Olympus
Hello fellow mepd I have a slight problem I'm currently working on my chest to shoulderbell pieces strapping wise. However when I connect my Shoulder bells to the middle of the shoulder straps from the chest they bow out and will not lay flat any pointers would greatly be appreciated! LoveMonkey
If you can, a picture or 2 would be very helpful to better see what the exact issue is.
Olympus
Absolutely I'll take a few tonight once I get off work I see how everybodys straps lay flat and not sure if it lies with the chest and back piece part of the tension on the shoulderbell straps lolSent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk
Airborne Trooper
Like this? That's just the nature of the beast. If you reclocate the snap to the outter edge it won't be as bad but you can also use nylon on the shoulder bell strap instead or pull it up higher. I don't even bother because no one notices it. TKs have the same issue except they have the plastic bridges to cover them up.
LoveMonkey
Where exactly is the snap on the white elastic? I put mine exactly in the center and mine lays perfectly flat
Airborne Trooper
Mine is centered towards the inside. I built mine like instructed on FISD a while ago.
Olympus
Yes I used canvas under mine and it does like the pic above I'm just worried that it will interfere with deployment status when I'm readySent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk
Airborne Trooper
Well you can't use canvas anymore, you need 2" elastic
Olympus
I have the elastic over the canvas it's just support under itSent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk

trooper1
Do you use suspenders for your cod and lower back? If so a trick! Put the shoulder bell snaps on the straps for the cod and lower back. it will make the suit more wearable and comfortable. And will work perfectly. But! If you want to build for looks then put it all together like the movie suit, and if for long troops and years of service then suspenders. Years of trial and error figured this out. trooper1
If you need help send me a PM I can explain more. Have made over 10 suits for other troops this way. Works outstanding.
Airborne Trooper
There's guys in my garrison that use the suspender method as well. That's old school but works.
Olympus
Yeah not only do I have that problem but the shoulder bells pop off I guess cause my shoulders are so broad...Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk
Airborne Trooper
I use these to attach them https://www.amazon.com/Dritz-Sew-Snaps-Size-10/dp/B000A8BMDQ You can get it at JoAnn's Fabric and even Walmart.
Olympus
Question is how much stress can they handle before they pop apart?Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk
Airborne Trooper
I can pull my arm out my bicep and they still stay attached. I only do that when I need to dress myself with no assistance around though.

Olympus
Also I don't know if you guys noticed how my chest and backplate were sitting could there be any modifications to them to help the straps lay down a little flatter?Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk
Airborne Trooper
Yes sewn on like they used in the movie. You really need to get the chest and back attached to the kidney and ab piece so you can get fully adjust everything.
