Rolf
I know people say its number 47 used in ANH, on the packs. Are we 100% sure about that. I ask the lady in the shop about the time line, on the colours. And she say that, the 47 is one of the first one ever made by humbrol. In the start of the 60s, or something. So it might be the right one. There is only one colour, there also looks very close to me. Number 48. Here you see 47, and 48. What do you think/know troops. Cheers. dutchy
Hmmm..I don't know how they look when applied, because sometimes colours come out in a whole different way when used. But for the looks of it I will go for the right one..nr48? Cheerio..
TD4128
Bought both of these colours when I did my backpack, # 48 is slighly to dark in my opinion, So I would definetly go with #47 sea blue,
Rolf
Thanks mates. I got 6 of the 47 here. All ready for MH/SB new pack kit coming up. The 47 look a bit too light. But when its paint on. It looks darker and good. And when the weathering comes on. It all .
kenthork
I am soon going to make my new pack and I am about to buy the paint humbrol 47. Just a question, N°47 normal or in gloss?
Rolf
Wow old topic, coming alive. Yes the 47 is gloss. Cheers
Trooper Peter
I've got a tinlet of Humbrol 47 Gloss Sea Blue, its a wee too pale for my liking. I would have opted for Humbrol 48 - Mediterranean Blue, albeit darker but richer in color. Since I can't get Humbrol locally anymore, I've picked up an aerosol spray color that is a go-between Humbrol 47 and 48.
nice-biscuit
Might no be Humbrol at all. It makes sense they use Humbrol for the helmet detail but for the larger area of the backpack they could have used car spray paint in tin. I remember cars of that colour around then. I have been thinking about the same thing. I guess they did not hand brush all the pack parts, but gave it a quick spray paint job. I will spray paint my next pack too whit the brand BELTON, its a German spray paint we got here in Denmark. The make it all colour/tones, i guess only for the blue we got over 15 tones. I got a few of them here, and one of them looks like the right one .
kenthork
i also used car paint spray for my pack. the color seem good. it's Sheen color (satin, not glossy) i'm happy with it. but i think for the next pack i will use humbrol 47 for better effect, i don't sure to use the gloss, but the normal paint, i will buy the two to compare because i don't sure that the blue color on the pack on screen is glossy (behind the weathering). RoCKo
is there a number for the Motip rattle can? i think it looks great on your pack!
kenthork
thanks rocko i think too, but i will try another for the next pack, and i will paint with the better. maybe i will use the same motip paint but many troopers use humbrol 47, i think it is not for nothing, so i want to see what is the effect. reference is : motip autolack acryl 45160
RoCKo
thanks kenthork, i´ll give the paint a try too! nice find! i think there is a lot of variety of gloss and satin finishes on all the packs, maybe even due to the weathering effects used. hard to be sure by the little reference we got of the packs. unfortunatly we don´t have too many high-resolution picture to be sure. judging by the reference i got the blueish color of the packs looks at least less glossy than the bottle cups for example...
