  1. You're all set troops - welcome to the MEPD!
  2. ** APPROVED 31/03/2016 ** Chris, It is my honor to officially activate you as the SECOND SWAT Officer of 2016! I know we had some discussions over the weathering and the backpack, however you got straight on with the required mods without hesitation and am happy that I can now clear you! Your hard work and your attention to detail on your build has been carefully evaluated and inspected. You have met all the requirements to place you among the MEPD's Finest. Thank you for your patience throughout this process, but you can now take your place amongst the SWAT Troopers! Well done. Please submit a picture that you would like to use for your SWAT Profile to Luis (TD-5044 / "SANDMAN TIGUI") to help get you properly processed onto the SPECIAL WEAPONS and TACTICS Unit Members Page. Congratulations on successfully taking the next step as a proud member of the SANDTROOPER ELITE. Please gather your gear, charge your weapon and report to the 'Ready Room' to await further orders. Welcome aboard, SWAT OFFICER # 040... STRIDER - ON BEHALF OF THE MEPD SWAT PANEL

  4. The pouches worn on the belt in the movie were leather MP38/40 Stolla Wien pouches or reproductions thereof. For PO canvas pouches are acceptable for SWAT leather is required.
  5. No, that's cool. Let's keep it consolidated. Cheers
  6. Hi Chris! You have done a great job so far and I am very impressed that you have decided to completely re-do your backpack in strive for even more accuracy. Also congrats on your find with the syphon, we all know these things don’t just grow on trees. Same goes for the weapon; these original parts have become more and more expensive over the years but as Keats said ‘a thing of beauty is a joy forever’ ;-) But let’s continue your review… MEPD SWAT OFFICER: Application review part 3 Name: Chris Cooper Legion ID#: 89000 Forum Name: Cipher Garrison: UK Garrison ANH Sandtrooper selected: Road Block Move Along Captain /pre-break version Helmet Green Lenses: check Paint Color on Traps / Tears: check Paint Color and Number of Teeth: check Mic Tips: check Vocoder Color: check Tube Stripes: check Rank Bar: check Brow: check Side Screws (ears): check Weathering: check Specials (ears): check **Additional comments** Although this is one of the all-time favorite SWAT troopers it remains particularly challenging to emulate all the subtleties we can see on the high-res screenshots. However one thing is “sticking out” and that’s the length of your mortar tube compared to the backpack itself as well as the trooper. Please shorten it by about 4cm. If necessary for the overall proportions you might need to shorten the lower wet wipe bottle a bit, too. This should be an easy fix and I’m looking forward to welcoming you to the ranks soon! **RESULT ON BACKPACK** PENDING Weapon: E-11 Tunisia Blaster CHECKED & CLEARED Standing by for your completed mods
  7. Looks promising! Nice research, bro!
  8. Yup, you'll need to take them off and probably attach new ones if they don't fit with your belt.
  9. 1. Check out Terry's (Pandatroopers) tutorial. It's in the field pack/ pinned section. That's the approach most of us have used. 2. You can use 3mm MDF wood and just sand down the edges. Quick and cheap with great results. The only 'con' is that it's a little heavier than your regular project enclosure or tupperware box. For the exhaust port you can use a piece of wood cut it roughly into shape an use a rasp to round the edges. Cheers
  10. Okay, cool. Check out the SWAT approval section for cantina seargent applications (eg, Robster), that should give you some good pointers. Otherwise 'star wars screencaps' is always a good source.
  11. Off to a great start, bro. If you aim to go for SWAT I would advise to choose a trooper to emulate early on so that you can incorporate any idiosnycracies in your build. Eg, the Cantina Captina has only 6 teeth cut out of the frown, decals are different, etc. Don't be shy to ask any questions along your build! Cheers
  12. I've updated the original thread with the dimensions >>> http://forum.mepd.net/index.php?showtopic=14413#entry181491 But if you are using a smaller frame or seed trays you might need to adjust the dimensions of your exhaust port as well.
  13. All requests have been granted and the profiles updated - Welcome to the MEPD, Troops!
  14. Hey Eric, great to have you as LMO with us as well now. I think this will make it much easier for us to be aligned and communicate with the headquarters. Also congrats to you new role! Cheers
  15. Nice job, bro. Just a little suggestion though; you might want to shorten the bee stinger just a bit and insert a small pipe or a pencil to keep it straight. Cheers
  16. Very cool, Gino! Always love your attention to detail and accuracy in your builds. Cheers
  17. Here's another shot. Really wonder what this strange part may have been. Probably some scrap plastic that just lie around and got painted white ;-)
  18. @Airborne Trooper: Check out Pandatroopers Build Thread in the Pinned section. That's pretty much the approach I've used to fix the trays. @LoveMonkey: I didn't actually use that much sandpaper for my backpack. In fact, I think the only part that got some sanding was the canteen flask. Usually you would start with a low grit sandpaper and work your way up to the finer ones once the surface becomes smoother. To get started I would buy sandpapers with the grits 80, 150, 240, 600 (The lower the number, the larger the abrasive particles). For the other pieces it suffices if you use some kind of alcohol to clean the parts before priming.
  19. Hi Michael, looks great so far. I've just came across a new find (and some other old information) that casts some doubt on the "24" cm height. >>> http://forum.mepd.net/index.php?showtopic=13735&page=2#entry181753 Maybe you could take a picture of your 3D print and do an overlay (using photoshop or something similar) with a picture of a Sonix 75 to check the dimensions? Cheers
  20. I've recently acquired a vintage radio from the 70's which was also produced in Hong Kong. From the sides it looks spot on (like the Sonix) but the front obviously differs a lot. However, what is interesting are the dimensions; they are 21,8cmx19cm which are the exact dimensions that were take from the North Star radio (http://forum.mepd.net/index.php?showtopic=9335). Hence, I have now seriuos doubts that the measures from the original Sonix provided by Bigred (he stated the height was 24cm but never provided pictures) are correct. I have tried to get confirmation by contacting my "old friend" Bob but he has not gotten back to me yet. For the time being I will mark the height dimensions of the Sonix in the other thread (http://forum.mepd.net/index.php?showtopic=13958) with a big question mark. Hope we can get confirmation on this soon! Cheers
  21. Hi Felix, great looking rig you got there. From the first look I can tell that somebody has done his homework Could you please also add a picture of your back without the backpack and some pictures that show the strapping and the rivets? Cheers
  22. This is great. Love these inventive low budget builds
