  1. Just to clarify, my old AM build thread on FISD was my TK (sold it to a garrison member). My Stop that Ship TD build on MEPD is an ATA HIPS kit. It's been sturdy and troops just fine, in fact I kind of abuse it and toss it in a box and have never had any cracks. The only crack was when someone knocked my helmet off a 5 foot tall shelf and the chin cracked at the thinnest part. Nothing some plastic weld and shim didn't fix. :)

I can't recommend AM anymore to be honest, so much work to get them looking right. I would suggest ATA HIPS or ABS. The new AM (NE - No Excuses I think?) is still a little ways out, and I'm not 100% sure of the sizing (exactly how big it is).

RT mod is a friend of mine too, great quality stuff. Just his real day job (pilot) keeps him busy, and his armor stuff is more of a hobby.

    Hi Terry,

Thanks for your imput. I did get an email from Rob but unfortunatley I am to egar to wait until 2014 for my Armor. I am going to go with the ATA & try & drop a few pounds in the next six months before it arrives. I have asked for the TD kit minus the helmet as i have an eFX that i have done up to meet police officer requirements & if i decide to go for SWAT i will look at an appropriate helmet then (I am a Boofhead). Also I plan to follow your weathering thread as I also built my T21 following your build thread. I must say you certainly now your stuff !

    Thanks Andrew.

  2. Hi Guys,

Looks like i opened a can of worms! I got a reply today from RT-MOD & his waitlist is out to 2014, so thats out for me. JOhn i will try the Guy you mentioned, but it looks like it will be ATA for me & it gives me an excuse to get of my backside drop some weight. Please tell me ATA is SWAT approvable if i decide to go Swat. Thanks for your feedback.

    Andrew.

  3. Hi Bryan,

I have the same problem as you, I also got that email & was shattered as this is my fist set of armor & was really looking forward to it. I have put my self on the ATA list which is about 6 months & i also recived an email today from RT-Mod but his wating list spills into 2014. The way i look at it is it gives me 6 months to knock some weight off so i can fit into the ATA, i am 6ft 240 pounds.

  4. Hi everyone,

I am chasing some opinions on the various armor. I have been on the waiting list for an AM kit for about 6 months & unfortunatly recived an email the other day saying that they have had major issues with thier new moulds, & are not sure when they they will start production. so my question is, i have placed myself on the waiting list for ATA (another 6 months) & am also waiting to here back from RT-Mod. of these 2 kits which is better suited to someone who is 6ft & 110 kilos (240 Pounds). I must say i was really looking forward to the AM kit & was hoping for a Christmas Delivery as it is driving me NUTS being on this forum reading & learning every night & seeing all those deployment requests. Anyway if you could let me know what you think it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks Andrew.

P.S. Merry Christmas to everyone & hope you have a great new year.

  5. They have a backing to them. I'm on my iPad so I can't post pics, however take a look at this google image to see a "exploded" hovi for an idea.

    https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=stormtrooper+hovi&hl=en&client=safari&tbo=d&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=g0OaUMf-J6nG0QWQ3oGwAg&ved=0CAkQ_AUoAQ&biw=768&bih=928#biv=i|61;d|KyQDzypKnVee9M:

Thanks Brad, they are stuck straight onto the helmet rather than drilled and bolted. If you look inside the helmet there are 2 half moon shapes cut into the helmet I guess for ventilation, if I have to replace them I guess I will place the threads through them and attach with washers and small bolts. I will take some internal photos of the helmet and post them.

    Andrew.

  6. Hey Andrew,

I have never seen the efx hovis in real life, but I am guessing they are casts or copies that lack the details on the real hovis used on the real prop. This details missing are probably the 4 line-like details on each "side" of the mic tips... Also, probably the mesh is not really the same and might be different in the way it is mounted. Just guessing here, cause I dont mhave my references at hand.

Will confirm tomorrow if somene else doesnt do it first.

About which to get, trooperbay's should be fine, also there are many makers offering them over the fisd. One pf the most respected beeing Keith. All my hovis are from him if that means something to you.

Maybe someone else can give you a more informed opinion about trooperbay's hovis... I have never handled them, but i guess they should be fine as all articles ofered there. ;)

    Saludos.

    Hi Juan,

I have attached a photo of the mic tip on the eFX helmet, they do seem to have the 4 lines/bars you mentioned (don't know if it will help), but i guess because it will be yourself & Rick who will have the final say on my eventual deployment request better to get it right the first time round.

    Thanks Andrew.

  7. Hi everyone,

I was hoping you could help me out. I have just about completed the modifications to my eFX to police officer requirements, but was wondering which mic tips are except able. Trooper Bay has 2 sets (expensive & budget) & doopy also has a set. Also even though I have to change them & are happy to do so, could you let me know why, as the tips on the helmet look the same as the others & do the existing ones need to be snapped of as they look like they are glued.

    Thanks Andrew.

  8. Hi everyone, Andrew from Melbourne Australia here, Just a quick line to say hi and intro myself. Having been a fan since 1977 aged 11 i was only made aware & introduced to the 501st about 4 months ago & instantly joined the MEPD once i was showen your website. its tax time here down under & i already have the tax refund spent on an AM kit, eFX helmet, boots & Paldron. in the mean time i have been keeping busy building my T21 for trooping following Pandatroopers sensational build tutorial (i plan to follow his weathering tips aswell), one thing as i plan to order a sargents pauldron (seems to be a lot of Captains) but i like the T21 dose the pose a problem when applying for MEPD deployment as the sargent usually carries the DLT 19 or E 11. any input would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks again

    Andrew.
