  1. Somehow I doubt that I totally understand where you are coming from with describing your dislike of it, but it seems to do what I want it to do ... I acutally bought some E6000, and tried it on a less than optimal bond. It didn't work out like I expected, and I reverted back to CA for that particular project. I'll probably give it another shot, but I just don't have experience with the stuff yet. How much set time do you realistically see with E6000? Seemed a bit long for me (I'm in a high humidity area). Maybe that is part of it?
  2. ----------------------------------------------- For just the armor, try getting 7 tubes. You will find yourself using it later if you have extra. For the backpack, I dunno, I'm still getting started. I'd guess 2 tubes at least? Though I like the idea of using a lot of bolts and nuts with the back pack if possible (along with some purple loctite to keep the nuts from working loose). --------------
  3. Btw, sorry to derail the tread, but I LOVE the gloves, going to look for them this evening. Meant to say before, THANKS for sharing them!
  4. Have you tried http://www.devcon.com/devconfamilyproduct.cfm?familyid=182 They have a search function by zip to find a local distributer.
  5. We sooo missed you Saturday Shawn. As we moved from one area to another it was "Gee if only Shawn was here...". We did start taking up the slack: And I found out my sand stays on my armor just find in an 80MPH 'breeze.'
  6. All of them should be fully grey with black line around. Good luck man! And welcome!
  7. Let us drink and make merry, For tomorrow our patrol might encounter a group of small furry natives with no technology or any modern weapons.
  8. Oh man, that sucks! I personally thought the shopping cart thing was great. I've been showing it to people left and right, and grinning the whole time. After just the bull ride thing, you were on my list of troopers that were heading to D*C that I just had to meet (the other that I didn't get to meet, I actually ran into and saw like 20 times, but he had blond wavy hair, and I didn't recognize the freak ). So if we both end up making it to MOSI this Saturday, do let me buy you a round after it, just for making those videos if nothing else.
  9. Oh very, very nice! I'll check the footage again when I can, but I really don't recall an actual bolt on the movie ones.
  10. Got no clue how computer savy you are, so this is my brain dead version of how to do it, with just a base XP machine. Pull up the page with the 'projected' image. Hit print screen. This copies the image to clip board. Now start up Paint (if you have photoshop, or something better, then so much the better). Do Paste, so the image from clipboard is pasted into your current document. Use the dotted line square tool (top right on the default tool bar) to draw a box around the actual image you want. Do Control + C to copy just that area into clipboard. Create a new document, and Control + P clipboard into the new document. Save your now unprotected image (if it is the XP version of Paint, go ahead and use JPG instead of BMP so the file size isn't insane). If when you pasted the cropped image into paint, there was a white boarder somewhere, just make your default paint document smaller, and repaste it. (Menu bar, Image, Attriube, and set the size to something small; when you paste in the cropped image, it will grow the document to the clipboard image size).
  11. Shawn was the only sandy that could kneel down at the D*C parade this year. I had never tried it, and was foolishly optimistic, but um no. He's got it trimmed just right I guess! But I'd never thought he could do a forward roll in it..
  12. I've all ready cracked up about those videos one one site today. You have to space 'em out more to give me time to recover. Keep 'em coming, but don't actually kill yourself with the next one, ok?
  13. I'm sure the SWAT team will appreciate the joke... once they get it.
  14. Oh man, don't worry about it. I thought I was good for the camera shot, but thought someone else was taking the picture That's no-skillz on the left in both the buckets on and off shot. Me front and center on the buckets off shot. Was good to meet you guys, though I seemed to have been pulled in every direction at once all during con. Some amazing peeps, and some amazing gear in that picture. Do I ever have work to do!
  15. OOOOhhhh. Holy... going to be a LOT more backpacks out there soon!
  16. I missed this thread somehow before. And I really needed it today! Thanks for the smirks
  17. Great looking tutorial! Keep us posted on how the progress is going! (I'm not excited, no really I'm not... ok... maybe a little..)
  18. I got my Rom/FX this week. It's a blast. I'm storing the batteries in my toolkit pouch for my shoulder MP-40, and the electronics in the left most MP-40 pouch. Small slit to run wires between them, and bingo. Speaker velcroed into the chest, and added a mini extender cable so that all of the white mic wire is stowed in the helmet (except for the last 6 inches that I painted black) and links to the end of the cable extender that I afix to my left suspender strap. Now... to find a good place to hide the 3 recording buttons.... Oh, if you do what I did, take the level control knob loose from the pot after you set the level where you want it, and store it somewhere. It's just going to get broken sticking out from the side while it's in your ammo pouch.
  19. I'll be there too. I'll have my TD for the parade (I'm not cool enough to be let into the 501st, so just, you know, wave at me and stuff).
  20. Just an update, a bit more work tonight with the help of a friend:
  21. Depends on what you die them with I had some trouble turning my green ones black, so I used a grey fabric paint on them before painting that black, and noticed that if I put something IN them (a vacuum cleaner tube) and then painted them, they held the shape a LOT better once dry. Would probably still need something to hold that shape if I was rough with it over time, and layed stuff on it... but... looks kind of sharp atm..
  22. There are actual stips on there, the flash.. just isn't kind! Oh jeez, the dots! You are right, I riveted that sucker on... and totally forgot... now where did I put that sheet of plastic with the TK ab plate on it... I'll take a look at the eyes, thanks for the suggestion!
  23. Got to looking, and got to wondering where the heck my knees were. Guess that last change to the belt when I added the 2nd MP40 wasn't a good change. Here is me.. with knees!
