Look great, Ricky! I'm in the middle of putting my armor together as well - this is a helpful reference. I've been making my snap plates out of excess flashing as well :duim:

Just out of curiosity, what size rivets are you using? I've got some on hand but I think they're only 4 or 5mm.

Hi Josh,

Thanks for your kind words

Which rivets do you mean?

Belt, Thigh Ammo Pack or Ab and Kidney?

Sorry, should've been more clear - Ab/kidney rivets are supposed to be 8 or 9mm, correct? Does it matter what size to use for belt/thigh ammo pack? It looks from your pics like the thigh ammo rivet is a bit smaller, but it could just be me.

The Ab/Kidney and belt are 8mm, the Thigh Ammo pack measures at 7mm. These were measured on my ruler for you and supplied to me by TrooperMaster, my measurement could be wrong but the rivets supplied WILL be accurate. I am sure Paul will advise you if you ask him.

I am following TM's build threads and if Darth himself knew as much as Paul the Death Star would still be up there!

Scribbler and Inconclaster are incredibly supportive, approachable and their knowledge of the TD is inexhaustible! Brothers indeed.

Looking forward to your progress updates Josh. .

015_zps0bb7d415.jpg012_zpsc33d4470.jpg011_zpsad4988eb.jpgMy weathering has begun, this is my very first effort at anything like this so your advise and knowledge will be greatly appreciated

The last photo is the first pass, nothing much to see on the pic but it dulled the armor and brought out some nice features.

The rest are the second pass, i am going for a layered effect hoping to achieve an organic oily effect.

Thank you for looking

Nice work. I am so nervous about my very first build (armor on it's way) because after seeing this and especially because you said that your "DIY skills have been compared to that of a Drunken Baboon." It's really make me thinking about how to describe my skills. I am both sides left-handed and so impatient when it comes to building things. You are doing a great job, this armor looks beautiful! Does not look like a first build at all! thumbs up for you

Thanks Cornell

I had all the trepidation you have, i met Paul (TrooperMaster) and he said "Have fun, that's what this is about".

I took his advise and i have enjoyed my build enormously.

Don't rush anything Cornell, take your time it's not a race :)

Research lots of build threads and then research some more!!!!

If i can be of any help to you please do not hesitate to ask brother :D

Scribbler has been incredibly supportive to me and his knowledge is immense, say hi to him he is a top dude :duim:

Have you got good scissors for your trimming? The Lexans and Straight Tamiyas worked really well for me :)

Which strapping system are you going for?

Looks great. And real..! I dont have any tools yet besides a dremel but i just looked up nice scissors at amazon. I need protective gloves as well.

Thanks Cornell,

Make sure you get quality scissors!!!!

Why do you need gloves?
