  1. Yes that's exactly what i was thinking of doing. I heard spray paint is tricky,Is that all you did? Cause what i was thinking was just getting a glossy white spray-paint and then dirtying it up again.

I don't know what makes them different, but the paint I linked was one of the easier spray paints I've used. Just do thin, quick coats. Reapply while the first coat is still tacky (I think, you'd need to read the instructions). And it turned out beautiful. obviously, there's always a risk of spray paint globbing on a bit, but if you shake it enough and you clean the nozzle when not using it, it works pretty well. You can always sand down anything you don't like and coat again.

  2. Yup I've done more research and its not to difficult with the right tools. As for helmet there is AP or RT here in Canada and I have heard RT is a great match to the shade of white of the FX

If you mod the armor with bondo and whatnot, you'll be repainting it anyway. I primed mine and then used glossy white appliance paint. Like paint you'd use for a refrigerator. So you'll probably end up repainting whatever helmet you got as well. Just to make sure they match.

  3. I made a TD with an FX. I used a lot of bondo and paint to fix some things, but in the end, it looked pretty nice. I think if I had replaced the chest with a different vendor, it would have done wonders, but I ended up cutting the bottom edge a bit to shape it better and it looked pretty good.

The major changes I made were adding shims around the Ab and Kidney and filling in the ridges on the legs where the overlapped plastic connected. I filled those with bondo, and then added extra cover strips and it looked a TON better.

  4. I think most people would prefer having the TD on there. Earning the TD is a badge of honor. Even though it's a Sandy shirt, not having the whole designation on the shirt would feel off. If it were a generic Garrison or Legion shirt, I could see it without the 'TD' but for our shirts, I think we should have it.

  5. Honestly, I'd start on the abdomen. Get the crotch, abs, butt and kidney to fit as well as possible. Then the back and chest. After that, do your shoulders, biceps, and then forearms. Then finally, do the thighs and shins.

For me, that's the best way. Start from center (the abdomen) and then work your way out from there.

  6. Hey Troops, just found this on ebay. They have quite a few of them and pretty inexpensive. In case anyone needs a sling for his T-21 or is looking to upgrade: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-British-Enfield-Web-Khaki-Sling-WWII-Mustard-Color/231650677942?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D33097%26meid%3Df823faca5fb94db49b936a609be68b1c%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D300656670341 I'm not affiliated with the auction in any way, just trying to help my fellow troopers out :)

    Thanks!

  7. Hey no answer huh? What did you end up doing? I'm sorta in the same boat. Im thin but not rake like so need this sort of shim I guess to get police status.

Can someone here answer? My question too lol

I ended up adding shims to both sides, leaving the seam down the middle. When I get my armor out next, I'll post a pic of how it turned out. Definitely worth the effort.
