Robbie
Ok I am in the middle of trimming my armor and my question is how do I know what is the flack I need to trim and what am I not suppose to trim? I have a good idea on what to trim and not to trim I just don't want to screw up and make a big mistake.
FIVE
Depends on what pieces you're trimming. The best thing to do is look at screen grabs, and then other people's builds on here and on the FISD. If you're wondering about a forearm, find the forearm pictures and angles in the movie... and so on and so on... For the most part there should be pretty clear trim lines. It's always good to trim on the "outside" edge of what you think you should be trimming... you can always trim more, it's harder to "trim" less. What builds are you looking at for reference? And can you post some pictures of the pieces in question?
Robbie
This is the piece I am working on trimming right now. Should I trim on line one or line two?
Smally
Line #2. There are only a few parts in the kits that require 'return edges' but these will be very small (return edges aren't must haves - they're just a bit more accurate). Try doing a search on here and also on the FISD for other build threads too I'll see if I can find you one that would help you....... Smally
Ok Robbie, I did a very quick search for you and found these two which may be of some help: http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=5045&st=0&p=64270&hl=armor%20trimming&fromsearch=1entry64270 http://www.flickr.com/photos/stukatrooper/sets/ Keep us updated with your build and give us a shout if you have any questions - no matter how daft you think they are Smally. iconoclasta_88
Also, in my own TE2 build I discuss and explain which return edges should be left and how long should they be. There is a lot of great input by TM and others. I based many of my measurements in Art's research and most of the suggestions for return edges came from TM. http://forum.mepd.net/index.php?showtopic=5844&st=0 It is not a tutorial, more like a building and learning on the way kind of thing, but I am sure it will be very handy. Saludos.
