TD-4510
OK I need some technical help.. I currently have basic cable and internet. I want to cut the cable and increase my internet speed to max. I am using netflix and hulu through our wii. BUT here is where I get confused. I want to be able to watch face off through hulu on my TV, but its internet only....SO how do I get the internet on my TV. Or in other words can I port my PC wirelessly to my TV somehow? Or is there a web tv like set up that will let me port the internet into the TV? I tried watching hulu on the web browser of my wii and it doesnt work for some reason... I would also like to watch pinks all out through hulu on my TV but it ALSO is internet only. There is so much stuff available on hulu that is only available on your PC through the internet. Is there anyone on MEPD as cheap as me? I want to get as much cable on my TV without .....cable Its overpriced and most of it sucks, but I dont wanna miss the few shows I DO like. Can anyone help??? Desert Grunt
Let me start by saying hello and I'm glad to be here. Didn't see an introductions section. When I went back to school full time the first thing I did was cut cable. Tried using my Xbox but that gold membership is ridiculous. I pay around $45 a month for max speed Internet through U-Verse, and then I purchased a Roku streaming player from Best Buy for about $65. It is better than Apple TV, and I am able to stream the news, MLB season pass, Netfix, Hulu, and HbO Go through it. I pay around 80 a month for everything now and haven't noticed that I don't have cable anymore. The only channel you can't stream is CBS. But you can go to Radio Shack and get an over-the-air Hd antenna and get all the basic cable channels (wrap, wtts, whatever) for free in Hd. That way you don't miss any sports and still get local news. Runs about $70.
SNOWMAN
AppleTV bro! Supports Hulu Plus and Netflix along with iTunes and other stuff. It's a middle man between the net and your TV. It connects either wifi to your wireless network, or via ethernet. Whatever you want. Then it goes HDMI to your TV. Done.
TD-4510
Casey, How do you have HBO go without cable? I looked into this and you have to subscribe to some kind of TV cable provider and HBO to get HBO go. I was pretty excited until I saw that. I have ordered the ROKU LT and I cant wait to get it hooked up. Do you have Uverse TV and internet with a subscription to HBO? Thats so silly to me to have to have a subscription to cable and HBO to get HBO go. Whats the use? Looks like the Roku will have alot of other stuff but I was looking forward to Game of Thrones! a few minutes later: I just went to AT &T's Uverse site and for some reason its saying that I cannot get Uverse in my area... ****... How do I get HBO without cable?
Desert Grunt
I use a family members HBO account that they don't use. I found I was keeping Uverse just for Game of Thrones. Cheaper to work a deal with someone on the side. I didn't need any other channels. Roku is awesome though, I use Uverse Internet at the highest bandwidth combined with Netflix, Hulu plus and Crackle. Don't even miss regular TV
TD-4510
I just installed my Roku last night and so far I am really impressed! :0 Now I just have to get a buddy (hint hint) to let me use their unused HBO Go account!
