  1. yeah, on my second TE, I'm doing strapless. My one question though is_maybe Braks can answer this_how are the shoulder bells attached?! Now, I could just use the industrial snaps but you would see the snaps to some extent, and the shoulder bell that's behind the ammo pouch is waaaay out there... almost falling off. I'm thinking attach the right one like you would a FX kit to the strap connecting the chest and back, while the left shoulder bell is attached to the back-pack shoulder strap.
  2. I don't think you can. Even if you did cut through it, it would eventually tear right off anyway. I haven't solved this problem yet.
  3. Congratulations! They're really screen accurate, too!
  4. i just cleaned up my TD boots after more than 18 months of filth accumulation... and after a good scrub, the shine naturally wore away and they look fantastic!
  5. interesting theory. I painted mine the wood grain, just for the sake of authenticity to the real weapon, but after reviewing screen caps, it does look black, or at least very dark. That one scene is also very dimly lit, so it could be just a lighting issue.
  6. Best of luck, Matt. I appreciate everything you've done for everyone as well as myself. I think what I'm working on at this moment will honestly make you very proud! I hope you find yourself... I'm 31, and have yet to find a career that suits me long-term, so I understand to some extent where you're at. And lastly, I think your book would be an awesome read. I seem to find out something new about this hobby everyday - both good and bad, but always interesting. Cheers, Mike Harrison TK/TD-1536
  7. I just purchased two sets of green welders masks, which are perfect for lenses. They're just dark enough and very heavy. They cost about $4.00 each and you can make roughly four or five sets of lenses from one mask. LINK If you can't get these shipped to the UK, let me know and I can cut you a pair easy enough.
  8. Thanks for sharing! Couple of questions if you don't mind. Are the details painted on or decals? Especially the vocorder. I know the way the acetate is applied for the lenses is correct to the films, but is that entirely practical for trooping, ie: does it move around or flex? How about the aerators? Are they Hovi Mix recasts or an all new design. Lastly, how is the durability and construction, solid? Not that I'm looking to buy one, I just find it more a curiosity than anything.
  9. yeah, these have been out for a while. I'm really curious to see one up close.
  10. Is there any way I can get the deployed Photoshop template? I'd like to update my pics, but I can do it myself to save someone the burden.
  11. Can't believe I missed this post... even though Seth and I have already spoken about it. It would be awesome to have some Sand Troops from Tyranus and Carida come down. I'm sure I can get our new Sandtrooper, Phil Moy to come out.

    Hello All!

yes, welcome to the most scrutinized and detail possessed detachment in the legion.
  13. yeah, the dark green welders mask is the way to go. Gives the right look, while being thick enough and sturdy enough to stay glued in place.
  14. wow... yeap, they've updated the web site alright.
  15. Unless Movie FX has stumbled upon a new previously unknown source, or is recasting, the 'well known' Movie FX helmet looks nothing like that. http://web.ukonline.co.uk/bingo275/Anson_GermanMovFX2.jpg http://web.ukonline.co.uk/bingo275/Anson_GermanMovFX.jpg
  16. I'll just say it's the most accurate stuff around. Period.
  17. And he frequently posts here if you need to get in touch with him.
  18. oh wow... I was at that museum the first week it opened, don't recall seeing that. Looks like another trip is in order!
  19. ****... after looking at your progress pics, that's got to be the best 'from-scratch' Lewis Blaster I've ever seen. Awesome!!!
  20. I think we've all had similar things happen around the holidays and it really puts a dark cloud over them for years to come. I was in a funk for almost ten years... but stay strong! You have friends!
  21. I think a lot of the resistance is because we've all seen people really gung-** at first, and then just drop off the map or never help themselves get things done. We all love to help prospective members, but this is mostly a hobby - then a club. If you can't be somewhat adept at the hobby, how can you really join the club? There are still plenty of resources on the net for finding things outside the 501st.
  22. Yeap, I attached an elastic strap via snaps on the front chest plate to keep it pulled down, since I'm tall... 6'1.
