  1. Hey man, your build is looking good so far. Here are a few things:

Pretty much everything Nick said. Your chest piece could be a little higher, and it will make you look a little taller. You are also missing the three buttons next to the ab part, but we will just assume you have not put it on yet.

I think your weathering looks great! I would add another color or two to even it out though. Probably go on the lighter side of color to add a little more "sandy" or "dusty" look to it, otherwise looks great.

The biceps do look a little big. Do you have much room in them? It also kinda looks like you left a lot of return edge on the bottom of your shoulder bells. trimming some of that down will get them closer to your biceps and not make them stick out quite as far. A lot of people use "whopper poppers" (I do) to attach them to the elastic strap. You could shorten the strap in the bells to bring them in closer to, as previously mentioned.

Great looking kit. Your almost there!!!

  2. Welcome to the sandbox Keith!!!

Aside from the tools The Trooper mentioned, I would start reading as much as you can!!!! There are tons of build threads for both armor and the pack. And weathering threads to :)

    Good luck and have fun!!!

  3. It is not so much that it is too dirty, just maybe needs a little more color. I used 4 different shades on mine to try to round it out. I was also going for the dirty sandy dusty look.

And your pauldron just looks like it needs to be re-adjusted is all. It kinda looks like it is falling off the front of you, otherwise the pauldron is fine.

You might also want to adjust your shoulder ammo pouch. It is also hanging. Did you put anything in them to firm them up?

I don't think any of this would get you denied P.O. approval, but I am not a judge. Your kit looks awesome and looks like it fits you well brother!

    Good Luck!!!!!

  4. Great looking kit man! Awesome job!

I would agree that there should be more "randomness" to the weathering, though it does look really good. I don't think it would hinder you getting P.O. status though, but I am not a judge.

I think your pauldron just needs to be twisted towards the back more. It is sitting funny. That is the only thing I really see that would be an issue.

    Great kit bro, good luck!!!!!

  5. AS far as I know, the FX armor is still cleared once you do the mods, and mods to go Sandy are more extensive obviously, but it can be done.

The pack dose not look too bad. Most packs are NOT metal frames and are usually PVC, mine is so that is no problem. There are a few things you could change on it to make it more accurate though.

However, instead of buying someone's older FX, depending on price of course, have you considered maybe just picking up a new kit and building it yourself from a new kit?

    Just a few thoughts :)

    Anyway, good luck!!!

  6. I just used CA glue, or Zap a Gap glue. If it is pulled in ABS, you can use ABS cement, but beware, ABS cement actually melts the two pieces together to fuse them, not just glue them. That makes the joining pretty permanent! And it does not take much either....

Curious though, why use fullers earth? Acrylic paints are the way to go in my opinion.

    Good luck!!!!

  7. Depending on which trooper you chose, ALOT!!!!!!

While I had originally wanted to go SWAT, after spending all that time building and weathering, and I tried to weather in the vein of the move along trooper, I would have to re-do most of it to make it look a lot closer. I rather like being my own TD with P.O. status and can totally live with that.

Like everything else in life, it is about personal choice :) But I am digging your weathering dude, keep going :)

  8. Took me about 6 weeks before I got started. I have since built a number of kits for people. I always start with the Ab, Butt, and kidney. Then work my way down, then to the chest and arms. Once you have the middle done, you can properly fit everything else, thighs most importantly.

Anyway, you are only on a schedule you set for yourself. It would be a great idea as previously to watch TrooperBay's build tutorial, I did, and would also be a good idea to reach out to your local garrison. Someone will help you and there are likely build parties happening somewhere.

Good luck and have fun! And take your time :)

  9. While I would say the weathering does look pretty good, I have to agree with your garrison mates, it is a bit dark and heavy. I would tone it down and add 1-3 lighter colors to it also to give it more of a dirty "sandy" and dusty feel to it. This would also round out the randomness of the weathering and not quite so one-dimensional. That would match the on screen a little, but for P.O. that does not matter too much.

With that being said, weathering is very subjective to the one who is doing it and there is no real right or wrong way, whatever looks good to YOU. But it would look better with a few lighter shades thrown in. :)

    Great job so far dude!!!!!

  10. Dude, first let me say awesome build! It looks like it fits you really good! But here are a few things I see:

Weathering looks pretty good, but need to be way dirtier and more shades of dirty. Just looks a little to clean.

Same with your pack. Looks like a great build man, but too clean!!! This is all about being dirty!!!!!!

Not sure if the rivet head in the ab is required, but is a nice addition to detail. Easy add...

And you might want to post a solo pic of your canvas belt, they will likely ask, but dirty up it up more before you do :)

Put something in your shoulder ammo pouch so it does not look empty

And your blaster is awesome!!! And way too clean!!!!! Dirty that thing up dude!!!!!

Again, great build dude, good luck!!!!!!
