If I were you I would go for the pvc pipe frame, lighter and cheaper, as I don't think you'll get cleared without it on the backpack? plus it comes in handy for attaching the backpack straps! good place for a tutorial is "the dirty trooper" our very own deployment officer, these a link to his site in his signiture! yeah I know what you mean about the mess, I took over the kitchen for a few weeks, paints sand brushes and everything else you can imagine all over the place! if you need any advise, or just need a second opinion, just give me a shout mate, and I will be only to glad to help!!
