No idea. Those templates are probably as old as the hills.

Nice work.
I've already made that graphic freely available in exacting detail... a bit busy at the moment, but it's in one of the Sonix radio threads. Let me know if you can't find it.

Clever idea!

I've seen conflicting information regarding the top of the frame. There are some screen grabs that show two vertical bars going a couple of inches above the top of the seed trays. Others show a rounded corner leading to the horizontal bar.
I'm pretty sure that none of the old, used ones on ebay are identical to the ones used in the Film. In the "Making of" book, one of the prop guys says specifically they used Boyscout back pack frames, but most likely a variant only made or sold in the UK. Over the last four years that I've been buying them off ebay, I've encountered at least three different designs. All of them had the foot, but all the cross-bars were different and none of them had that signature bend in the middle. I'm thinking they might have added that just to look cool with the seed trays. Who knows.

On my current pack, I was able to glue the seed trays directly to the frame with E6000.
BTW, I got one of those exact frames this weekend and went totally crazy hacking it up. I even went so far as to remove almost two inches of width from both the top and bottom bars to best fit the seed trays. Mind you, I'm working on a different backup, not Sandtrooper. Details to come.
Also, use wooden dowels, affix them with some hot glue and then use copious amounts of Gorilla Glue to secure the bond. It will expand in the frame and make the re-connections solid.

That's a nice start, but it needs a bar at the top and the middle, ideally at the bend. It also needs to be sized to a production seed tray, like what the Crashmann is making. I look forward to whatever you can provide. As for price, keep in mind that you can usually get the original boy scout frames on ebay for around $25. I just picked one up today, actually.

That will work. You will need a hack-saw to remove some parts and modify it, but that's best done when you have the seed trays to test fit in place.

I think it goes without saying I'm in for at least one, but I'd like two please.
Thank you for doing this!

Just my humble 2 cents, I think the MPED logo won't look as nice on a rounded coin.
The last coin had the MEPD shield on one side and you're right... it looked a bit odd.

LOVE IT!!! Excellent design. Just add some more text on the obverse side (MEPD) and it will rock!

It may be best for people to keep private info like that on their own computers. Utilize something like Google services/Docs, or Apple's Mobile Me (as examples) to sync contact info with multiple devices.

Nice gun!!
I take it you've seen pictures of reproduction M-16A1, Colt 603?

Please, don't stress it.
