If you've ever wanted to wield a Force FX lightsaber at an affordable price suitable for play, then Hasbro's got the perfect thing for aspiring Jedi this year.

Arriving from a galaxy far, far away in summer 2011: the all-new Ultimate FX Lightsaber will provide one of the most authentic Jedi experiences ever for kids! The toy features a progressive light-up blade with vibrant LED lighting and authentic sounds, allowing kids to experience the Force in a whole new way. Available in Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader models with an approximate retail price of $34.99 each. Available in August.

According to Hasbro, the new Ultimate FX Lightsaber is designed as an authentic-looking toy, with a plastic handle and shorter blade that make it lighter and easier for kids to handle. Of course, Hasbro will continue to offer the metal handle Signature Series Force FX lightsabers for adult collectors in 2011 as well.

Kirby, these are quite short and the grip is smaller than standard size, and they are quite dim in terms of brightness. You'd get a much brighter saber if you built one from scratch using a Luxen rebel LED / soundboard from the Custom Saber shop.

I guess I didnt do the best job wording that, I allready scratch built my own, I was just thinking about replacing the electronics that I have in the one I built with these, so I wouldnt have much $$ tied up in it..I had looked into th more expensive stuff at one point, but I really think I prefer the plain hilt look (I think the plastic colored light) takes away from the illusion...
