Davin: Advise On Bucket:Chest and Pauldron Please.

Hi Brothers and Sisters,

Could i please get some advise on how dark i can go with the major features on Davins Desert Sargeant, Star/Flash, Under Right Eye, Bridge of Nose, the S above right Vocorder, Chest Plate, Pauldron and so on.

I have checked out black and white photos and also paused the Blu-Ray, the features look almost black to me?

Would i be doing the right thing by going this dark?

You most likely need a blend of colors and build layers and texture. I started with black and then did my browns. Add the layers and texture until you get the desired effect.

YouTube Pandatrooper weathering tutorial. Good stuff. I think he does his black second, it just depends on what you are looking for.

I think i have been misunderstood, I am talking about the main features on the bucket and the big patches of grunge on the chest and pauldron.

For the bucket i used a really dark brown

For the rest (Chest and Pauldron) a lower dark brown. I used Vallejo model colors. These colors are better to correct a defect as humbrol colors.

For my whole Trooper i just used 3 colors:-)

For the splash you can use Game Color 72.045 (Charred Brown)

For the main patterns use Model Color 70.871 Leather Brown (same color for the main patterns on the armor)

For the washing mix Game Color 72062 (Tierra Earth) with water

Personally I think it was one paint....I have used 2 paints...black and dark brown and these are mixed with each other.
