  1. I have a couple of people trying to get me one of the figures. We will see. Again, the fact that they would use our replicas is kinda surreal to me. It may only be a very small part, but I now have a place in the SW universe.
  2. I am defintiely honored. While I doubt I will get it, I would love to get a letter from Sideshow saying they did reference my photos/armor for the figure. Would just be cool to have. The funny thing is, I don't even own that armor anymore! Groundstrooperr has it!
  3. Got some new pics in. They definitely copied my suit as they even included some of the non-screen accurate mistakes I made. I love it!!!
  4. I bought six of the marmits back in the day because I wanted to make all the troopers but then I got annoyed with the detailing of the helmets and some of the armor, and sold them all. I think Turo got several of them if I remember correctly. While I am excited about this figure from sideshow, I can already see, I don't think much of the helmet shape or the hero lenses... but considering the stance and weathering... I don't think it will stop me from getting one.
  5. Those are the Marmit troopers aren't they?
  6. I have been back to the MEPD for about a month now, and I have to tell you, it has been so nice to be back. I left due to personal issues going on in my life, but also because some of the BS that was going on here. This hobby as a whole seems to be filled with competitive jackasses who are more interested at trying to degrade each other than they are about discovering prop mysteries. There is such an air of competition and "I am better than you" that it just makes me sick. It has been so nice to come back here and find that this group has changed quite a bit from the time I left. The level of cooperation I am seeing here and the interest people have in trying to help each other is pretty amazing and something I have seen on only a few other forums. Watching us come together on this radio thing has been amazing and honestly, I don't know that this could have happened anywhere else without people trying to undermine each other. I just wanted to thank all of you for making this such a pleasurable return and a breath of fresh air from most of the boards I visit!
  7. Hey bud. I am working on it. Just takes time and it is one of those things that I kind hit on and then have to take a break and then hit on again, but I would like to ID them all for you. The prob is how much they change and in some scenes it is just impossible to tell who is who and what is what. But I will do my best to ID them all in each scene.
  8. Not really my thing, but some of the early concept artwork shows the sandtroopers with bandoliers instead of the pouches on the shoulder, so, from a certain aspect, this is canon!
  9. Haha. Interesting. Guess we will have to wait until next Wednesday to see for sure, but it does look strikingly familiar!
  10. I am still pretty convinced it is a multiwave/multiband/shortwave radio based on the dials and switches. We thought it might be a portable 8-track player but after seeing these new pics, I am giving that idea up and going back to the shortwave radio idea. The problem I think we are going to find is that Sony and Panasonic made a number of these that then became a fad and was copied by an unknown number of Japanese manufacturers. The Sony and Panasonic versions are pretty well documented so I am thinking chances are, these are one of the off-brands which are very poorly documented, which means it is going to be a lot harder to find.
  11. Sorry, I just have to post again... This is just freakin' AWESOME! This is what a prop community is all about! This prop has been a mystery from the first day I got into props. So many people have claimed to know this or that but nothing has ever panned out! And now... thanks to one of this board's members catching it on TV and being willing to share that info, we now have better pics than we ever got from Star Wars! Here is what I want to see... When it is IDed... what will the first one that pops up go for?
  12. WOW! This is certainly a HUGE step forward!!! Congrats and thanks!!!!
  13. Well, I hate to be the voice of dissent (although I usually am) but my belief is that these are indeed real radios. These were whipped up at the last minute and many of the parts appear to be originals. Looking at the detail of the radio, someone would be hard pressed to convince me that they took the time to recreate those radios with that kind of detail. The one radio that does appear to be a vacced copy stands out and is very obvious. It has NONE of the detailing we see on the other packs.
  14. Yup, yup. You can see that the canvas pouch never leaves Pack #3... even though Pack #3 gets passed around between a number of troopers! I didn't think about my comparison proving that point, but you are right, it sure does!
  15. OK... while I would prefer people by a ref CD... I have GOT to do something about this photo of a photo being reposted over and over. Here is a scan of the 8X10. Click Here for Signed 8X10 of Terrick
  16. A true mystery. They always reminded me a bit of the balck molex connectors we see on Boba Fett's ESB blaster but I don't think that is what they actually are. I also believe there is some kind of greeblie/detail piece between them, possibly linking them together. And I agree that this part is on Pack 4 and Pack 5.
  17. The pouch is attached to the shoulder stap of the back pack by a secondary strap. You can see that strapping fairly well on Terrick as he turns in the desert and also on the Move Along trooper. The secondary strap is fairly short but allows the pouch to flop alll over the place (watch the 2nd trooper as the troopers march down the alleyway and you will see the canvas pouch flopping all over the place as he walks). This is just the pouch flopped over the shoulderbell and not positioned well, but isn't an actual difference.
  18. Very cool! You guys have made a ton of progress on the pack in the time that I have been gone... never sure what you have found and what you haven't. Good to see that this is one of those things that has already been found.
  19. While I prefer to pick one of the 6 and replicate that, it is probably good that others take you approach and do more of a mix and match or we would all pretty much look the same! It is obvious in the movie they weren't terribly concerned about who was wearing what. I assume the hip pouches probably stayed with one set of armor, but only because they were attached. Likewise, the shoulder pouches stayed with whatever pack they were attached to, but aside from that, it really looks like it was a free for all.
  20. You are exactly right. In the promotional images, that is Davin atop the dewback, but when it came time for filming, they brought Davin to the forefront to do the "Look sir, Droids" part and stuck the other white trooper on the dewback. Since they only had 5 packs to go around they gave them to all the guys in the front and Mr dewback-rider didn't get one as he is the hardest to see in these shots. I know a lot of people could probably care less about these kind of details, but this stuff just fascinated me to no end.
  21. Just noticed this today and hadn't seen it before. Not sure if this was on the original found part or if this was done for a piece that ultimately wasn't added. Just thought I would throw it out there...
  22. Looks like you guys are on it. Here is how I plan to label the armor. Again.. this is for ARMOR, not helmets, not pauldrons, and not packs..
  23. I have one of these. They are very very small. Pocket sized. Still, very similar styling.
  24. It is certainly possible they completely unsuited, but I think it is more likely that they just set the helmets, packs, and possibly pauldrons aside and left the armor on. The way I am doing this right now, is not exactly like I did the backpacks, but more of a scene by scene review of what armor is where in the scene. At this point, I am not trying to ID helmets, just armor.
  25. Simply put, an impossible task. There are so many changes, not only from scene to scene but even from shot to shot that it is almost impossible to keep up with. For instance, in the roadblock scene, we see a trooper (who i will call trooper #3) in a black pauldron with an E-11 and Pack #4. Less than two seconds later he magically becomes the "Move Along trooper with an orange pauldron and Pack #3. Sigh... I am still working on this but it is very tedious due to the lack of continuity.
