  1. That's really cool! Not knowing anything about 3D printing...what is actually made from (material-wise)?
  2. I'm new here, but I just wanted to say that I can see why you are leading the Department. You've been EXTREMELY helpful in my pack build. I can tell you truly care about getting people up to speed and helping out your troops. Thanks for all your help and I look forward to being a part of MEPD.
  3. You don't need one for basic 501st Legion approval, but you will need one if you go for Police Officer or SWAT.
  4. Pack progress as of tonight. Need to paint and mount radio, attach seed trays, complete mortar tube and make/mount straps.
  5. I can't wait to hit the desert for a photo shoot. Gotta love California living. You can be in the desert/mountains/ocean within a few hours of each other.
  6. Here's a thought.....has anyone ever tried putting together their seed boxes PandaTrooper's seamless method, but using 550/paracord and drawstring toggles like: I was thinking about how I could get the player and speakers in a seed box and have relatively easy access to it. Not sure how secure it would be though. Maybe a hybrid of both? bottom part of the seed tray secured with zip ties and then the top portion with the cord and toggle so you could crack open the top of the box for access??
  7. That's a really cool radio set-up! I'm not that savvy at electronics. I'll probably keep it real simple and download the radio chatter to my old iPod and connect it to some small iPod speakers. I have some small hinges laying around. I may use those to make a "trap door" on the back of a seed tray and just stick it all in there. Keep coming with the ideas though. Great stuff!!
  8. Come on over....the water is fine. You just need to watch the idiot drivers on the Freeway.
  9. Fixed the canister and I redid the exhaust port. Will paint and mount it tomorrow. Cistern done and mounted.
  10. When putting the radio together, what do you recommend to use to put the frame and other components together. Is everything glued together or are there fasteners involved? I may be getting to the radio box this weekend (after re-do that exhaust port I screwed up )
  11. Yes... please post a pic and let us know who's components you used, (dirty boy, Trooperbay, custom??)
  12. So who out there has a MP3 player and some speakers installed in their packs? Where do you put them and how do you access them? I'm working a Dirty Boy kit and I'm not really sure where I would put one that I would be able to access it. I'm using the zip tie Pandtrooper seamless method to do the seedtrays, but the only makes the seed trays quasi accessible. I haven't gotten to the radio box yet, but I don't see how I could get in and out of that once it's done. Seems to me it would need to be sealed. Looking for ideas.
  13. Tix bought months ago! We're Disneyland Annual Passport holders too, so it will be a big Star Wars/Disney overload!!!!! Going to be great. Looking forward to meeting some other filthy troopers!
  14. After looking at the screenshots, it is too high. When looking at the graphics HERE , it appears the bottom of the mushroom cap is level with the top of the tool box. However, when you look at the screen shot HERE you can see that the canister is much lower. Oh well, live and learn. When in doubt....go with the screenshots!
  15. I'll work on that. Here's where I stand with the pack. Thanks for all your help!!
  16. So it looks like it I need to trim the bottom after all, right?
  17. Ok boys....let her rip! Alll the pics are HERE
  18. Definitely will take it in stages! I have my pauldron and a couple pouches ready to go. Will post up this weekend looking for commentary. Thanks for the help so far!!
  19. Forgot I had a pic of it all with the bucket on. This is pre-shimming and chest mod though. Should have it done this weekend and I'll be starting the pack too.
  20. Makes sense. I should be able to bring the chest up a couple of inches.
  21. So you're saying cut from the top at these points:
  22. What are some suggestions for the best way to do the cutting on the chest plate? Lexan scissors? Score and snap??? I'll be doing that in the next couple days and want to hear your ideas.
  23. I think I'd need to see a Walt kit in real life and see what parts would work and what wouldn't. That might work though. Anyone in SoCal with one?? Hit me up on PM so we don't derail this subject.
