  1. You misunderstand. I didn't say what I said to directly call you stupid. I don't know you. It was a broad generalization, not aimed directly at the CD purchase. Again, I DO NOT CARE if you share it or not. What I do care is when a "prop" person comes on a costuming forum and says "I know something you don't know." Even if it's done in a nice way it's very condescending. That being said, you're a heckuva lot nicer and easier to deal with than someone I named earlier. As for owning something rare, hoss you have no idea. This stormtrooper stuff is just secondary. I'm a comic collector first and foremost. Believe me, I have plenty of rare stuff. That's why your collector card analogy doesn't hold water with me. A copy is just that, a copy. It isn't an original. Reprints don't have anywhere near the value of the original. That's what grinds me so about folks with this stormtrooper stuff. The stuff passed off as "first generation" is nothing more than a recast of an original! Then they get mad if somebody copies what they copied illegally anyway? WTF?? It all boils down to a certain few elitists wanting to make money and make themselves feel superior. Not saying that you're one of those, but you sound an awful lot like a disciple of one (who I notice pops in to read this particular thread after every post you make...hmmm). I say this, let's you and me just agree to disagree. You ain't gonna change my mind and I ain't gonna change yours.
  2. That is very well said Braksbuddy! You're so much nicer than I am. I get my dander up and get rather confrontational. Basically what I see is this: "I was stupid enough to pay a whole lot of money to someone who didn't have the right to charge me money for what they didn't own in the first place. And because I shelled out the money, I need to hold the info back to make me feel better about getting ripped." Like I said, it's not going to change my world a whole heckuva lot since I'm done shelling money on my suit anyway. It just hacks me off for all the people on here who really want to try and improve their suits but can't. It's that whole overarching air of "I'm better than you are" that drives me nuts. We're talking about plastic costumes that none of us owns the rights to people! Sheesh!
  3. X-man there just hit the nail right on the head. You guys act like you own the rights to this stuff.
  4. Scootch, as always, great work!
  5. I'm really anxious to see these suits as well. Laws seems like a helluva nice guy and from what I've seen, does amazing work.
  6. I'm sad for you. You prop elitist guys get on here and act like we're all Iranian or North Korean dictators screaming for the secrets of intercontinental ballistic nuclear missiles that we would just turn around and blow the world up with. We're talking about pieces of plastic that were made in a pinch and put in a movie for a few minutes then thrown in a warehouse somewhere people! You can share all of your "super double top secret" information or you can shove it. I don't care. It's not going to make a difference in my life either way. I have my suit and am not going to spend another dime on it. I'm happy with what I have. It's just sad to see supposedly grown people get huffy over something so simple as how straps were placed on a piece of plastic that was used on screen for about 5 minutes total in a movie over 30 years ago b/c a few people want to improve their suit. We've got you in this thread saying that people who want to improve their costumes are like a bunch of 1st graders wanting to take your ice cream and GINO in another thread calling all us 501st folks sad people who do midnight Toys-R-Us openings or something to that effect (couldn't quote it exactly b/c the thread magically disappeared) and you've got the audacity to look down at us "lowly" costumers? Puh-leez! I've joined several prop sites to try and learn about that side of things...trying to keep an open mind and all. I don't get on there and spew vitriol about your hobby. Why do you guys think it's ok to come to a board like this and do it? Because you feel that somehow you're enlightening all us poor unwashed masses? I better hush before I get in trouble. These are (usually) friendly boards and I don't want to upset the apple cart too much.
  7. And while I may have been wrong about it being him this time, it still doesn't change my low opinion of him (which he happily reciprocates so it's all good! LOL).
  8. We spent the night in Kingman on the drive out here from Arkansas as I recall. Isn't it about an hour or so from the Hoover Dam? We stayed at a dive Travel Lodge but I didn't care. I just wanted a bed! LOL
  9. I, for one, appreciate it too Scootch. I've learned TONS from you here and other forums and am taking a break as we speak from assembling my pack using your tutorial found elsewhere. That's what it's about. Sharing.
  10. Gee. I wonder whose Name could possibly be in On this? At least I know who it sounds like. :glare:
  11. Man, that looks like it was a blast! I wanted to go very badly but I had to choose between a trip home to see my family (hadn't been back to Louisiana for 2 years) or this as the bank account wouldn't allow both. Home won out. Glad to see some pics though!
  12. That's smart. Having started out at a USP and gotten used to that environment, I was shocked when I went down to an FCI for my 8 (that was Forrest City). I wanted soooo badly to get back to a USP b/c hardly anything ever happened at the Medium where I was and everyone seemed to overreact when it did and were waaaaaaaaaay too complacent when things were quiet. The USP was great b/c no matter how many bodies hit the floor and how much blood and guts (literally) were on the walls, as an officer you'd just do your little memo and a shot or two and you were out the door. When I transferred to Lompoc, on USAjobs.gov it was still listed as USP Lompoc. I got here to find out that it was actually stepped down to a Medium FCI and a Low FCI complex. I was all kinds of butt-hurt about that. That lasted right up until I did my first incident packet. LOL! As a Lt., there's no way you could make me go back to a USP. There has been plenty enough work for me at the Medium (I'm THAT Lt. here. If it's going to happen, it'll happen on my shift). If I had to go back to being an officer, then the USP is for me. Now that Sands and I have confused the crap out of most of you with "Bureau-speak," we'll return this thread over to the rest of the participants who have somewhat normal jobs! LOL
  13. Very nice Woodchuck! You're a wizard on the wood lathe too!
  14. I think that's badass! I'd like to do something like that to mine later on I think.
  15. I'm with Scootch. I wanna know how in the world you did that. Is that all hand-painted? I really like it and wouldn't mind doing it to my faceplate.
  16. Make sure you know what you're getting into! LOL I often look back and think "I really didn't have it all that bad back when I was still a C/O"! LOL
  17. As long as you stay in Chicago, you'll never have to worry about me being your Lt. and writing your eval. NO WAY am I going there! LOL
  18. I'm a GS-11 Lieutenant (Shift Supervisor) for the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Currently, I work at FCC Lompoc, CA. I started at USP ******* in Louisiana and transferred to FCC Forrest City, AR. I left AR about 2 years ago to come out here and it has definitely been an adventure.
  19. I think you did a great job on both the build and the weathering! I like it as it is.
  20. Finally got my numbers! TK 2316 requesting access!
  21. Awesome job bro. Now you just need a haircut like mine to go with it! LOL J/K!
  22. Thanks. Didn't notice the clickable text in the original post.
