  1. it is an MR stand. i got it from "brianstoys" on ebay... $89.
  2. it's all naked! oh, so i tried the double sided tape thing on my hengstler, and it seems pretty solid. this is the stuff i used: http://www3.3m.com/catalog/us/en001/off ... utput_html "Scotch® Exterior Mounting Tape 4011, 1 in x 60 in" i cut it down to 1/2" and it's holding strong. it's rated for 5 pounds, so the hengstler should be no trouble at all
  3. i still haven't settled on a permanent mount for my hengstler. right now it's held on with hot glue it seems pretty solid though, so i may just peel the hotglue off and use something stronger. i read somewhere, i think RPF, about someone using a double sided foam tape from an auto parts store. it's used for attaching stuff to cars, is black, and is apparently quite strong. i may look for some of that stuff too.
  4. sweet looking trooper! i had started to go ESB at one point, but then i got re-deployed to tatooine ditto on the "lack of side gap" envy. i've gone from 4 inches on each side down to around 1.5 though, so i'm on my way! as for that last trooper, i think he's the "crap my straps broke and no-one noticed" trooper.

my birthday is february 06 (this past sunday in fact!). hence the 7602. i try to use tk7602 on every forum/site/whatever, so that i have a consistent identity. though it's somewhat misleading now that i've gone dirty and no longer have a tk in the roster.
  6. i'm just waiting for the boba fett rifles to get out there so that i can get one of their display cases to put mine in the trooper bucket isn't the worst thing i've seen. i think it will really click for people as an idealized version of the iconic helmet. so many people commented on how warped and deformed my GF helmet was... something like that could never sell to the mass market. at least the kept the bumpy eye.
  7. great photos. that's exactly what i did with mine, but i didn't take the pics along the way that i meant to.
  8. as i mentioned, i broke the first hengstler i got: i decided to try to make the best of it... i cleaned up the rest of the broken window, smoothed out the lip with some bondo, and painted it up. once dry i put in some thin, clear plastic as a replacement window. so now, rather than being a damaged hengstler, it's a slightly altered one when i get the new one i'll paint that up and replace this one. but for now, i hot glued it into place just to see what it would look like: it will be easy enough to pop it off later and Goop the new one on. now i just need my cylinders, wires, and the new counter.
  9. i've only taken my bucket off in public once, and that was when i started to overheat and would have fallen over before i made it out of sight. with my E-11, i ususally go for blaster held high across my chest, or low at my waist. almost always 2 handed, one on the handle, one under the barrel. left handed since i'm a lefty and i revel in any chance to do what is natural AND be screen accurate while i'm at it with my mg-15 2 handed is just implied. i carry it barrel down to the floor, but ready to snap up quickly for a photo. i don't really stand guard when in the TD... i stay moving, like i'm looking for something. if vader passes by i'll snap to attention. i tend to be the trooper that doesn't talk much. i ususally don't even bring / hook up my amp. really i tend to act an awful lot like boba but in a different outfit, which is something i've been working on.
  10. one of the reasons I detest gloss ABS plastic. Very difficult to weather nicely unless you paint it. i actually sanded the shine off of my AP armor. the whole thing was rubbed down with 400 grit paper in the process of weathering. i basically misted the whole thing with a translucent sand colored airbrush paint, sanded most of it off, and repeated until i liked it.
  11. here's a great example of how good the hyperfirms look... i got mine all finished up... is it ok to spray paint the rubber with regular rattlecan paints? i'd like to use the same satin black on it so that the 2 match
  12. i can only imagine. i wonder where someone digs up something like that?
  13. i bet someone on the RPF could tell what they are. interesting. very interesting
  14. this morning i brought it upstairs to cure. the basement is fairly cold, so i figured normal room temperature would be better than the 50ish degrees down there. once the stock was folded up it really started to look like an E-11!
  15. wow, the finish on mine looked NOTHING like that!!
  16. i need to break up my e-11 page into sections... http://stormtrooperguy.com/ultimateE11/ but if you scroll down to "On to the T-track!", you'll see the part about how i bent it. basically just heat it up a bit and bend
  17. i got the tracks for the barrel today and installed them and painted it (the lenses on the scope are masked, both with liquid latex and tape) the paint is satin finish. but it's really wet here, hence the shine.
  18. nope. i'm not really sure what these are going to look like, but they are free, so it would be hard to go too wrong i like the idea of building them out of those parts. that should look pretty cool.
  19. those look pretty neat. are they metal or resin?
  20. i picked up some rustoleum satin black paint for mine. i think it should look good, but we'll see
  21. a guy from RPF is sending me a spare set of custom ones that he had laying around. i'll be sure to post up pics when i get them. in other news, i got my t-track today!
  22. mmm, i really want one of those. someday i'll hold onto my money for long enough that i could actually afford one
  23. i started up a separate thread so as not to steal yours http://www.mepd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2302 the PVC pipe slice seems to work well as a way to fill in the ejection port. i'm happy with it at least
  24. i didn't want to totally hijack ward's thread with my own posts, so i figured i'd start my own thread. i've wanted one of these since i started to get into the prop collecting habit, but i didn't want to shell out *too* much cash on it. a while back a friend from the 501st NEG offered up a sterling for $350, and i jumped on it. the timing was right, as there was a 1942 M40 scope up on ebay at the time, and i got it. i got a hengstler from RPF and promptly broke it. while the lens over the number could (perhaps even should!) be painted black, i want mine exposed with the numbers set to my tkid. well, i broke the clear window right down the middle prying it off. in comes nathan/slave1pilot with a replacement. woot! once that comes i'll be back on track. i ordered some t-track from saberfreak on rpf. tonight i started putting it all together... my scope rail: cut down magazine: plug to fill in the missing bolt: scope mounted to rail, rail mounted to gun, and shortened clip in place: and a good view of my PVC / foil tape contraption to fill in the ejection port: the specifics of what i did is all here: http://www.stormtrooperguy.com/ultimateE11/ once i get the counter and t-track i'll be able to wrap it all up!! i decided to paint it when it's all together, rather than as components, since i'd probably trash the paint job while putting it all together
