tk7713gra30
Hi all, Apologies that I have also posted this in FISD. Can anyone give me a a make of paint for a colour match to HDPE thats available UK. I can mix an enamel or acrylic one and spray thorugh my airbrush, the only concern is that i want to use Halfords appliance white and it may bubble the paint I have added if I do this. My worse case is that i apply enamel white spray on top instead of Halfords but wondered if there was a good match that Halfords can be applied to. Also am I correct in that the white for a HDPE should be more egg shell than really glossy. Many thanks as always gra
supa troop
i may be wrong but id try and avoid using Halfords sprays they are a bugger to adhere to plastic unless the plastic is super clean, ive found their sprays to sometimes bubble even when every care has been taken. this is just my opinion others may find halfords stuff great, i try and use Tamiya when ever i have spray jobs

So I could go acrylic HDPE mix and tamiya white throuch my airbrush, or Acrylic and Enamel white top coat. Out of interest has anyone else sprayed a helmet using Tamiya or humbrol through the airbrush. All the best mate Gra
supa troop
if you plan on airbrushing then avoid Holfords paints an Acrylic based spray job will be much better and the finish will be superb as i said i could be wrong but this is what i would do ......look forward to seeing your progress
Pappy
Hey Graham! Here's Paul's words for the closest color to HDPE,and its available in UK if i'm not mistaken If you want to replicate the original HDPE color, the best paint I have found so far is Platikote Warm Grey. It's an almost perfect match the Beige-Grey PP I used for one of my helmets a few years back The real HDPE give a hard time for paint to stick,so the surface must be torched slightly before applying the white paint, maybe this caused the egg white effect? i don't know, but its cool stuff nonetheless

Its a rough lid that I got cheap but all being well I should be able to make some good of it. I didn't really know what it was or how good but I got it at a bargain price. This is a tester before my AP sandy. Best wishes and thanks all, I will look up that colour to hopefully get a reasonable match. Kindest regards Graham I see now that is Plasti-kote :-) my local store sells this, was up there today but didn't know :-) Anyway downloaded this from the website so now I have something to match to. WARM GREY SATIN - NEW 2128 Many thanks for the help as this is a great reference Also given this by paul on FISD GREY BEIGE SUPER SATIN 2118- PLASTI-KOTE Both look close
