  1. I have given up on finding new ears. I need a whole new helmet now, mine is splitting, cracking, and little bit crumbling out of it everywhere and I haven't even used it. Any suggestions on who i should contact to get a new one at a good price would be appreciated. I just hope the same thing isn't happening to my armor...I haven't pulled it out of storage in quite awhile.
  2. Now all I need is a new helmet because I don't know what happened to mine. Its splitting, cracking, and little bits falling out of it everywhere and I haven't even used it yet. Any suggestions as to where I can get a good price on a new one would be appreciated.
  3. I've been working on my own voice changer system for the past few weeks. So far all of my electronics have proved out and I've gotten all my housings run on the 3d printer. Its been designed with the idea that nearly all of its bits and bobs fit in the helmet itself minus the activation switch...yes it has a physical switch instead of a voice activated one but its the best that I could do with what was available to me. I'm still working out the kinks for the final install but if it all works out I'll let you know...and if your interested how to build one yourself.
  4. I'm in need of a new set of ears for my AM 3 piece helmet. In spite of multiple attempts to get a hold of the seller I haven't heard back. Is there someone that and help me with getting a new set of ears?
  5. I'll try to get a pic posted soon so you can see its looking like but looking at the diagram provided mine was actually molded with the butt plate and kidney plate exactly matching each other on the sides where they meet up

  8. my kit didn't have to notches removed from the bottom edge of the kidney plate. do I need to make that change and if so how big do they need to be?
  9. just a quick question. is the vocoder painted gloss black or semi-gloss black?
  10. just added a couple more pics of the helmet and pics of what I have printed so far of the pint sized Rex to the appropriate photobucket albums
  11. Yea its an AM. The dome isn't glued on yet so that would be why the brow is off. And your right the AM is quite a bit thicker than others i have seen. I'll tell you what it put up one heck of a fight to get it put together to that stage...lol. Now that i look at it yeah the front gap on the ears are insanely big. I'm very much considering getting a different helmet all together but want to get this one as close to good enough as I can and keep it as a spare. I also got one of the forearms done. Initially i trimmed too much off of it so had to glue some of it back on...thank goodness for razor knives. I was able to match pieces back up near seamlessly and once i apply a bit of gap filler and sand it down and repaint it you probably wont even know its there. i'll post a pic or two of that one after i clean it up a bit since the zap-a-gap got a way from me a bit...lol And i'll look into photo bucket
  12. all my new updates on my builds can be found here http://forum.mepd.net/index.php?showtopic=14537&st=0&p=183534
  13. Ok... here's my helmet so far. it isn't looking quite right but i can't quite put my finger on what it is. i can post a few pis from other angles if needed.
  14. The helmet for my TD is still giving me fits...nothing seems to want to go together right. The dome and back are finally mostly together but the face plate is being extremely argumentative. Having much better luck with the trimming of everything else though...so at least something is going well. As far as the pint sized Shadow Guard and Rex...still no progress on the Shadow Guard but the Rex is moving along nicely I have most of the parts for the arms done so just about ready to move to primary assembly on those.
  15. I haven't really gotten any farther on my TD than looking through all the bits and pieces that came in my big brown box and kind of test fitting them to get an idea on how much trimming I am going to need to do. I was also finding myself getting very frustrated that the helmet pieces didn't seem to be fitting very well together at all. But I think I may have figured out what it was I was doing wrong there...we'll find out this weekend when I have more time to work on it. I realize that the WIP's on the costumes for my nephews would be more properly placed in other forums but i'm going to do it here anyway. At this point I haven't dome much but make some modifications on the 3d models for the back and chest plates for the Shadow Guard...its not a very good match to TFU but its close enough for him. He isn't overly concerned about accuracy he just thinks it looks cool...lol...that's all that matters to him. The Rex how ever is moving along pretty well and it will be a pretty reasonable reproduction of the look from the Clone Wars cartoon. I have almost all of the pieces for the left arm printed and ready for primary assembly...I'll probably throw a pic or two up of that here in a few days. For the nephew that's getting the Rex accuracy does matter...lol...so maybe he'll make a good TD some day...lol
  16. The new thread on these builds TD and pint sized Rex and Shadow Guard builds (WsIP)
  17. i went with trooper gears AM kit if i were to start a new thread where would i start it at
  18. a big beautiful brown box arrived yesterday! so i will be starting work on it soon. I will be working on my TD in conjunction with a 3d printed captain rex for one nephew and a 3d printed shadow guard for another so i am going to be very busy the next few months. the objective is to have all three usable by the forth of july. i don't expect to have my TD mepd worthy by then but maybe it will be by the end of the year.

  21. I have been thinking about my last statement here. Speaking strictly for my own experiences and opinions so far with the other 501st forums I would would offer this advice to anyone in the same place with it i am. If you are truly serious about joining the 501st don't lock yourself into any one character group. Take the time to explore the forums for the character groups that interest you the most, join those forums, ask your questions, don't be afraid to check out those links that might direct you to other forums. Once again completely my opinion here, I would dare to say that the various forums tend to take on the personalities of the type you might expect for that type of character, so look for one that fits your personality better. Also my opinion, a better fit makes a better trooper. Now specifically in reference to my opinion on my experience here with the MEPD, based on this "advice". After many years behind a badge in the real world as a security officer, and i'm not talking about the weird guy standing at the door checking IDs (even though I did some of that too) I'm talking about a security force with real guns working in the private sector and along side a multitude of members of real police forces. The personality of this forum feels very much like it did when i worked in that kind of environment. And this should please you Dirty Boy . I have reached my decision, a decision that you played no small part in, and am going to start getting the goods together to go TD.
  22. Well as a new comer to pretty much everything 501st I can tell you that it would be helpful if all of the various forums had as good of lists for that kind of thing as FISD does. But I think that has less of an effect on prospective members choices of what direction they want to go, ie. TK, TD, TX, etc., as the quality and openness of the feed back, tips, and over all support they get from those that are active in the forums does. The MEPD is at this point the third of the 501st forums i have been involved in all fairness out of the three this is the most comfortable for me because of those things. I admit that at this point i'm not looking to go TD I am looking to go TK mostly because with my particular skill set I don't have what i need to do a proper TD and the last thing I want is to be a disgrace to the uniform, so to speak. But I can also honestly say that because of the great feed back and over all sense of welcome I have felt here compared to the other forums, not to say the reception has been bad from the others it's just hasn't been as good as what it has here, TD will most likely be my ultimate objective. Thanks again.
  23. I have been looking and reading and reading and looking all over the net about different armor kits that are out there and in all of that I have found info on one referred to as the AM (if memory serves correctly) kit and from what I have read about it it seems to be the best fit for me. I would appreciate what ever additional info anyone may have about it and who or where I could go to possibly get one of these kits and if some one could give me an idea of how much that set would cost that would be great too.
