids, and I somehow have the ability to spot them) I go out of character and come down to their level and remove the helmet. Take time out of trooping. Show them the helmet. Let them put it on.

  7. I'm really liking this alternative version. It will be handy when trooping with rebel legion members and give a nice touch to the overall experience.

  8. Cant go wrong with RS. True screen lineage is hard to beat. I am not sure what mods you'll have to do other than make sure it fits you correctly. Just a heads up if you weren't aware yet. RS is very screen accurate...meaning it will have all the bumps, divots, imperfections, etc that the original armor had. Do not go into RS expecting a symmetrical sanitized suit. I have seen some people get very angry because they didn't realize what screen accuracy entails with TKs/TDs. Just wanted to put it out there if no one else told you. Are you getting the RS sandtrooper field pack? If so that may need some mods in order to pass level 2 and 3 at MEPD. Shouldn't be an issue for level 1 (considering packs aren't even required at level 1)

  13. your suit and builds has ways been a key inspiration for me, and i guess to us all out there. I remember when i first found you and art´s web site www.looksirdroids.com it blow me away, and even after all these years it still one of the major sites out there for good sandy knowledge. In fact it inspired me to create the mepd swat program back then. Your suit here are a true beauty, one of the best i have seen. Lots of good stuff all over it. And for the back pack you have the title as the best/most screen accurate back pack out there for now. But i will do my best to come after you ha ha... Thanks for the pics and inspiration bro
