There is no going back to clean.........
But the acrylic does come off, but it would be as more work to go back.....Just sayin.....
-
I used acrylic paint, same as my weathering on the armor. Sticks very well on canvas

Awesome! And I totally missed the photo op! I was in armor on Saturday from about 11:00 4:00 and trooped it alone dirty.
Oh well, next time I guess. It was great to meet you briefly Scribbler!

Is it just me, or are the newer submissions just getting better every time?
Great job man!
-
To each their own, but I am not a fan of fullers earth. But everyone has their own way and there is no "right or wrong" way to do it. Looking good so far, keep it up!!!!
-
Nice! You were at Wondercon? I wore my sandy from about 9:30am -12:00pm on Saturday. Would have loved to walk the floor with ya!!!
-
Nice and dirty, but it looks "smokey". Good job! Good luck with your submission

Actually, the two terms you really NEVER hear around here is "Back off" and "too much!"
But looking at the pictures you posted, definitely needs to be more dirty. But try to spread it around and not really smear it. There are some really good tuts here on weathering you should check out. Not sure what method you are using, but you are on the right track

Sorry, haven't looked at this thread for a bit.
Thanks for the kind words everyone! I only used 4 colors for my weathering and I started with the lightest tan first, moved it around with a wet rag to get the "I have been in the desert for some time" look first. Then started using the darker colors to add dirt and grime. I took a picture of the colors I used, I will look for that pic again and re-post.
Again, the Ab plate already has the little rivet molded on, no addition required. And I modded the left thigh myself, very easy.
I have been getting a lot of requests for a video tutorial on my weathering. trying to find the time to make these, and a good handful of other tutorials for a few other things in the near future, likely after Celebreation.

I plan on casting mine and try to pull it. With Celebration coming up, it has been difficult to balance stuff I wanna do with stuff I HAVE to do with all the orders we have doing X-Wing stuff. I will try to cast it this week and see how it pulls. Just picked up some plastic to pull chest boxes. I will post here the results....
-
I considered modeling this also. I have opted, one of theses day soon, to cast my current one.
One of these days.....
Your model looks great though dude!!!!

Dude, those power cylinders look awesome! Did you sand them at all before using the XTC?
And again, I HIGHLY suggest printing the knobs separately.
I also use 123D Design
-
I have a printer that prints both ABS and PLA. I HIGHLY recommend printing it in ABS. I would also recommend printing the knobs separately. It will require ALOT of clean up, but you can try that new stuff called XTC-3D. I have some but have not used it yet, but it is supposed to smooth parts out real nice
Your model looks awesome by the way, Great job man!!!!

Congrats bro, proud to be here
